Mewtwo nodded and transported them the same way he had before, landing them just outside of town. He left her there.

"I will find you again if I need you."

"Alright," Margaret replied. She'd figured that would be the case. Once he was gone, she made her way into Goldenrod and towards the train station.

Aleron was busy trying to find out more about Team Rocket and where they were hiding, hiking around with Vulpix and talking to lots of people.

As soon as Margaret was back in Saffron, she went straight back to the Silph Co. building. For once, she was really glad that the people were all so used to seeing her. She was able to flash her badge and go right in. Instead of taking the elevator to the basement, though, she took it up to the third floor, where the teleport pads started. By this time, it was well into the middle of the day, so most of the employees were on break, so it wasn't hard for her to wander around.

She had no idea what she was looking for, but she was sure she would know it when she stumbled upon it.

Aleron continued checking around, and didn't get much besides the fact that some people had seen Team Rocket members over by the Safari Zone. But that was better than nothing, and she started on her way to Cianwood as fast as she could manage.

Margaret started zipping around on the teleport pads, jumping up and down between floors. She was about to just walk the Breeding and Nursery level when something in one of the observation windows caught her eye.

There were a bunch of individual units, each containing a single pokemon egg. Most of them were fairly common, and Margaret recognized the patterns on them, but one of them was much larger than the rest. The pattern was completely unfamiliar to her, and it was different enough from the rest to draw her attention. While none of the smaller, common eggs were affecting their units at all, the unit that the strange blue egg was in had a thin layer of frost forming on the inside.

Margaret was about to try to figure out a way to get closer to it, but she heard someone coming down the hall and she ran over to the next teleport pad. She needed to get out and call Aleron.

Aleron was well on her way to Cianwood by then, jogging along with Vulpix. She paused when she saw people around her, and Vulpix started getting nervous. She slowed down, looking around and getting nervous herself.

It took Margaret half an hour to get out of the building again. She didn't go straight to her parents' house, though. Instead, she went out towards the edge of town. Somehow, she didn't want her parents to know what she was doing, yet.

Aleron stopped and looked around, getting nervous. She stopped at the next town and caught her breath, thinking hard. Team Rocket members, maybe?

Once Margaret was outside the city, she pulled out her gear and flipped it to the phone application. After a moment, she called Aleron.

"What's up?" Aleron answered, still just a little out of breath.

"I think I found one," Margaret replied. "In the Silph Co. building."

"Hot damn," Aleron breathed. "Well, I'm on my way to Cianwood. I think there's a Team Rocket base there. I was going to try to check it out."

"Alright, be careful," Margaret said. "I'm going to see if I can't get back into Silph and get my hands on that egg. I think there are only two possibilities as to who it really belongs to. It was covered in frost."

"Yeah, that narrows it down some. Hey, be careful, okay?" Aleron frowned a little as she started walking again. "Call me if you need help or anything."

"I will," Margaret replied. "I have no idea how I'm going to sneak the egg out, though..."

"If any of your pokemon know Teleport, use that. Or grab one of the psychic pokemon from downstairs," Aleron suggested. "See if they can help."

"I might," Margaret replied. "I'll ask Natu if she knows it, if not, I'm sure the Kirlia in the observation studies knows it."

"It's a good, quick escape route," Aleron pointed out. "Just keep it in mind, okay? I don't want you to get hurt or anything. And especially don't get caught." She was silent for a few moments.

"Call me or leave me a message once you're done. I might try to take whatever I find back to my house, just because I know everything will be safe there. Plus I'm close to home anyway."

"I'll call once I'm in and out again," Margaret promised. "I'm not going to stick around Saffron if I can get my hands on the egg, though. I'll make my way towards Viridian, and cross back into Johto through Victory Road."

"Good. I'm putting my phone on silent, so if I don't answer I'm probably running like mad." Aleron attempted levity with a little grin.

"Don't trip," Margaret advised teasingly. "Good luck, alright?"

"You too." Aleron hung up before she started looking around. She found a building that hadn't been there before, a storefront, and she started looking around. Everything looked just a little suspicious to her, and she snuck around to the back to investigate further.

Margaret waited until she was sure the business day was over before heading back to the Silph Co. building. The lights in the lobby were off, which made things a little easier. She let Natu out of her pokeball. The little bird chirped at her curiously, and she explained what she needed to do. Before she could ask if Natu knew Teleport, however, the little psychic-type took it upon herself to teleport them into the building.

Aleron had to wait until someone left the builing before she could sneak in, and she headed down the stairs, starting to look around. At first she didn't see anything odd, but it didn't take long for her to notice security measures; video cameras set up on corners that she snuck past, and other such things. It took her a few more minutes to get to the egg itself, and then she caught herself. Large and off-white, it looked hot to the touch, with waves of heat rolling off it.

A quick, furtive glance around showed her that no one was near her, and Vulpix listened for a few moments before nodding her agreement. Aleron picked up the egg, blinking when it didn't feel hot to her, and started out of the complex as fast as she could.
