The Village of Khalana
 

The village of Khalana is on an unknown island, and is inhabited by a magical people. The island is also the site of the actual fountain of youth, but it's said to be in a cursed place so bad that the locals don't seek it's power anymore.

But if they don't seek its power, how are they magical?
Well, these people have a unique connection to the animals which inhabit the island along side them. When they are still young, they seek a guide animal to be their mentor in life and give them a special trait to further connect them to nature. (example: a snake gives the ability to detect heat, or shed skin, or grow scales...or a bear give a person claw like fingernails, or the stregth of a bear. you know..whatever) ... (and yes the animals can talk)

And the people firmly beleive that when they die, they are reincarnated into an animal, and vice versa.
