Subspecies' War (Working Title)
Story:http://th55.photobucket.com/albums/g...th_skyline.jpg In the year 2020, a massive meteor struck Los Angeles, California, killing millions and costing America billions in repair funds. Police forces from the other forty-nine states came in to help, unknowingly letting crime get the upperhand. Crime rates have skyrocketed by as much as three-hundred percent in the largest cities, and though fifty years have passed, police still haven't gotten a handle on the crime. There was more to the meteor strike, though people didn't really notice until the next generation came into being with strange mutations. The meteor had released massive radiation that affected the young children and teenagers the most. Their changes were minute, and it wasn't until 'mutants' procreated with other 'mutants' that the changes became noticeable. Children were born with wings, horns, fangs, and other physical features due to the mix of radiated genes they obtained from their parents. That was thought to be the worst of it, but when the next generation came in, they were showing less of the physical characteristics, though they still existed. Instead they were displaying incredible powers, though weak at first. The government immediately passed a law that made experimenting on the children illegal. This was mostly due to the fact that the majority of children grew up to help diminish the crime rate that had the economy under its thumb. In the current generation, who are around twelve to twenty, weak mutants had been replaced by average-strength mutants, though the numbers of strong mutants didn't change. Police have gotten a handle on the crime finally, and no longer see the need for mutant help. Instead, the mutant population is being prosecuted for being different and potentially dangerous. It wasn't that this prejudice didn't exist before, it's just that the government no longer keeps the rules regarding mutants enforced. Currently, ten superhumans are killed every week. If it isn't stopped, the entire population of superhumans could be wiped off the face of the earth. A couple hundred mutants have obtained permission from the U.N. to colonize a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. They plan on setting up a safe haven for mutants, but so far it hasn't gotten the attention of many mutants and remains fairly desolate. The mutants that do live there often try and persuade other mutants to come and join them, with varying success. Quietly several mutants on the island are trying to come up with a solution, and while many have been proposed, they haven't been easily accepted by the mutant population. Several have actually taken this into their own hands and are beginning to prepare for war against a small, harshly oppressive country in South America, hoping that if they develop their own nation, they will be able to stop the harsh treatment. So the question remains: Will you join the fight? Will you come up with a more peaceful solution? Or will you defend the oppressive nations' with your life? Rules: 1. She also has an uncanny ability for sensing danger. It's one-hundred percent foolproof. Weapons: She is trained in the use of knives, but also small firearms, such as pistols. On her person, she carries three knives and a .9 mm pistol with extra ammunition. Bio: Tali has been genetically crafted by a genius human scientist as a failsafe against mutant aggression. Basically, she was specifically created to defeat any mutant if they went to war with the human people. To ensure she didn't turn on the humans, she was purposely given a growth defect that ensured she never grew any bigger than a six-year old physically. She was given to a lady who took on the role of her mother, though there was no relation between them. They grew quite close, despite the ruthless training she went through to gain control her powers, though she never got any practice copying another person's power. Tali doesn't like how the mutants are treated, as she is one, but the scientists and humans who take care of her have raised her with the belief that it was how things had to be. She knows absolutely nothing about her origins, and revealing them to her is the major goal of the mutants. They hope that by doing so, they can convince her to come over to their side. Personality: She is a kind soul, though she often comes off as ruthless to those who see only her skills. Loyalty runs through her veins, and she always puts a hundred and twenty percent behind everything she does. She absolutely loves her friends and family, and would do anything for any of them. It turns out she's also a tomboy, preferring to wear boy's clothing instead of the girly outfits her mom picks out for her. Appearance: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/member...cture46043.jpg Username: Angelo Name: Jacob Phrynxe Age: 20 Gender: Male Affiliation: Mutant Powers: He has a manipulation over space, allowing him to create portals at will, and he can manipulate energy to fire off energy blasts. Weapons: He possesses a large katana that he excels at using, as well as an AK-47. Bio: Jacob was born to two of the stronger mutants from the past generation, but ironically, he is just as strong as them, not stronger. He quickly became the leader of a small faction of mutants living in abandoned warehouses in New York, and, after gaining the backing of more factions across the country, he led them to the U.N., where he demanded the use of a small island. They granted it to him, a bit uneasy at all the mutants outside. By a unanimous decision, he was made the leader of the new mutant island, where he began building training centers and other facilities to accommodate mutants, as well as sending out recruiting parties to countries all over the world. He is against the war that appears to be brewing between the mutants and the humans, but doesn't see any other way for the humans to end their harsh treatment of mutants. Personality: Jacob is a charismatic individual who sincerely cares about his people. They can see quite easily that he cares for them and for his nation through his drive to end hostilities between the mutants and humans. He prefers diplomacy to violence, but will do what needs to be done to keep his people from the cruel treatment the humans dish out on them. Appearance:http://th11.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/th_anime.jpg Username: Angelo Name: Cailyn Ferzyno Age: 15 Gender: Female Affiliation: Human(Mutant) Powers: Cailyn possesses superhuman intelligence, technopathy, omni-linguism, and innate capibility. Weapons: None so far (she's not a fighter yet), but she is developing one. Bio: Cailyn didn't learn she had powers until her computer talked to her. It really did freak her out, causing her to scream and alert her parents. They came in, and, at first, thought that their daughter was insane, but after a few tests, they realized she was just a mutant, which explained her always amazingly high test scores. She was recruited for the Armed Forces of the United States when she graduated from high school at the age of 11, and has been there ever since, as most colleges aren't interested in having a minor on campus, designing weapons and defensive networks and various other things like that. Personality: Cailyn is a kind, caring, tomboy. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty, and, while she believes the humans are wrong in their treatment of mutants, she sticks with them because they are her kind, though she has thought about defecting several times. Here is the OOC Thread |
Adrenaline pumped through Tali's tiny frame as two more men in black, easily four times her size, rushed at her. Luckily for the girl, they were close enough that she could copy their physical characteristics. With a speed and reflexes usually seen in old kung-fu movies, Tali dodged the first man, grabbing his wrist as he ran by. A moment later, the man was flying through the air towards his companion, who was moving too fast to stop or dodge. They collided, and with a loud thud, they both collapsed. Sweating, Tali jogged over to the side of the dojo and greedily chugged water from her water bottle. "How was that?" she called out to a man in a white, pristine lab coat. "Did I do well that time?"
"It took you a bit longer than expected, but you did do faster than last week, so, yes. It was a good performance," the man said, eying the girl critically. "You two can go now. You'll find your pay raise in your mailboxes." At hearing his words, the two men rose slowly, groaning the entire time, and limped out through the other door. "Now let's go see how your accuracy with that pistol has improved, hmm?" the man said, turning and heading off in the direction of the rifle range. "Yes, sir," Tali replied, wiping the sweat off her forehead with a sweat rag and taking another large drink from her almost empty water bottle. Tali had to walk a bit faster than usual to keep up with the tower of a man. It wasn't a problem, however. She was of a lean build, having a naturally thin frame, and, while she had no muscle, she didn't have any more fat than necessary to live either. She was still wearing her gi, however, as she didn't have enough time to take it off and change before heading out. Her gi was black, though they were usually white, with golden bands of cloth around the cuffs and where it folded across her chest, and hung loosely on her petite frame. Soon, they arrived at the rifle range, where soldiers and the like came to practice using their various weapons. The door was closed, as it should be, and her pair of ear plugs and goggles, the only ones that would fit her, were hanging where they usually did. She quickly donned the protective gear and walked inside, the tall man right behind her. |
Kenji woke up int he mourning and got ready to go training with his weapons once again. He stared at the time and sighed softly."Its not open yet?I sware it would be open by now. "He said staring at a large building in front of him.It was the community shooting range, only for the humans and the few mutants that werent against the humans. He softly waited by the door, watching the people walk by, hoping that mutants weren't going around and trying to cause trouble. He had never actually seen a mutant lately, or at least he didn't notice any of them too much. Some of the ones arould looked just a little different from the ones he expected to see.
Alexander sat down on a bench near the towns park, his scarf around his neck as usual. He never stayed around his aunts house for too long. It always bored him and he needed to go outside to either find his own fun or to practice his powers some more. He didn't do it while others where around though, he didn't want to redo what he had done when he was younger and he didn't want to be taken to the police and being killed for being a mutant. He grabbed hold of a rock that was nearby and stared at it, he had to learn how to use his forcefield better then he could. He was only able to get the forcefield around himself. He looked around for a brief moment to make sure nobody was around to see it.He concentraited his eyes on the rock, trying his best to make a forcefield around the rock. |
"Come on Jake," the boy whined. "Let's go home. We're bored."
"We aren't going anywhere until the day's over, so stop whining already Philip," the older man, Jacob, replied exasperated. "Come on. Let's go look in the park. We may be able to find someone there." Obediently, and quite excitedly, the kids around the twenty year old followed him into the park. They ranged from fourteen, the youngest, to seventeen, the oldest excluding Jacob. "Alice, do you sense any mutants around?" he asked in hushed undertones as they entered the park. "Uh-huh. That boy on the bench over there," the young girl replied, pointing to be more specific. "The one with the scarf." "Thanks. Why don't you kids go play or something while I talk to him?" Jacob replied. Without waiting for a response, he walked over and sat on the bench next to the boy. "I know your secret," he said suddenly. "You're a mutant. But so am I. See?" At the last question, Jacob created a portal that he reached his hand through. When he drew it back out, it was firmly clasping a chunk of ice from the Arctic Circle. "I know of a place where you can be safe," Jacob continued, trying to load his voice with charisma. "I won't force you, but you're more than welcome to come with us." |
Alexander looked over at the man sitting next to him and listened to the man talk to him.He didn't know if he could trust him at first but he soon noticed him create a protal and grab some ice from the arctic circle and then the trust came."I'm sorry, but i don't need protectio.I'm sorry but my aunt takes care of me already."He said softly and then thought.
His aunt hadn't known why his parents where gone or why he went to her house in the first place and it wouldn't take long for her to find out about what happened.'its probably best if i go with them anyways...Don't want to risk myself getting turned into the police....again'.He thought softly to himself a little worried at what would happen if his aunt did find out. "I changed my mind."He said in a slightly worried tone. He didn't want to explain to them why he changed his mind so quickly, he thought it would have been something bad to say.It was best to just keep it to himself for a while. "So, where exactly are we going to?Oh, I also would like to know your name if thats ok."He said softly to Jacob unsure in what he was getting into exactly. |
"Excellent!" Jacob exclaimed when the boy agreed to go with him. "I'm Jacob Phrynxe. We are going to a small island in the Pacific Ocean. It's safe there. There are very few, if any, humans around. Would you mind showing me what you can do?" It was quite a stroke of fortune that they had found a mutant here. It seemed pretty lacking in mutant population compared to some other places.
"Where do you live? If you could give me an address, we'll come pick you up tonight when we head back," Jacob continued, hoping that the boy wouldn't think it to be a scam. ~~~ Once inside the cool range, Tali walked over to the gun storage and drew out her silver .9 millimeter pistol and a box of ammunition, and walked over to the firing line before she loaded the magazine and inserted it into the firearm. The routine was familiar to her; she would fire one round into each of the targets, for a total of ten, as accurately as possible, then she would fire one round into each of the targets as fast as possible. Nearly subconsciously, Tali began copying the physical characteristics of those around her, giving her a better resistance to the pistol's kick. "And go!" the man called out to her, ignoring the others around him. Instantly, she began aiming. One, two, three seconds passed before the gun went off. This was repeated nine times, for a grand total of ten times. When the final round had been shot, she put the safety on and ejected the empty magazine. While the man gathered up the target, she reloaded the magazine in anticipation of the next round. The boles were quite hard to hit. The area for a ten was about as large as a dime, and she was shooting from fifty yards away. The man returned and nodded to her, signaling her to get ready. She got back in position and waited for him to say go. "Begin!" he called out with a volume necessary for Tali to hear him, starting his stopwatch. The gun fired almost before he was finished speaking. She moved onto the next bole, aiming for a second and firing before moving onto the next. In almost no time at all, she was done, the gun's safety was on, and the man was getting her target. He came back, looking at both of her targets. "You missed six points on the first target, and thirteen on the second. But you improved by one point in both than last week, so it's okay. Overall you did very good this time." Tali couldn't help but smile at the man's slight pride in her. It really meant a lot to her if she could make the man, and subsequently her mother, proud of her. Now it was time for her lessons with the other kids at the base, so she gave the man a kiss on the cheek, using the jumping ability of those around her to reach that high, and dashed out, hurrying to the classroom to avoid being late for her classes. |
A female hawk, deep brown in color, circled around the park once. Then, once again, this time lower to the ground, before deciding that she was weary, and taking rest in a nearby tree. She perched there quietly, landing on a branch of the topmost portion of the tree, and folding in her wings. She then went about looking through her feathers with her beak, but there was something else in her mind. Flying over the Pacific again will be an utter waste of time. If I could change into a larger flying creature and go about it nonchalantly, sure, but I can't risk going any larger than this. If Viktoria were in her human form, she would have let out a sigh. Instead she simply stayed quiet, finishing going through he feathers before looking down upon the two guys just a few yards away from the tree she took as perch.
Half listening, half not caring, she still watched until a certain word perked her interest. 'Pacific'. Surprised, Viktoria listened more intently now, her hawk form tilting its head at them as she tried to catch more of the conversation. 'Safe... few, if any, humans around' was the next bit that she heard, causing a little trill of happiness in her stomach. They're mutants! She listened to the rest of what was said before making the decision to change form, though she dare not do so in public. In a flash, Viktoria had taken flight again, this time darting into the open door to the park's ladies' restroom. A few moments later, Viktoria walked out casually, alert of her surroundings after pulling that little stunt, but she was determined to ask those guys what they were talking abut. She was sure that they were mutants, and that was enough motivation for her to approach them, smiling nervously as she did so. "Um, hello. I'm sorry about eavesdropping, I know I really shouldn't have but--" now turning to Jacob in particular, "The rumors are true?" she asked in a low voice. "And you know where it is?" Viktoria meant the mutant island, of course, that she'd been searching for for months. It was ridiculous that she hadn't found it by now, really, but it wasn't as if she were just going to ask around for information on it. |
"Ice cream! Ice cream! Matty's gonna buy me ice cream!" Ally sang as she skipped toward the ice cream truck near the park. Every few minutes she would blow a little bit of fire and stop while Matt wasn't looking. "This is what I want Matty, I want a big banana split!"
Matt rolled his eyes, "You sure you can eat a banana split? Or will you blow up after you eat the last bite?" he glanced at his short friend as she blushed in anger. The reason why he had to buy that little cat girl ice cream was because he lost a bet against her in the arcade. They said whoever reached 150 points in a shooting game has to pay them ice cream. And poor Matty lost. "Anyways, I thought you manipulate fire. Shouldn't you hate anything cold?" Ally pouted, "So? The powers of mutants have nothing to do with their tastes!" she paused, "And you're a human so you wouldn't know!" Ally turned around stomped away, but before she did she noticed Matt looking down. She felt kind of guilty but she quickly shook it away. It's his fault for insulting me! But.... UGH!!! I'll buy him ice cream instead! Yeah, that's exactly what he wants me to do! Ally dashed off to the ice cream truck and bought two vanilla cones. Matt put his hands in his pockets for a few minutes until he realized he was sulking. He quickly looked up, took his hands out of his pockets and noticed Ally running to him with two ice cream cones. "I thought I was supposed to be buying you ice cream?" Ally looked away and blushed, "I changed my mind!" Matt smiled and took the cone from her and licked it. Then he sees a three people in a bench, he used his powers without Ally even knowing and heard what the people said through the air. Eh... a mutant island? Interesting... "Hey Ally, let's go see what those people are talking about." Ally nodded and walked over where those people were. |
Alexander blinked as he noticed at first a lady that seemed much older then him come by then all these other people start to surround the place. He was going to show off his powers but if any of them where human he could easily have his cover blown and he could easily be brought into the police.'How can i do this without the other people noticing this?!Any way of showing my powers to these people other then this jacob guy could lead me to my death if i'm not careful at showing them.'He stared at the ground and went silent. Maybe if he could see some sort of spark of a mutant power from all of them then he would be safe, Right? He also wondered if he could just show his powers once he got on the island or something. He looked up at jacob for a moment and sighed"Would this be a bad moment for me to do that?"He asked softly to jacob, almost whispeing. Trying not to get caught.
|
"Hmm?" Jacob asked when the young lady came over, questioning about his island. "Yes, the rumors are true, and I do know where it is. I take it you're a mutant?" He noticed a couple walk up, a young girl with an older, though still young boy, and saw the boy on the bench's point.
"Alice! Would you come here please?" he called out, standing. Immediately, the slight girl had started running to him. "Yes, Jacob?" she asked, panting a bit as she came to a stop. "Are those two mutants?" he asked, subtly indicating the two who were coming over. She looked at them for a moment, concentrating her power, before she nodded. "Do you want me to warn you if any humans come close?" she asked, looking up at her leader. "No, just gather the kids. We're heading to the warehouse," Jacob replied, scanning the mutants around him. She ran off to do as requested, while Jacob talked to the four mutants. "We're heading to a warehouse where you can show me your powers, if you're in, stay here. If not, leave now." |
Viktoria smiled as the rumor she had heard of an all mutant island was confirmed to be fact, relaxing where she stood. She had yet to catch their names, and would have introduced herself on the spot if not for the suddenly approaching boy and girl. Instead of introducing herself or anything, she simply answered Jacob's question for now, "Yes, I am." she stated simply. Viktoria then proceeded to watch as the little girl, Alice, was called over and told to gather 'the kids'. Am I really up for this? Viktoria actually took a moment to consider what she was getting herself into before coming to the solid decision to got through with whatever came next. It may be the best opportunity I've been given yet. Why waste it? After being on the run for so long, one grows weary, and Viktoria had definitely grown weary of running. Thanks to her gifts, she'd avoided much conflict thus far with humans, but she wasn't sure how much longer she could get along based on what she'd been practicing alone.
|
Alexander blinked and nodded softly, sighing in relief to know that these three new people where indeed mutants as well.He looked at the little girl whos name was apparently alice and was surprised by how much she respected this jacob guy. either this was how this guy trained them or the people of the island where very respective people."ok, so this warehouse, has it been noticed by the humans yet?"He asked softly, wondering if it was such a good idea to close doors on them with the humans around them, waiting to attack at any moment.
Kenji sighed as he noticed that the shooting range wasn't open.He sighed and began to walk his way back towards his home."If i can't get into the community shooting range i will just have to use the one that the millitary supplys me."He said softly to himself. He needed to prepare his shooting in case he ever had to resort to killing a mutant or two.The only mutant he could ever trust was Tali. He didn't know her much but he knew enough that she wouldn't turn on them.He now walked to the gates of the military base, having to go through the daily routine to get into the room.It was a high sicurity place and unless you knew what you where doing, you couldn't get in so easily. |
Holly panted as she sprinted through the park. She was doing her daily training routine-which meant working on her aim, and at least 45 minutes of running. Spotting a park bench up ahead she narrowed her eyes in determination. Holly increased her speed; once the bench was about a foot or two away she launched herself off of the ground and vaulted over the obstacle.
She let out a grunt as she made contact with the rock hard sidewalk. She glanced down at her watch. "Looks like I've gotten in 50 minutes today. I guess the more practice, the better." Standing up, Holly brushed the dirt and pebbles off her knees and made her way to a drinking fountain. An eyebrow shot up at the odd cluster of people on a bench only a few yards away. Something about them seemed different... Holly shrugged and bent down to reviece the heavenly liquid already pouring out of the nozzle. 'Nothing wrong with "accidently over-hearing" their conversation, though...' a small smirk found it's way to her lips. |
"Wait... there's a mutant island?" Ally asked, she heard there was but she didn't really believe it. She thought that most mutants blended in with the human world to live freely and peacefully. But that wasn't the case. Ally was mostly worried about Matt. He is a human, a human who should be having a normal, ordinary life but instead he decides to travel with a human. Plus would this man, Jacob, allow Matt to come with them anyways? Ally decided to keep it quiet, she'll make him act like a mutant somehow later.
Matt had his hands in his pockets and smirked a little. Gee, won't this be fun. He already knew that the other three people knew he was a mutant except for Ally. The blonde just had to mess with his friend's mind or else this little prank of his won't be any fun anymore. Every once in a while Matt could use telepathy when he really needed it. This is one of the times when he would need it but he'll use it when the time is right. |
"Yes, there is," Jacob answered smiling. "I take it you're all coming with us? The warehouse is safe; you're not even allowed inside. They have all the entrances blocked up and whatnot." By now the kids had begun gathering around, panting and sweating due to their playing. Glancing around, Jacob noticed a girl, whom Alice confirmed to be a mutant when he pointed her out. Subtly, and using the kids as a shield, Jacob created a portal behind his back and stuck his hand through it. His hand instantly appeared through the other, linked, portal, and tapped the girl on the shoulder.
"Would you care to join us?" he asked, the portal carrying his voice to her. "We're planning on going to the mutant island. It's safe for mutants there." ((I'll post with Tali when I get back tonight, okay guys? :D)) |
Holly jumped at the sudden tap on her shoulder.
"Holy-wow!" Her jade eyes widened at the sight of a bodyless hand floating infront of her. Absent mindedly, she slowly nodded her head. Saftey from blood-thirsty humans? Sounded great to her. "That'd be...nice. Thank you." A small smile found its way to Holly's lips as she made way towards the others. |
|
"Okay then. Jenny, would you mind?" Jacob asked another young girl, this one of a slight build and auburn hair. She nodded, turning them all invisible, though they could still see each other. Then, before they could realize it, Jacob created a portal that teleported them into the aforementioned warehouse. Once they were safely through the portal and in the warehouse, Jacob began, asking, "Okay. What are your names and powers? If you want, you can throw in a bit of backstory, but that's not necessary."
Tali ran toward the classroom lightly, barely making a sound with each footfall. As she was gliding down the hallway, she spotted Kenji out of the corner of her eye. With an infectious cheer and enthusiasm, she waved and called out, "Hi Kenji!" as she flew by. She didn't have time to stop though, or else she'd be late. The deep-blue walls blurred by as Tali raced into the class with seconds to spare, taking her seat while panting slightly. The teacher eyed her critically, while most of the other students just rolled their eyes. In all honesty, most of the human children didn't like her because she was a mutant, an attitude fostered by years of living with parents who avidly protested mutants. Hurriedly, Tali grabbed her pencil and sat it on the desk, waiting for class to start. |
Holly looked around her new surroundings; slightly taken aback at how sudden they had changed. But she'd rather not question it. As Jacob spoke, her gaze fell down cast.
"My names Holly. The only power I really have is being able to shoot bolts of electricity out of my hands." she looked back up and crossed her arms. "Sorry. No back story." |
Viktoria stayed quiet, nodding in understanding when appropriate, eyes widening the slightest bit in surprise when she found herself suddenly in a different place. She looked about the warehouse for a moment before turning to look at Jacob, listening again, none too surprised by what they were asked to do. After the girl, now named 'Holly', introduced herself and her power, Viktoria spoke up. "Viktoria." she smiled in a friendly manner, "I shapeshift and I'm... fast." She said simply, not caring to mention her wings. Wings weren't exactly a 'power', after all.

Ally was too busy thinking on how to make Matt seem like a mutant. But, it was no use, she can't make hardcore plans without her friend knowing about it. He's the one who makes the hardcore plans while Ally just follows it. I'll just have to explain to this Jacob dude that Matt is a trustworthy guy and he'll never report us to the police. Yeah... Ally thought wearily, she hoped that man will believe him. If he doesn't then bye-bye Matty, Ally's only friend and partner. When she came back to reality Ally realized that the scenery had changed, now they were in a warehouse. After the two women introduced herself that's when the little girl figured out what was happening so she introduced herself too. "Ally Maxwell. I manipulate fire and I can fly."
Matt glanced at his friend and smirked, Well, well already giving up eh? quickly he sent a message to Jacob's head explaining that he didn't want to show his powers to his friend because she didn't know he was a mutant and he's not planning to tell her yet. Once Matt was done he felt like he was going to collapse because when he used telepathy, it usually drained his energy making him not use it as much. Matt grabbed on to Ally's shoulder trying to stand so he wouldn't fall and make him seem suspicious. "Matt. I'm a-" before he could finish he felt a cold breeze and found himself behind Jacob. Matt blinked and he quickly realized what happened, "I can teleport." This'll be fun. |
With a gasp, Angel awoke from her nightmare that she was having as she jumped up. These nightmares were a regular occurrence and she had almost gotten used to them but recently they have been getting worse and worse. She put away the dagger she had instinctively pulled from her boot when she woke. It was a good thing she never slept near anyone, she have accidentally stabbed them to death. With a sigh she stood to her feet and shook the dirt off the blanket she was sleeping on before she folded it and put it in her bag. Her wings fanned out behind her as she stretched and yawned. Her wingspan was over six feet and it was often hard for her to hide them, then again she rarely had to try. People knew what she was even if they didn't see her wings, she didn't act like a human anyways.
Even though she lived in the wilderness she stayed updated with mutants and the progress they have made with being free from human prosecution. She knew a lot about the island in the pacific and a man named Jacob who recruited people to go to the island. For a month she had been trying to track him, but it was hard to catch up to someone who make portals for himself. But she knew if she could find him and entered his portal before it closed she could follow him to where ever he was going. She knew that she had been getting close the past couple of days but she didn't know how close she was when she wandered into a park and saw him talking to a group of younger mutants. When he used his power she knew that she only had a limited time to get through his portal but she was also worried that he would be unhappy that she used his portal without permission. There was no time to dwell on that though because before she knew it he had used his power and they all vanished through the portal. With one good flap of her wings, she shot towards the portal and entered just before it had closed. Unable to stop or see where she was going, Angel slammed into a wall of a warehouse and collapsed to the ground. Her arm had broke when it impacted the wall but her power allowed her to heal it in a matter of seconds. "Ow..." she groaned before looking up at all the people in the warehouse but her eyes stopped on Jacob. "I hear that you can get me to the island," she said as she sat up on the cold concrete floor. |
Jacob witnessed the angel girl's magnificent crash into the wall, trying hard not to laugh. "Are you okay?" he asked, reaching down to the girl up off the floor. "Yes, I can get you to the island. What's your name? I'm Jacob. Would you mind showing us your powers?" With a mere thought, Jacob had closed the portal, thinking it best to prevent people from stumbling upon it. He hadn't responded to Matt's request, as shortly after it had been made, the boy teleported, making whether or not Jacob said anything, rather moot.
"Why don't you guys show us your powers one at a time?" Jacob asked the group in general. "You've seen my space power, but I'll show you my energy power too, okay?" With that, Jacob nodded to one of the young boys, who immediately lifted his arm, obviously using telekinesis to lift up a barrel. Jacob raised one hand, put the palm to the barrel, and fired. A bolt of pure energy shot from his palm, nailing the barrel and causing it to explode, though Jacob created portals to keep the debris from impaling the kids. "Okay, who's first?" |
"Yeah...I am perfectly fine," Angel responded to Jacob as she stood to her feet and then brushed herself off. "My name is Katherine Crews, but most people call me Angel because, well," she looked at herself as her wings spanned out behind her. "I think it is pretty obvious why they call me that." Angel watched as Jacob showed everyone his power with amazement and excitement, she knew he was powerful but to her that was absolutely amazing. None of her powers were offense powers, which was why she carried weapons, but hers were very powerful defense powers. When he was done and asked who would be willing to say him their powers she reluctantly stepped forward. "I suppose I will demonstrate," she told him softly.
Lifting up her hands Angel concentrated on the air around her and then she took a deep breath before turning the light to utter darkness, every light in the room was blocked out and the darkness absorbed their energy and sent it to Angel through her finger tips. She held it for about thirty seconds before letting go and turned to Jacob. "I can also create pure light, but I don't want to blind anyone," she told him gently. Then she took a dagger from her boot and sliced her palm open causing it to bleed onto the floor. With in seconds the bleeding stopped and she wiped the blood away to show that her hand was completely unscathed. "I can also heal others by a single touch, but they have to allow me to heal them." She then gave a little laugh. "And those are the other reason people call me Angel." |
