Nika snorted. "Well let's hope that proves true." Because one angry parent between the two was bad enough, really.
"We'll be fine," Jason replied. "At least on that end. No worries." He didn't, however, say anything about them being fine with her father. That was still something of a problem.
"Well we don't have to worry about either of them at the moment, anyway," she said with a shrug, taking the room keys and leading the way over to their room, which backed onto the beach.
"Right," Jason replied. He followed her to the room, and nodded as he looked around. "This is a really nice room," he commented. "I like it."
Nika nodded. "Yeah. Figured we could get somewhere nice. Should be pretty quiet; apparently it's off-season." She grinned and moved over to the bed, sitting down. "And you can go sunbathe very easily now."
"Only if you come with me," Jason replied, grinning. Okay, he would admit, he was looking forward to seeing her in a bathing suit again.
Nika snickered. "You're just trying to get me half-naked of my own volition." But she was already headed for her bag to dig out her swim suit.
"Is it working?" Jason asked teasingly, going to his own bag to dig out his swim trunks.
"We'll see." Nika grinned and moved into the bathroom first, emerging wearing her swim suit and a black and white little dress over it.
"Your turn." |
Jason eyed her approvingly as he went past her and into the bathroom. He came back out in green-and-brown swim trunks and a plain grey tee.
"Now do you want to explore or sunbathe?" he asked her. |
"Sunbathe for the moment. We can explore later." Nika grinned briefly and headed for the sliding glass door that led out to the patio, and from the patio she hopped over the little railing to get to the beach.
Jason followed her, easily hopping the low railing as well. The sunlight felt wonderful on his skin, he had to admit, and he was fairly sure the gold highlights in his hair were showing up, but he didn't care.
Nika found a nice spot, a little bit aways from the humans, and settled down, stretching out. Okay, it was nice to just lounge in the sun. At least she wouldn't burn.
If anyone didn't have to worry about burning, it was Jason. Being a son of the sun god, he physically couldn't get sunburn, so he took full advantage and stripped off his shirt before laying out in the sun for a bit.
"This feels good," he sighed as he closed his eyes. |
Nika cracked an eye and looked over at him before grinning. "View's not bad, either," she teased, wiggling around a little to get comfortable. Because she liked keeping at least her torso covered in public, even if the little dress showed more thigh than was normal for her.
"Glad you appreciate it," Jason replied, grinning and cracking one eye at her. "View from here isn't bad, either."
Nika laughed quietly. "You say that now," she teased, pillowing her head on her arms.
"I bet I'll say it later, too," Jason replied with a grin, settling back to enjoy his basking.
Nika didn't move for a few hours, and then she yawned, stretched hugely, and got up slowly. Time to go find food. And then maybe do a bit of exploring.
"Hungry yet?" |
Jason had dozed off in the sun, and woke up again when Nika spoke.
"I could use something to eat," he said, sitting up and stretching a bit. He felt really good after the little nap in the sun, and was more than willing to follow Nika around for a while if she wanted to go anywhere. |
Nika nodded and started walking around, seeing what was in the immediate area. Nothing really sounded special, so she looked over at Jason to see if he had an opinion.
Jason just shrugged. He didn't care either way, really.
"I'm following you for now," he said. |
Nika snorted but started looking around, picking a place at random and heading inside. She kind of wanted to just go back to the hotel room to eat, though. This many humans still made her nervous, and not in the twitchy, need-a-weapon-in-hands-at-all-times type nervous either.
Jason reached over and took her hand gently.
"It's alright," he said softly. "Nothing's going to happen here." He didn't like crowds much, either, but he seemed to deal with them better than Nika did. |
"Don't like being around so many humans," Nika mumbled, heading over to the counter to see what they could get that would be fast and easy to take back to the room.
