This was not my idea, Mewtwo grumbled, glaring at the scientists as they all went into an instant frenzy. I just came along to keep an eye on the little one.
Aleron blinked. Twice. "But... but you were in Kanto..." |
Mew giggled a bit and said something, which had Margaret blinking.
"Orre?" she asked. She looked at Aleron. "Where in the world is Orre?" |
"I don't know." Aleron blinked when one attack from Mewtwo had the scientists scattering, evacuating the building. "Okay. Well that solves that problem. But what about the eggs?"
What eggs? Mewtwo turned and only then seemed to realize there was a Ho-oh on Aleron's shoulder. |
"The ones we weren't able to find and return," Margaret replied. Reaching back, she pulled the red egg out of her bag. "Like this one."
|
Mewtwo nodded after a moment. We will help you find them. He started moving, searching for the rest of the eggs. He was surprised to find a few hatchlings as well as the eggs, and in a few cases more than one of the same type of egg.
|
Mew, on the other hand, was perfectly happy to settle on Margaret's shoulders and stay there.
"If we're in a region I've never even heard of," Margaret commented after a moment, "then we have to be further out than even Unova. You were both in Kanto. How did you even find us?" |
Mewtwo shrugged. Mew. As if it were as simple as that.
Aleron nearly face-palmed but instead just followed Mewtwo, looking around for the eggs. |
Mew squeaked brightly in agreement and cuddled against the back of Margaret's head.
"That still makes no sense," Margaret said as she followed as well. "That's got to be all the way across the world, it's not possible to teleport that far." She paused. "Is it?" |
Just because you haven't seen it happen doesn't mean it's impossible. Mewtwo kept moving, pointing to a door and wrenching it off its hinges to reveal three eggs.
Aleron moved over into the room, managing to pick up one more egg so she was carrying three total. And she was pretty sure she'd picked up the fire-type of the bunch as well. |
Margaret went into the room and picked up two more eggs, to get three total. She had no idea what types she'd grabbed, but she just knew that she was able to carry three of them.
"There are still a lot," she said. "How are we going to get them all?" |
I will take care of that. Mewtwo looked at them before he started moving again. The two eggs in Aleron's arms floated after him, taking her with until she let go and walked after instead, same with Margaret's eggs.
|
Margaret blinked. Okay, then. That would work. She was about to follow when she paused.
"Hold on a second," she said, looking down one of the hallways. She thought she heard a faint, familiar-sounding howl. "Does anyone else hear that?" |
"Yeah, I do too." Aleron frowned and then blinked as Ho-oh took off down a side hallway. "Hey! Wait up!"
By the time she'd caught up with Ho-oh, he had already burned out the bottom half of a door, letting out a little Suicune. A little Suicune who looked very happy to see them, bouncing over to Aleron. |
Margaret blinked.
"A Suicune," she said. She paused. "Hey, is that the same one from back in Johto?" |
"...I think so. He remembers us." Aleron grinned and looked at the Suicune. "You've gotten bigger!"
Suicune preened a little before looking at Mewtwo again when the other legendary started moving. Time to get going again. |
"I hope you see the irony of an ice-water-type following you around," Margaret teased Aleron as they got moving again.
|
"Oh I do see the irony." Aleron grinned. "But I'm not complaining." She paused at the next room, where Mewtwo was already busy floating the next three eggs over towards him. "Geeze, I wonder how many there are..."
|
"Wait a second," Margaret said as she watched the three new eggs. She looked closer as they went by her. "Two of those look the same." She blinked for a moment and then froze when her brain jumped to the easiest conclusion, and she glanced at Mewtwo. This could be bad.
|
Mewtwo had obediently paused, and was now looking at her. What do you think? he asked quietly.
Aleron had also put it together and blinked. "Could they have...?" |
"I hate the fact that I'm about to say this," Margaret said slowly, "but I think someone opened up the cloning project again." She glanced at the two identical eggs and back. "There's normally only ever one at a time per legendary, right? And there are two right there."
|
Then you must find and destroy the records, Mewtwo said. Get rid of the information, and the equipment. I will take the eggs and the other little ones to safety, and we will meet you outside.
|
Margaret nodded.
"I'm on it," she said. She gently lifted Mew off her shoulders (much to its protest) and headed towards where she remembered seeing some computers. Best to start there. |
Aleron followed her, Ho-oh still perched on her shoulder and Suicune trotting after her. She was fairly sure this wasn't going to be really easy, but at least they shouldn't run into any more scientists.
|
It didn't take Margaret too long to get into one of the computers, although it helped that one of them had been left on and logged in. She searched the local networks for anything relating to the cloning project, and set the computer to work erasing it all. Hopefully, that would work.
|
Aleron went from the computer room to the equipment room, where there were some visuals of the legendaries. She figured she'd be better safe than sorry, and asked Ho-oh and Suicune to destroy the whole room.
