Aleron pulled out a pad of paper and a pen, starting to copy down the drawings, focusing on her work. "This could be kinda fun."
"Yeah," Margaret murmured. One of the 'letters' suddenly opened what looked like an eye and focused it on her. She jumped back with a muffled shriek.
Aleron jumped at her shriek before turning her attention to the eye'd letter. "The hell...? Is that a pokemon?"
The 'letter' blinked at them and lifted itself off the wall. It floated around them in a slow circle, as if examining them. Margaret's Espeon watched it warily. Then it gave a high-pitched croon, and more of them came off of the walls.
"Look, they're all different," Margaret murmured. "And they're flat, no wonder nobody noticed them. They don't stick out when they're against the wall." |
"You're right," Aleron said, examining them all with a little grin. "Well, now you can rearrange them how you want, Margaret." She didn't try to touch any of them, thinking that might scare them off.
Margaret reached out and gently poked one of the letters. It twirled when she poked it, and she grinned.
"They're so cute," she cooed. |
Aleron laughed when the pokemon twirled. "I wonder how long they've been here?" she asked, looking around at them all curiously.
"A long time, I think," Margaret said, looking at the wall that the pokemon had come off of. "Look, they were sticking in front of the carvings that were shaped like them. I think that might be how nobody noticed them in the first place." She grinned and looked at the different letters. "Alright," she murmured. "You, here, you, over here... I need another one that looks like you, and another of you..." When she was finished, she grinned. "Look, I made them spell my name."
Aleron laughed, grinning broadly. "This is actually kind of fun," she said, starting to direct them to spell her own name. She grinned broadly when they obeyed and she clapped. "You lot are wonderful."
Margaret grinned.
"I love them," she said. "I wonder what species they are?" |
"I have no idea." Aleron shrugged, looking at them all. "They don't seem to be aggressive, at least not at the moment."
"Right," Margaret replied. She laughed a bit when one of the letters nuzzled her cheek. "They're so cute!"
Aleron laughed quietly, amused as she watched them interacting. Several of the letters were playing around, twirling around and turning in circles.
Mgaret could have stayed there playing with them for hours, but she was starting to get a bit curious about the rest of the ruins. She nudged Aleron.
"Come on, I want to see some of the other buildings," she said. She looked at the letters. "I'll come back again, but for now, we should go." |
"That sounds like a good idea," she agreed. "See you lot later." She left that building and started walking around again, curious.
Margaret left the building with Aleron, but then ended up wandering off. Something about the place was calling to her, and she wanted to find out what it was. She walked for a little while, until she rounded a corner and saw a young man about her age with a flock of Natus at his feet.
Aleron just kinda wandered around, and she eventually stumbled upon the same man. She blinked and looked down at the little Natus. She had no interest in them, but that was just her.
"Aww, they're adorable," Margaret cooed as one of the Natus hopped up to her and sat down on her foot. She gently nudged it off, and it hopped right back up. "Sweetling, you can't sit there," she said to it. The Natu chirped at her and stayed right where it was.
"Apparently it thinks it can," Aleron said with a grin. "Good luck trying to get it to leave you alone."
The guy walked up to them when he noticed the missing Natu. The other Natus bounced along happily behind him.
"That's strange," he commented. He reached down and scooped up the Natu, who immediately fluttered out of his hand to rest on Margaret's shoulder, nuzzling her face happily. "Natus don't usually take to people so quickly." |
"She has a thing for psychic-types," Aleron said, nodding to Margaret's Espeon. "Plus, it's a little ball of fluff. It's bound to melt female hearts."
"Isn't that interesting...?" the guy asked. He studied them for a moment. The Natu obviously decided that Margaret made a fine perch and wasn't about to move any time soon. Finally, the guy seemed to come to a decision. "Well, far be it from me to deny her what she wants..." He looked at Margaret. "Would you like to keep her?"
"Really?" Margaret asked, surprised. The guy nodded. "She obviously likes you, and you must be a competent trainer to have an Espeon with you. As long as you promise to take care of her, you can keep her." Margaret grinned. "Thanks." She paused. "Oh, I completely forgot... My name is Margaret." "Well, Margaret... My name is Falkner." |
Aleron choked on her laughter, just a little bit, when he introduced himself. She couldn't help it; it was just too priceless. She bit her lip to keep from laughing alloud, though she watched Margaret to see the other trainer's reaction to having just been given a pokemon from a gym leader.
Margaret just blinked dumbly for a moment.
"Really?" she asked. Falkner chuckled. "Really," he said. "I take it you weren't expecting that one." "Not at all," Margaret replied, "considering I was going to challenge the Gym tomorrow." Falkner grinned. "I'll look forward to it, then," he said. |
Aleron chuckled and nodded to Falkner, watching as he left. Then she looked at Margaret. "You got so lucky. Normally Falkner's not in such a good mood."
