What do you do?
I was just wondering what do you do when you are angry. NO! I don't mean what you do out of rage. Not like you get so mad that you cut or you throw things. I mean what do you do to calm down. Do you watch TV? Do you eat? Do you listen to music? Talk to a friend? Take a walk? What do you do to calm down? It can be from rage that makes you want to scream or cry. Or it can simply be something minor that just ticked you off. So, what do YOU do?

It depends what I'm angry about.
Usually I like to blog about it, or rant about a particular issue. If I have nothing else, I'll listen to my ipod and I'll generally calm down. If I'm /super/ mad at a person, I like blogging about them--sometimes with or without their knowledge. I like embarrassing the people that make me that angry which probably makes me a jerk...but I don't think I've ever kept people around in my life that piss me off. |
For me it depends. If it is really huge then I will most likely want to throw and break things but I just take a breath or two and walk around a bit. If I am absolutely PISSED then I scream into a pillow or talk to objects like my stuffed animals or other objects. Hell once I talked to my favorite shirt of half and hour. Yeah I am weird. XD Usually I walk it off, talk (if it is something that absolutely cannot be shared among others that is when I talk to objects), or scream into a pillow :)

I have a tendency to begin rapidly moving/playing with my hands, but I guess that that's more for when I'm anxious/frustrated... But one thing I do to calm myself down when angry, is to sing to myself. I know it sounds really stupid and childish, but it actually helps me to relax and stop myself from throttling something. |
Singing to myself really helps. And thats not childish. Trust me I've done worse...like yell at a waterbottle about your really bad day. O.o

Go out in the woods and scream. Occasionally I find stuff people have chucked out like old TVs or bottles, and I break them.

That is way better then screaming at people or breaking your own stuff :)

True, but sooner or later someone has to clean up the glass.
I find it annoying people throw their furniture away up in the woods anyway. If they can haul it here why not just haul it to the dump, or leave it by a Salvation Army? I had a friend who had a cool set up one year tho. We had a actual living room in the woods we could hang in. We dragged up some old couches and a old mattress and sometimes we'd have sleepovers. The ants were annoying tho. |

We never got rid of any of it because later that year there was a BIG earthquake, and some of the trees we had our tarp slung in came down. Kinda glad we weren't up there because a tree crushed the bed!

Oh I can do a lot when I'm angry. The angrier I am, the more I walk, usually in the morning. So basically, if I get really angry, I just take a walk. That's why sometimes I don't take the bus and walk halfway to college. I guess feeling the cold morning air and exercising the muscles goes a long way.
I also listen to Breaking Benjamin, like Home and Evil Angel, they calm me down. And needless to say, Eminem. He has a song for every emotion I carry. XD But if I'm a different kind of angry, like daily things that annoy me, I blog about it. Usually the anger goes away instantly. |
That really helps me! I learned that exersice REALLY helps me! Plus when I'm done I usually real really great. Takes away from my anger. And Telling other people helps me with the small daily things that annoy the crap out of me. XD
