Something you can't do!?

Is there something out there you can't do and you wish you could? Something you don't know how to do also?

Okay I have never told anyone else this except my hubby. I can't believe I'm going to tell you man you will probably laugh. I don't know if I want to tell you now! Okay I will tell you. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO RIDE A BIKE. Yes yes me I never got to learn. When I finally be taught we up and moved. My parents no longer wanted to help me they were just to busy with life. So I never got motivated to learn. Hubby now wants to buy me a bike so I can learn. But I am very terrified of falling down to me I am way high up. Don't get wrong I am not afraid of heights. I'm afraid of the fall. So before this year is over I want to learn how to ride a bike  phew! I can't believe I shared that lol

I can't open my eyes under water, I can't use eye drops, and I can't use contacts. Damn these sensitive eyes o' mine.

crunky 03-17-2011 05:49 PM

I can't do a pull up. I have no idea how anyone has the upper body strength to do it either. =P I only just got to the point where I could do a sit-up (albeit a sad one) after a few weeks of trying. I would love to get strong enough to do pull ups since it's a great over-all exercise. =P Plus you never know when you may need to hold onto something for dear life and that skill would come in mighty handy! xD

BlackEggIceBird 03-17-2011 05:51 PM

Oh that reminds me! One time we tried to put contacts in my mothers eyes. Oh gosh it was tooooo funny. We would tell her keep your eyes wide open. And as soon as we would keep the contacts close to her eyes. She would blink like over and over. We were like MoM! Stop or we might drop it. Then we all started to laugh. The contacts never made it into her eyes! Lol

BurningCrusade 03-17-2011 06:15 PM

Don't worry BlackEggIceBird, I can't either or tie shoelaces D: I R STUPID.

Nah, I actually do have a personal reason why I can't, so yeah XD

coconutberry 03-17-2011 08:06 PM

I can't ride a bike either. I have no sense of balance at all, actually. I fall over constantly.

For some reason, I just can't snap my fingers. I wish I could, but they just won't snap. :\

Agent HEY-LEE 03-17-2011 09:57 PM

I can't:
make a "trill" sound
wink
snap with my right hand (but I can with my left)
do push-ups
do pull-ups
ice skate
rollerblade
use eye drops
throw something and actually hit my target

I used to be unable to watch people apply eyeliner without having my eyes water.

I can't whistle! People always tell me it's so simple and try to walk me through the steps to do it, but I just sound like a cracked window on a windy day.

I also can't do a sit up... I try and try, but it just isn't happening! So I do bicycle crunches instead. They're supposed to be better for you anyway.

I also can't making a purring sound (not that I have any need to). But I can roll my tongue, crack my back, and moonwalk. Not... at the same time, though.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-18-2011 12:04 AM

Ugh! I can't do a proper sit-up either. My back stays completely straight and just makes the whole thing more difficult than it should be.

Let's see...
Oh, I can't float in fresh water. My legs sink and then the rest of me does. Salt water is easier though.

I can't do a cartwheel at all. My mom told me I could when I was little. That I cartwheeled across the yard many times. I don't remember this and am very afraid of falling down when attempting to doing it, particularly on my head. I was in Judo for over a year and even then I never learned (it's typical to do cartwheels when warming up, at least at the dojo I frequented and the camp I went to).

I can't whistle. I've never been able to and still don't understand any of the ways people do it.

The only reason I know how to snap my fingers is because I took a few hours to experiment. One of those hours was actually devoted to coming to terms with the fact that I can't snap my fingers very well, if at all, with my middle finger like everyone else (I can now, it's just not a habit). I have to use the finger next to my pinky. My hands are/were just too small.

@BlackEggIceBird: I probably wouldn't have learned to ride a bike if it weren't for people that lived next to a house my parents were working on. They taught me to ride a bike when I was six - I think. Very nice family. I was much too afraid before them to take off my training wheels, and knowing my dad I probably wouldn't have had them removed if it weren't for those people.
Yeah, popped into my head when I read your post.

I'd love to be able to play guitar or draw well. However, I know that if I did know how to play guitar, I would do nothing else with my life. I'd wind up playing it under a bridge somewhere.

Codette 03-18-2011 05:04 PM

I can't roller blade or ice skate. I can't do cartwheels or handstands. I can't whistle. I can't dunk my head underwater or else I freak out. I can't swim properly ( the best I can do is 'frog' for short distances, and kinda do this hop/swim thing..)Can't do a pull up (no arm strength whatsoever ^.^) Oh and without my glasses on, I can't read something 2 feet from my face. ^.^'

Explodey 03-18-2011 05:56 PM

I can't make a snap sound with my fingers on my left hand. I can make the gesture, but somehow it doesn't happen hard enough, or whatever, to make a sound.

I can snap on my right hand just fine tho.

If I put my pinky down, that third finger just loves to come down with it.
My other two fingers will go up, but the third one won't. If it comes up, so does the pinky. And I'd literally have to BREAK my finger to change this. It's been like this for me for YEARS.

NeuzaKC 03-18-2011 08:38 PM

I can't ride a bike. For the life of me, I can't. And it creeps me out how can some people stand on a bike and ride it. Balance: I have none.

And you know how some people crack their knuckles? I can neither do that or be around people who do it. I start twitching, go figure. =/ Also, Scene, my fingers do that too, I thought it was normal. XD

Aganab 03-19-2011 12:42 AM

I learned how to ride a bike just a year ago. I didn't actually ride a bike after learning how to, so I might have forgotten.
I am pretty ashamed of not being able to do proper push-ups. I can do sit-ups, but not push-ups.
I also am very bad at gymnastics. Basically the only thing I can do is balance. No cartwheels, no somersaults, nothing!
Oh, and I also cannot whistle. I used to be able to (very not very well, though), but I kind of forgot how to do it ^^' But I hope I can learn it again once.

B A B Y C O C K 03-19-2011 12:00 PM

I can't do any stunts that much.
Like cartwheels and back-flips.
Wish I could though.
It'd be great dance moves!

unseenchii 03-29-2011 04:14 AM

Skating - ice skate / roller blade - must be really fun
Piano and Guitar - my dream but until now still can't finish 1 song
Painting - it must be relaxing to see your own paintings

BleedXWell 03-29-2011 04:58 AM

I never learned how to ride a bike. My head would always be in one direction while my body was in another. I always wanted to learn and I never did. I wish to learn still to this day because, I feel like basically the entire population of the United States knows how to ride a bike. I mean heck, three year olds know how or are learning how. I'm sitting here almost twenty years old and I don't know how.

Cherry Who? 03-29-2011 05:34 AM

It's not too difficult once you get the hang of it, BleedxWell. :) I'm sure you could find someone to teach you how. The tricky part is that at very low speeds, it's very hard to balance, so you've got to get a touch of speed to be able to stay upright. I think that's the most challenging for those just learning since faster is scarier if you don't know how! Just get someone to jog alongside you and catch if you start to tip, and you'll be riding in no time at all! It's not too hard, I promise. :)

And that goes for everyone else who has said they don't know how to ride a bike too!

zeapear 03-29-2011 05:47 AM

I can't actually raise my eyebrows individually ; ~;
I can raise them at once like a pro, but when I try and achieve that 'quizzical' look I always look really sad/angry/...weird because both of my eyebrows end up dimpling and lowering :gonk:

Oh, I also lack the upper body strength to do a single pushup, I always go up > down > hover for a few seconds, whilst groaning > collapse xD I'm better at chin-ups, but I'm still a spaghetti-armed weakling ; ~;

Cherry Who? 03-29-2011 05:54 AM

It's definitely something you have to teach yourself to do. I got really dedicated to it about six years ago and now I can raise my left eyebrow on its own. I can't do the right one, though! Just try to do it over and over for... I don't really remember how long it took me; just as long as it takes. To make it easier, just work on one at a time. Focus as hard as you can on that eyebrow and raise it. I think it might help a bit to hold the other one down. The trick is getting yourself to be able to isolate the muscles on just one side.

Another thing that helps is knowing which part of your eyebrow you're pulling up. When you're raising both your eyebrows, you're sort of raising them from the inner sides of them (towards the center of your forehead). When you're raising just one, you're pulling up right near the arch of your brow. So in the process of learning you'll make some weird angry eyebrow faces and will feel completely silly, but you'll get it eventually! It's all about isolating the muscle and getting it strong enough.

As for push ups, try doing them on a counter or something about level with the bottom of your ribcage. Take a few steps back from it, put your hands on the edge of the counter, straight out from your shoulders (not in, and not out to the sides) then lean forward, bending your arms out, and then try to push yourself back with just your arms. Not your legs and not your back. It also works on walls if you don't have a counter handy. :) Do those enough and you'll gain enough of the right muscles in your upper arms to start attempting some typical ones. But personally, I have really weak wrists so I can't do floor ones!

Zombierella 03-29-2011 07:31 AM

I can't snap my fingers. Every time I tell someone that they try to demonstrate to me in 'slow-mo' how to snap. I understand the concept of snapping, I just can't get my fingers to do it!

Faulkner 03-29-2011 05:22 PM

I can't do Algebra....I wish I could though. I also can't sing...or carry a tune...or remember lyrics....

I suck as music.

Mystic 03-29-2011 05:42 PM

I can't move most of my left hand due to an accident a few months ago. I'm hoping that'll change though since I can't stand not being able to play my bass and guitars.

Other than that there's really nothing I am unable to do that really bugs me aside from taking antibiotics. Those just do not mix well with me.
