I'd like to know Japanese too, as well as German, and Cantonese Chinese.

Thankfully I know a little bit of japanese. I can understand most of the symbols. But not the kanji. Its too painful.

That's kinda cool. I only understand some spoken words, I never learnt officially.

At school its compulsory.

Hehe, I went to a school where there were many languages taught so I took the lazy option since I wasn't interested in learning languages back then so I chose Mandarin Chinese.

It was either jap or german where I am.

Lemme think, at my school, Japanese wasn't an option until I was in my 2nd to last year of school. There were the options of German, Italian, French, Spanish and Latin, which was later phased out.

Languages at our school were introduced the year I started there. Which was lucky for me in a sense.

Yes. But now the people who have started in the last few years, they've will have gotten it since they were in primary school.
