tulips are too plain. They look like grass most of the time.

Hyena 02-27-2011 05:51 AM

... are we talking about the same tulips? Because these are the ones I'm thinking of.

sarofset 02-27-2011 05:52 AM

yes. and for all but about three weeks a year, they look like grass. green blades. nothing else.

I have them in my yard.

Hyena 02-27-2011 05:55 AM

That's about how most flowers are, if I understand correctly. They grow, then they bloom, then they die. Cycle of life.

Crocuses are gorgeous. They always make me feel hopeful. <3

A neighbor of mine used to have passionflowers. They're so pretty! And we used to have tigerlilies growing wild in our backyard...back when we still HAD a backyard in my hometown.

Hyena 02-27-2011 06:52 AM

We had tigerlilies growing up by our mailbox... but then we kept getting our mailbox hit by people who didn't know how to drive. We figured it was best just to give up on beautifying our mailbox. xDD

sarofset 02-27-2011 07:17 AM

Honeysuckle. It smells great, you get butterflies, and humingbirds, and it tastes divine. :)

TaiyoTsuki 02-27-2011 07:38 AM

I've never eaten flowers, sadly.

sarofset 02-27-2011 07:44 AM

you're probably wrong about that. ever had brockoly, letuce, artichoke, anything like that? All flowers. lol.

fairywaif 02-27-2011 08:06 AM

Technically broccoli can flower, so you're eating the buds, not the flowers. (I know I'm being picky, but I consider flowers as having petals and ither a stamen or a pistil) Not sure about the others. Although I think lettuce is a modified leaf. Yeah, just looked it up and it's not the flower either. Apparently their flowers look like dandelions. Although I'm still not sure if they're leaves or what.

I've had orchid before, but I'd really like to have angelica and violets since those are mine and my sisters names. Oh, and I've also had rosehips. I love me some rosehip tea.

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:12 AM

ever had jasmine, in tea or as a spice? it's a flower. I win.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:14 AM

I used to eat violets and shamrocks.

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:14 AM

Clover is edible. makes a good tea too.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:18 AM

I don't like clover honey, but it seems like that's the only kind of honey they have here. The only bee farm I can think of that isn't mostly clover that's even close to here is blueberry and in Middlebury. >>

Too far for non-clover honey. I really like orange blossom honey, though. <3

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:22 AM

I prefer wild flower. I'm in colorado, so we have awesome honey, and mead for that matter.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:33 AM

The Oliver winery in Anderson is pretty good with their mead. I mean, its cheap because its made locally, but for being about $6 a bottle its pretty damn good.

So, sarofset, I've been meaning to ask you and never really get the chance to: what is it that you write about?

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:34 AM

At the moment a wizard, who is an asshole. I've written about a sundry of things.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:36 AM

Well, like... what kinds of genres do you like to dabble in? Is it strictly fantasy, or do you like to delve into urban fantasy or the like?

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:37 AM

I dabble in everything. literally. I tend to start books, and never finish them though.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:39 AM

What were some of the ideas you had that didn't pan out?

sarofset 02-27-2011 08:47 AM

...no stealing! lol.

Um... let's see. Wrote a story about constructs. Wrote a romance with a couple who were both not their biological gender. I've written countless fantasy stories. A few highschool romances. Nothing finished, because I always decided it sucked.

Hyena 02-27-2011 08:58 AM

Trust me: I have far too many ideas in my head to go rooting around for someone else's.

I have bouts of doubt like that sometimes. But you have to write through the bad to get through the good parts. The one about constructs sounds interesting. I'm always interested to see what people do with that.

Every time I try to write romance it turns out kind of trite so I try to avoid them as much as possible. But when I try to write something thats not romance there ends up being romance elements to it anyway. But that's okay, I think. Helps that I get all tantric when I'm in a writing mood. xD

sarofset 02-27-2011 09:01 AM

he he tantric. XD
