Miration's tense shoulders sagged down, indicating that he was a little more relaxed in her company than he had been before. He was not in close range of any weapons...but given what he'd just told Alys, it was quite possible that he could defend himself even if he was unarmed... "I am willing to work to earn my keep. But it would be best if I did not go into towns or the like alone. I will need a disguise even if others go with me...my, ah...odd looks tend to attract unwanted attention to me." His hair was naturally two-toned...black and white. His eyes were an eerie, flat shade of white, almost pure snow white.

Miration listened carefully to her answer before gently hoisting the large covered painting up onto his bed. "...This painting is of a friend of mine, who has...powers...like I do. He has been missing for quite a while, after leaving one day and never returning. It is not like him. I fear he may be in danger. He is neither male nor female...he is androgynous and can change his gender at will, though the change is not dramatic unless he is naked...have you seen him? For reference, his eyes are an odd shade of pink."

At his last words, he pulled the soft cloth covering off of the painting. The painting was of a...boy? A girl? It was not easy to tell, but if Miration's words were true, then this person was androgynous. The painting showed that he was small-bodied and pale, with a freckled face, white-blonde hair, and a strange fashion sense. He was indeed unique-looking...

Alys watched him take on a more eased look but she knew better then that. The best fighters always looked like that, but at least now he looked slightly more at ease. She laughed at his first comment. "Of course you'll work. I'm sure much the same way as the others work. We don't pay for anything but in return as a gallant knight and her team," she chuckled, "we help the people. Mostly helping with wild animals that have attacked but also with natural disasters. If there are no knightly duties at the time we also help with the harvest." Her eyes glazed for a moment before she snapped back. "No one goes alone in my group. Too many of us are different and even if the people like you it causes problems. Most of the time at least three people leave." She looked him over carefully. She waved at his hair, "You hair could be covered with a cloth or helmet. Or the white could be covered with a dye. Your eyes are different but it isn't like we can change them. But even with that it shouldn't be a problem. There is a shepard with the most startling purple eyes ever and there is a young girl in the town near here that has light pink eyes. They both seem to draw luck so the commoners will likely think that is why I've brought you on."

Alys listened to him carefully then looked at the picture. Now this person would truely earn her a place back home if he/she was on her team. She looked at the painting carefully before shaking her head. "I am sorry. I haven't seen him. The only person I have met with pink eyes was that child I told you of and she can't be more then five. But like I said I am new here. If you wish to find him I could hunt around for you. If he is likely to be in trouble around here then I can spend more time at the manor. Ask the others though. I am allowed in the manor where they are not, but the commoners trust them in places they don't trust me." She looked at him carefully again. "Do not worry about them. None of us have family of our own anymore and they will likely tell you, if you asked, that this is their family now. I have saved all of their lives, as they have mine, and the trust we have isn't broken easily. Because I have let you in they will not break trust in you either. But I would warn that on the same hand don't break their trust. None of us are far from our blades." She touched her own sword. She got up from the floor and walked over to the bed and looked at the painting closer. "I see why you worry. Many would want to claim him for his abilities and for his looks. His appearance almost demands that you worry for him." Even though she had just met this man she would do everything she could to find this person he cared about. She had seen many people like him before and at one point she had been like him. Her own sister had been taken and she could do nothing. Her young sister had been killed but she wouldn't let that happen again.

"...Dealing with wild animals is not my strongest suit," Miration admitted, reaching up slowly to scratch at the back of his head. He was exhausted--it had been a rather long day. He was probably going to end up taking a long nap and relaxing for today, and offering to work tomorrow. "I tend to have soft spots for a lot of animals. My companion--my missing one--can speak to animals. It's really an odd ability, and one I'd tried to learn off of him for years. For some reason, it never worked with me. You see, he could convince violent animals not to attack people...that is useful, considering it eliminates the need for meaningless bloodshed."

He paused, glancing downward. "...I see. I worry about him, tremendously. But I've searched far and wide...so far, I've seen nothing. There is, ah...another thing you should know about him, if you plan to brief the others about him. Besides his looks, he has a very enchanting, hypnotizing voice. His voice has the qualities of a mythical creature known as a siren...the one that lures sailors to their deaths at sea? He's quite odd. He would make a nice addition to your team, as well. But that's only if you can help me to locate him. If he is in trouble he may be using a different name, but the name I know him as is Charmase. Shar-maize. Pronounced, as such..."

Miration shifted slightly, laying back against the headboard of his bed. He set the painting down beside his bed again. "I do not like asking for help...but I will poke around to see who is willing to do so."

"Well there is always other work. I can see how speaking to animals would be useful. It would make a lot of things less dangerous for everyone. Right after coming here we had a problem with a bear. It had gone mad and killed. We wouldn't hurt animals normally but once they begin killing we no longer have a choice. If we had someone to speak to the animals." She shook her head.

"Well maybe with our help we can find him." She nodded at the new information. This could make things easier. "Thank you for the information. When we find him I will ask him to join the team but I will not force him or you to stay."

She walked towards the door after picking up her sword. She turned to looke back at Miration. "I will pass the information to the rest for you. I will leave you to rest as it has been a busy day but I have one final question first. Do you think he would still be in this area or could he have gotten away from here? I have contacts in the capital that I could contact if I need too."

Mira-Charma13 03-25-2011 02:56 AM

"If he is being detained against his will, there is a chance he could have been taken farther away from here...so contacting other sources would probably be a good idea. He's...a unique-looking person, with unique taste in clothing. He should stand out, if people look for him..."

Miration bowed his head slightly, rubbing at his eyes. He looked terribly exhausted. "...Well...I do need to rest for a while. I'm tired. Put me to work on whatever you like tomorrow...I will do what I can to the best of my ability, though I will ask you to keep me away from the kitchen. I do not make food...I just end up destroying it."

He flashed her a sheepish smile before he moved to settle down on the bed, preparing to get some shut-eye.

"I'll send word to my old lord and knight master then."

Alys smirked at Mira. "That is something you should never say around here. I might have you mucking out the stalls, cutting wood, or digging a well." She laughed. "Don't worry. Get some sleep. If you get hungry go to the kitchen. There is always food in there. The others do the cooking so you will not have to worry about that either."

She turned and walked out of the room. She shut the door gently behind her then went to find the others. She told them briefly to watch for the young man then went to her own room.

She sat down and started writing letters. She asked for them to watch for a young man with a great singing ability. She briefly described him. She finished the letters by telling them she was looking for the man because she had heard of his singing and to not ask around directly. Her name was not to be connected to this. She trusted these two greatly. The lord had managed to get her in to become a knight and her old knight master had agreed to taking a woman as a squire.

She put the letters outside her door. Rose would get them and make sure they were mailed. She then changed her clothes and laid on her bed. She stared up at the ceiling till she fell asleep.

Miration settled down to rest the moment the knight left. He was utterly exhausted from today's events and sleep came quickly to him. Though it came quickly, it did not come peacefully...

The man was tossing and turning while he slept, restlessly. He was plagued with mild nightmares...but they were enough to make him uncomfortable. Thankfully he didn't wake up at all while he rested, so he managed to get some much-needed shut-eye. He had nightmares often, but they were rarely seriously unnerving. No, usually they were just anxious, concerned nightmares about what possibly could have happened to his companion.

His companion was probably the only close friend he had left in his life.

Alys woke up suddenly. Rose was standing over her shaking her. Alys listened as Rose explained why. A mad bear was attacking a small villiage a hard ride away. A villiager had ran to them for help. She jumped out of bed and quickly prepaired. "Rose stay here. Tell Malkyn and Brom to get ready. Their coming with me. Ulric is in charge till I return." She waved Rose off as she continued grabbing her things. She left her room and found Ulric saddling Swiftflight. "Your staying here. You are in charge till I return. The shopping needs to be done. And that farmer needs help. Saddle the running mares. Malkyn and Brom will be riding. We don't have time to waste." She jumped on her horse. In a few moments Malkyn and Brom were outside and ready to go. Alys lead the way and soon they were on their way. With all the exictment she had completely forgotten about her newest guest.

Mira-Charma13 04-02-2011 06:06 AM

Miration did not even stir until she and her companions were completely out of sight and earshot. When he did finally wake up, he was startled for a few moments, not remembering what had happened the previous day. It took him just a few moments to calm down and realize where he was. He swung his legs out over the side of the bed, rubbing at his eyes blearily.

His two-toned hair was strange, but his irises, a bright whitish color that almost blended in with his corneas, tended to attract the most negative attention from people around him. Though it was clear which was which because a small black line ran across the edge of his irises, the fact that his corneas and irises were practically the same exact color was apparently a very creepy thing to most people...

Miration stood up and sifted through the few belongings he had to find a change of clothes. He only had a few outfits...obviously, clothing was something he was going to need if he wanted to walk around his new home clothed...if he was doing dirty work, for example, his clothing would be worn out that much more quickly.

He didn't leave the room just yet--he spent his time running his brush through his hair, trying to tame the wild knots it had acquired during his slumber.

Alys rushed towards the villiage thinking about what Mira had said last night. If we had his friend this would be so much easier. She leaned forward and knew the others did the same. If it was a bear attack time was important. They had lost a lot of time for the person to bring the news. She slowed them down a bit from the villiage. She had left her helmet and her hair had come undone flowing behind her. She grabbed it and pulled it tight wrapping a leather tie around it. She wouldn't be able to put it up like normal so this would have to do.

When they neared the villiage she could see that no one was outside. Suddenly she heard a commotion on the other side of the town. She waved the others to follow and rushed towards the noise.
