Another fun thread.. xDD I think I sound normal, but eh~ Who knows. xD |
I really dig this thread. I'm also amazed at some of the non-regional diction from people in very accent-heavy areas. My huge vowels and occasional "aboots" usually give me away as being from the northern midwest, but my "reckons" and "fixins" let everyone know I had a southern parent. :)

---------- And for funsies, I also added "coffee" to the main list. I recently ran into a bunch of new friends who pronounce it in the stereotypical Long Island fashion, so I want to hear more! |
|
Knerd, I don't know to be honest xD I suppose I was expecting more of a New York accent. But I think what I think of as a NY accent is more just people in NYC itself maybe. That harder, flatter accent, where as yours is light and pretty :)
|
Ah, okay. You're right, that kind of Robert De Niro, Frank Sinatra accent is really just a NYC and New Jersey thing. Even my boyfriend doesn't sound like that and he grew up in the Bronx.
And Bauchle, you sound so cute! You had a lot of fun with that one, haha. |
Yes - Knerd. xD Inso was talking to me about your thread (which is how I found it) and said you had the prettiest "American Accent" he'd ever heard.
I agree, your voice is beautiful. It's like spring water. I don't know how else to say it, it's just lovely. Can't compliment anyone else yet, as I feel silly to listen to everyone before I can record my own. xD (I don't know why.) |
Bauchle, I want to dip you in my cup of coffee you sound so cute!!!
Coffee! And I feel stupid since it seems I am the only person on here who calls rain when it is sunny a Sun Kiss. -.- |

You like me! You really like me! Haha, thanks so much to both you and Inso. It's a sweet thing to hear. And I even made a new recoding with the recently added words! Vocaroo | Record and send voice emails |

I always think of freckles when someone says "sun kiss" xD. |

Lol it happens all the time where I am in FL. Like raining in my backyard when I am in my pool, then I go into my front yard and it is bone dry. Then it will rain all day but still. I guess I recall it happening more when I was younger, in elementary school when I was outside everyday to notice. Lol

My accent's kind of weird, I've moved around the UK a lot, mainly around the North and the Midlands, so my accent slides around a lot.
Anyway, here it is: vocaroo Sorry for the sound quality, let's just pretend I'm stood in front of the sea with crashing waves. Oh, and I'd also be interested to hear how everyone pronounces "scone". It's a point of contention and has sparked many a bare-knuckle boxing match in our house. |
I guess I pronounce it Skon....
|
|
DAGNABBIT! You both pronounce it wrong. WRONG, I SAY! :illgetu:
(jk) |
I'm assuming that you say it like S-cone? xD
Have you ever seen Still Game? They had an episode about scones and they said it both ways to try and win a contest. xD Be warned people who may not have seen this: Glaswegian accent and vulgar language. xD |
I do! But the husby is a "skon" man. A debate that will rage on forever.
And I've never seen that before, but I did a LOL (an actual snort at my laptop, which never happens) thanks! "Sconio! Oh, Sconio!" :XD |
Ah I see. I don't like the "scone" pronunciation much, it just seems...I don't know. I'm definitely a skon girl. xD
Haha, well I'm glad I could help. I'm a huge Still Game fan, so when the topic of scones came up, I couldn't help but remember that. xD In the end, the winning caption came from one of their friends and said "S'gone" xD. It's quality to watch though. xD |

Ooh, new words. XD I think I will record later ^^
|
It's funny. My dad was born and raised in New Jersey and he has no accent at all, sounding more like a person from the west coast where he lives now. But his sister! Her accent was so thick you could slice through it. And no, she didn't live in that region all her life either.
I suppose I sound 'normal', i.e. the same sort of accent my father has, west coast, no embellishments. But I guess there's enough of a British edge in there for me to occasionally, occasionally be mistaken for British when I go out. |
It's the weirdest thing recording your voice like that, here goes:
