~Ponyo, Ponyo--little fishie in the sea!~

So i just saw the full movie yesterday and I am IN LOVE with it, what do you guys think of this movie?

Demoncat 01-09-2011 07:23 PM

Its really adorable, I was really amazed by the animation and I loved all the characters. XD

monstahh` 01-09-2011 07:26 PM

I thought it was kindof...bad.
Not awful, but...It just kindof left me feeling like something was missing, and built up the relationships and characters poorly.
It seemed too dramatic and kindof a dumb silly...I would not watch again.

Callincone 01-09-2011 10:10 PM

Its adorable. Ghibli is great :)

takohako 01-11-2011 07:20 PM

Adorable and sweet, but kind of weird and I was wondering for the whole movie how a five year old boy can be sure that what he feels is really love and more importantly, a love that will last for his whole life. I remember kindergarten relationships looking completly different

I liked it =} it was pretty good I thought.
The little kid love lol so cute! Love the animation in it too!
:D

Haha. The title caught my eye because for some reason, that line would NOT get out of my head after watching the movie/hearing the song. xD
That being said though, I didn't really like the movie very much. If anything, I was a little creeped out by Ponyo the character. >_<

Bearzy 01-16-2011 03:35 AM

I loved it, simply because Lisa was so calm about the whole deal, and the fact that the deal took place underwater, and that the little girl in the deal was actually a fish...

Bizarre, but enjoyable. The line I had in my head was...
Quote:

Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, She's a little girl, She's a little girl with a round tummy.
It amused me.

I read that prior to making Ponyo the cgi department at Ghibli was shut down, meaning all the water had to be hand drawn. That's amazing. Can you imagine having to draw hundreds of frames of realistically moving water?

Technical things aside, it was adorable. It felt like the colors of Howl's Moving Castle mixed with Totoro's simple cuteness. I did find fishy Ponyo to be a little creepy, but once she was a girl she was typical ghibli cute.

I think that the ending where Sosuke says he will love Ponyo forever meant that he loves her as a sister and best friend and not that he was making a romantic commitment. The kids relationship was more like siblings than possible love interests anyway.

I absolutely love that movie! I like when she is in between fish and human, It looks so cute.

Ling 01-24-2011 05:45 AM

I thought the story was very strange, a lot of things were not explained, like how that guy ended up living in the sea and Ponyo's half fish half human look was quite creepy.

I really hope the love that Sosuke means towards Ponyo was that of friendship or sibling type love, as they are just little children and to think of them making a romantic commitment at that age is just ridiculous.

The animation was nice though, I must admit.

Love4Dreams 02-03-2011 01:16 AM

I liked it...Of course I love (almost) everything Ghibli makes. But I don't think Ponyo was the best one...I still like Howls Moving Castle, Spirited away, and Whisper of the heart better. : )

Flaming_triforce 02-09-2011 11:40 PM

I thought it was cute mostly but when she was halfway between person and fish and looked like a chicken I was scared. I was also way confused at some parts but overall I liked it XD

Smellerbee 02-13-2011 05:17 AM

Pahahaha! I never noticed this! Brilliant!

xKaruriex 02-21-2011 07:03 PM

The movie was awful. I mean, why was her Dad at the bottom of the sea to begin with?

And how do ten year old's devote themselves to another?
Lamee.
xD
