How goes it?

Hyena 03-07-2011 01:03 AM

Sorry I disappeared for a few days. There was a pagan thing where my attendance was requested as well as quite a few long days of work. But in any event, Issue #1 and my mini-posters came in the mail yesterday and I'm ready from SPACE Con on the 19th. =DD

fairywaif 03-07-2011 01:13 AM

I want to go to a Con so bad. I need to get a job so i can afford things. Oh! That reminds me! *goes off to apply for camp counselor job*

Hyena 03-07-2011 01:31 AM

I remember being a camp counselor. o_o

I can't say "it was fun" without coming off as sarcastic or just flat-out lying. But I was also working with the mentally/physically disabled, so it was a bit more of a challenge.

Cons are great. You meet the coolest people. And really only half of them live in their mother's basement. I genuinely like working a table because even if no one buys anything they at least stop and talk to you. And if you have something that's cheap (like I intend to sell things for) people are more likely to buy... and that's a gateway drug. Oh yes. I'm taking lessons from drug dealers. -proud-

fairywaif 03-07-2011 01:36 AM

Lol, gateway drug. I was a counselor for my volunteers hours for Bright Futures (A Florida scholarship program) so i know what I'm getting into. But I don't really have many job skills, and I do like kids, even if they can be a pain.

----------

Oh, I have to print it off. I'll just pick up an application from city hall later on then.

Hyena 03-07-2011 01:54 AM

Ooo neat! So you were working with the smarter youngins. I bet that was a mildly different experience than mine. xD

fairywaif 03-07-2011 01:57 AM

Yeah, except I volunteered to help out with the kids that were the most trouble. They did start to get more well behaved as time went on, actually. Still, it could be a bit of a headache. Yet I still enjoyed it. Go figure. I was limited in my time working with them, so i was kind of sad to see them go.

Hyena 03-07-2011 02:37 AM

I only worked with kids for one week out of that summer. The rest were adults, so my experience was... mmm... very different. >>

That's pretty awesome of you to help out the ones that weren't doing as well. It sounds like you made somewhat of an impression on them.

fairywaif 03-07-2011 02:58 AM

Yeah, I think I did. One of the REALLY troublesome kids actually won Camper of the Week soon after I left. I really wanted to stay longer but it's a popular place to volunteer and they'd actually have too many volunteers if everyone stayed the whole summer.

Hyena 03-07-2011 03:20 AM

xDD

Too many cooks in the kitchen, I guess. xD

Technically, I think I was volunteering at Camp Millhouse, but we were paid about $400 weekly plus room and board. We didn't get volunteers often because of how medically narrow the duties are and how labor-intensive your work is... plus there's always the danger that a camper didn't pass the violence screening. >______>

Roommate #3 has propsed booze smoothies. I shall return later after we watch a movie. xD

FeyonaSaibre 03-07-2011 04:04 PM

Nice... that is a good idea Hyena... maybe I should do that sometime soon. Tell me how it turns out.

Hyena 03-07-2011 11:50 PM

What? The booze smoothies?

Booze smoothies always turn out awesome.

FeyonaSaibre 03-08-2011 03:37 AM

Well then, I know what I'm doing tomorrow! <3

Hyena 03-08-2011 03:57 AM

Basically, you just stick a bunch of frozen fruit in a blender with rum (preferrably dark spiced) and some vodka. Schnapps if you have it around. Easiest way to get drunk AND get your daily vitamin C. xD

TaiyoTsuki 03-09-2011 03:23 AM

Proof that I am a complete nerd: MY FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST NECKLACE HAS FINALLY COME!!! And it's a day early, too! :boogie:
And all but one of the Yu-Gi-Oh cards I orderd have come. :boogie: Yes, I am a complete nerd.

FeyonaSaibre 03-09-2011 06:49 PM

I've been thinking about getting some Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged swag. There's a shirt on sale for $10 right now that says "my breasts challenge you to a card game". <3 Fey may have you beat on the nerd scale. I'm also probably getting a PS3. (I already have the 360 and the Wii).

sidrabutterfly 03-09-2011 07:16 PM

@Fey: *Hates you* I want a Wii so badly. The new Zelda is going to come out this year, and I still haven't played Twilight Princess! I don't even have a PS2 which I want to play Kingdom Hearts.

@Taiyo: Ooh, what does it look like? I really want more anime/manga swag than I have. I've got a couple things, but that is not nearly enough.

Hyena 03-09-2011 07:55 PM

>______>

Yesterday was a horrible day. Could we skip today as well? I have a feeling its going to be about the same.

sidrabutterfly 03-09-2011 08:00 PM

Well give me a minuet to boot up my time machine.

FeyonaSaibre 03-09-2011 08:11 PM

@butterfly ~ hate not... I'm having to raise a 4 year old to have enough money to afford video game systems. I really only buy them when I get my income tax return. It's the one time of the year I'm rich because working 2 jobs + going to school + raising a child as a single mom = the government takes a LOT of pity on you and gives you tons of money.

fairywaif 03-10-2011 12:09 AM

I would hope the government would take pity on you! I know my Mom's upset because my sister and I are getting older, so she won't get as much next year.

Cardinal Biggles 03-10-2011 12:11 AM

Did someone say time machine? :eager:

fairywaif 03-10-2011 12:13 AM

I believe vgrace just did. Hey, can I borrow that?

sidrabutterfly 03-10-2011 12:18 AM

No I needs it to finish my homework! You can use it at the same time as I am though.

TaiyoTsuki 03-10-2011 12:35 AM

Hah! No homework for me! :boogie:

@vgrace: Amazon.com: Full Metal Alchemist: Symbol Necklace: Everything Else
That's my FMA necklace.
