Leah leaned against the heavy door that led to the throne room, pushing it open with her shoulder. It was relatively empty, save for the demon sitting at the end of the room. She let the door shut behind her, crossing the room and kneeling on the floor before him. |

Erin had been lost in thought. He was thinking of what would happen if the war got to out of hand. He couldn't let his people down, not like his brother had. This had been the first time he was actually worried since all the wars had broken out. He quickly snapped out of it when he heard the melodic voice of Leah. "Ah, Leah, you have returned," He greeted, his voice somewhat mysterious, "What information have you gathered?" He asked her curiously. (It's fine. I'm afarid my post is rather short as well) |
Leah bounced to her feet, resting one hand on her sword comfortably. "I scouted the northern and eastern perimeters today, my lord," she said. One wouldn't be able to tell by her small form or her sweet voice, but she was actually a skilled warrior, trained to protect her lord no matter what the cost. "The northern perimeter was clear, but..." A dark look clouded her face. "They're getting bolder. The raiders attacked us on the eastern border. We barely got out of there." Her fingers tapped along the hilt of her sword, a white bandage flashing from under her wrist guard. |
Erin listened to her closely, "We can't send any more of our troop out there, we've lost to many already," He said, now up on his feet. He growled angerily to himself. He should've seen this coming beforehand. He growled once again, this time kicking the ground as he did so. "I'll have to go out myself," He finally concluded. Even he knew this was risky, but he had to take the chance. (GAAAH! SHORT!) |
Leah started when he suggested he go himself. "My lord-" she began, taking a few steps towards him, then hesitated, catching her bottom lip with her teeth. He was right- he would have to go himself. |
Erin nodded as she spoke. He trusted her, he always had. He saw something in her since the first day she was selected to be his. He did feel slight sadness at the fact that if he got hurt, she would feel the pain, but he quickly pushed the though aside. "Hopefully our forces can stand another day," He said, "I intend to join as soon as I can, hopefully by tommorow, but there are also other things I must take care of. I don't know if I'll be able to handle all of this." He said with a sigh, sitting back down, and resting his cheek on his fist. |
Leah frowned slightly, the walked to the steps that led to the throne and took a seat, arranging her sword sheath carefully before looking up at him. "Erin, you aren't alone," she said comfortingly. "I'm not skilled in politics, but you have your mentors. And I'll fight for you to the death." The terms of their bond had never really bothered her- she was as loyal to Erin as anyone could be. If she could spare him from pain, then what was it if it ended up inflicted on her? He was kind to her, much kinder then she had seen other demons be to their human servants, and she could only be so grateful to be his servant. She studied his features carefully, her blue eyes quizical. "Is something else bothering you," she asked, noting the restless look in his eyes. |
Erin watched and listened to Leah closely. "I understand that, but..." He sighed, as he listened to her last question. "I don't know. I'm scared. I haven't been sleeping well lately," He admitted, "I can't make the same mistakes Dylan made..." He said, reffering to his brother that had taken the throne before him, "He was killed for his actions. My own brother. Even being a powerful demon, he still made lousy decisions." Erin looked at the ground, the painful memories of his brother's death played out in his mind. (Do demons even sleep XD) |
Leah tried not to frown. She didn't like it when people she cared about were scared- it made her feel like she wasn't doing her job, even though this was something out of her control. "You aren't your brother, Erin," she said, reaching over to rest a small, light hand over his free hand. "You're a damn good leader. Please don't stress yourself out over it." It was the best she could offer him. She wasn't skilled in politics- truly, the only thing she knew was the way of the sword. She knew Erin was still hurting from his brother's death, although the reasons were beyond her. Dylan had, in the end, been a fool. "We should do something fun," she suggested, rising to her feet. "I'm sure the horses would like a chance to stretch their legs before the journey tomorrow." It was something she did when she was upset- riding horses. Maybe it could help Erin too. |
"I guess so..." He said when she told him not to stress over. He still wasn't feeling completely confident about the situation. He knew he had to get over the self pity soon, before he got himself and others into trouble. "Horse riding sounds nice," He said, before standing up on his feet. He normally would've been against it at a time like this, but decided that it'd be best if he could get his mind off of things for a moment. |
Leah sprung to her feet- she had a naturally springy step. That same slow, sweet smile spread across her lips, and hints of danger could be sensed behind those blue eyes. "I bet you my Thunder could still beat you to the lake," she said wickidly, walking a few steps behind him. Truth be told, she had been aching for something like this- lately, things had been so tense, and she'd missed the demon she'd grown up with. There'd been no room for fun, only work- and while Leah liked working for Erin, her restless young soul needed a break every once in a while. |
Erin chuckled at her comment, "I know my good ol' Bandit is a little rusty, but he still has some spring in his step." He had missed the old times. Where he could do what he wanted, when he wanted. When Dylan had taken throne, and all of life's issues were stuck on Dylan, not him. He desperatley longed to get those days back. Erin honsetly didn't plan, or want to be crowned in the first place. The day Dylan died, he knew he would have to take the throne, and Erin even considered running away. Erin sighed remembering the past, before continuing to the stables. |
Leah couldn't help the delighted smile that broke out across her face. "We'll just see about that," she said, pushing open the door to the throne room. She waited patiently for him, letting the door close behind them as soon as he had walked through. "Don't worry, my lord, there is no shame in loosing," she added with a cheeky grin. |
Erin couldn't help put to put on a grin when he saw Leah smile, "Oh, it's so on." Erin said, followed by a quick laugh. He quickly walked up to his horse once they arrived at the stables. He smiled at the sight of his horse, which was pure black, but had a white mane. He placed a hand on it's back, "It's been a while, buddy." He spoke, his words seeming to come out alot more relaxed than before. |
Leah went straight to her horse, a beautiful midnight black mare with a grey "lightning bolt" on her flank. "Come with me, lovely," she cooed, stroking the mare's face as she led her out of the stall. "We're going to show the boys that we can't be beat." She chuckled softly, and Thunder tossed her mane, stomping as if in agreement. Leah quickly saddled her horse up, cinching the saddle on tight so that she wouldn't fall. She felt almost at home in the stables- the smell of hay and horses was enough to put her in a good mood. She came around Thunder's side and looked at Erin, watching him carefully. "Ready when you are, my lord," she said, then reached up and swung herself gracefully into the saddle. |
Erin managed to quickly saddle up his horse after leading him out of the stall. Erin hopped on Bandit, before looking over to Leah. "I'm ready." He said, trying to adjust himself on the horse, since he hadn't been on him in a while. (Ok. I'm actually freaking out right now. That came out SO much shorter than intended. Omg, I'm extra super sorry >_<) |
"I'll try and go easy on you," she said, her voice wickedly sweet. With a small "hiya!" she spurred Thunder on- the mare took off like a shot. It became obvious that she had no intention of going all too easy on him; she was confident he could catch up. |
