Do you have any samples?

The Teal 01-26-2011 10:27 PM

That's pretty steep for the sample you have.

Sundial 01-27-2011 04:05 PM

Wow thanks.

Well it's only that one sample I am going by. 5,000 is a lot here, It's not like Gaia. Do you have any other samples?

Just as a price reference, here's Seito's shop. She's a well-known artist and pretty skilled. Her prices are pretty standard here in the pixel shops... and she starts her simple pixels at 250g. They go up to about 750 if you get all the fancy add-ons, but go up pretty much in 50g increments.

I'm from Gaia. I'm used to charging 200k without even thinking about it for my art, and then throwing that money back at some other artist. But it doesn't work like that here xP

Ahhh... See I have a Gaia too.
Lets see.... Edit to 200g per and 20g for extras
Another sample that I just recently did:

200g is still too much for paint art >< I'd pay like..50 gold max, sorry

Anaxilea 01-27-2011 11:50 PM

50g is definitely a respectable starting price, though c: As you get more practice, you can start to charge more.
Also, do you have any animation experience? Working with paint art makes it very easy to do animations, which almost always boosts the perceived 'value' of your art. You don't have to download anything, either. Here's the site I use to make animations like this, this and this. c: I hope that helps.

One other thing to remember is that a catchy title, some color and maybe a banner helps spice up your shop and draws more customers in. Here on Mene, they tend to frown on extremely graphic-heavy posts, however, so keep it to one eye-catching banner and some thumbnails of your work c: As you're working with pixels, you could definitely get away with posting the full image instead of linking out.
