Juliana grabbed a basket sitting by the door of her house. One of the maids rushed over, " Milady, you can't go out alone, you know that it's dangerous, there have been talks about pirates in the local area" She said. " Oh don't worry, I'll be fine. " She said dismissing the maids concern. The maid tried to stop her, but eventually Juliana left the house. She carried her back, and head to a local field to where she could pick flowers and some other fruits. Normally the maids would go get stuff like this, but Juliana loved picking flowers. She planned on getting a nice amount to decorate the house. Today her fiance was suppose to be returning from his latest mission. She was very lucky to have such a nice fiance, especially one in such a high position. Her parents were thrilled by the match, and even Juliana found that she didn't mind once she met him. He only seemed to have one fault, and that was his missing eye. He said he lost it when fighting some pirates, but he didn't tell her much besides that. Besides his missing guy, he was handsome, wonderful, kind and caring. He was also quiet young for someone in such a high position, which made her quiet lucky to have this match. Most of the girls were normally married to much older men. " Oh the flowers look so lovely today" She said glancing around, before starting to pick flowers. [[ Gonna her fiance is the guy in photo so much easier.]] |
The ship rocked and rolled as it crested the waves. Although not turbulent waters, the sea around this stretch of the coastline was not exactly flat and clear. But then again, it always did seem to get choppy the further in to shore you got.
Icarus stood at the helm, his hands holding the wheel to steady it, although he kept a straight course. The slight swaying and rocking of the ship seemed not to bother him or his crew, all had found their sea legs a considerable time ago. The life of a pirate was not for everyone, and the captain was thankful he had a crew that would stay with him to the end. The rocky cliffs neared closer still as every minute passed. They would anchor up within the hour, sheltered by the rocky outcrops, which would hide the ship as they scaled them, and made their way down the the nearby township. Although a good strategy as far as avoiding the navy and law enforcement services was concerned, the move was not without its risks. One wrong placing, and the hull could be ripped apart by a jutting rock, or they could moor themselves onto them, and not be able to make their escape. This time, the operation went smoothly, as the men prepared themselves to disembark, their captain at the front, his cutlass sheathed, but always close enough to be drawn. A gangplank was lowered, and the men descended onto the rocks, those few left behind the guard the ship brining it back up again once then men were safely down. They then began to scale the rocks, which would lead them into a forest, just a small distance from where a young noble's daughter would be picking flowers... |
Juliana moved around picking even more flowers. She set her basket down, and would pick flowers, and then drop them in the basket. As she worked on that she start singing a very lovely song. She was unaware of any danger, that was heading her way. She sat down for a little bit, and kept on singing. She seemed so happy, enjoying her day. Soon she would pack up everything she had picked and head back to her house, but for now she wanted to enjoy what little freedom she did have. She stood back up, and went to picking more flowers and even some berries. All while singing. She then spotted a rather pretty blue flower, which was right near the edge of the forset. She rushed over to pick it up. [[ Sorry that it's so short]] |
The sound of singing rang through the forest. It was a female voice, and this spurred on quite a few of the men, who obviously had not seen a woman or had any female company in many weeks, save the night when they had pulled a very drunk Brumpton into a nightie.
However, Icarus outstretched his hand in a motion to halt and slow. The last thing they needed was to rush in, perhaps into a trap, or to alert the girl, so she would sound the alarm for the other natives of the island. Instead, he ordered his men to stay put, while he himself went forward towards the voice. He would give his men the signal to advance later. He emerged out of the brush feigning a limp, as if he had been injured, even through his weapon still look threatening in its sheath. He approached the blonde girl with a feigned wince upon his face. He knew it was showy, even for him, but he needed the act to get close enough to her that he would be able to silence her before she could fight back. It was a shame she was such a pretty little thing, after all, she could not live after this. "Excuse me?" he asked, his voice well spoken for a pirate, "I sprained my ankle in this forest after getting a bit lost. I don't suppose you could help me, could you?" |
Juliana had just almost picked the flower, when suddenly she was being talked to. She ended her singing , and turned to face the person. She looked him over he did seem injured. " Oh dear of course" She said. She had gotten about halfway closer to him, before warning alarms started going off. She then recalled her maid saying something about pirates. She over looked him and just something seemed off about him. She stopped moving forward, and crossed her arms. " Who are you? Why are you wandering around in this forest?" She demanded to know. |
The girl had walked over to him, her face with a look of concern. However, just a few moments later she had backed up, obviously wary of him. She wasn't going to take the bait easily. They should have just gone in with sheer force. But, it did not seem right to drop the façade just now. He could still make this work... he just had to think on his feet.
"I.. I'm a mercenary, thus the sword, and I came here looking for work. I thought, if I killed some sort of animal in the forest, it might show how good I was to the people, but instead I fell over a root and hurt myself..." he was really good at this lying thing. He should make it his day job. He hobbled a bit closer, his hands away from his sword. He knew it left him open, with with a whole crew of pirates watching his back, he knew he would be okay. |
Juliana almost fell for it, but being a daughter of a noble had perks. Such as knowing about certain laws and things that other women won't know. " Then show me your permit" She demanded. This system had been put into play because many people were mistaking them for privates and then they would end up being killed. That alone, presented to many problems, for the Kingdoms. Consider mercenaries, made up a good portion of the fighting force, during war time. She stepped back slightly. |
He tried to act clueless, still edging further, despite her moving back. "Permit?" he asked, "I wasn't sure I needed one of those. I mean, I'm new to this place, so uhh, I just though if I was good at the job then I'd be okay.."
He tried to look as sheepish as possible, as if he really was a rookie mercenary. "I mean, I bought cool clothes to help with the image, and all. But I suppose if I need a permit I should have spent the money... Say, do you know where I can get one?" |
Juliana mused for a moment, she know believed him. " Oh I see. Well that's perfectly understandable. Forgive me, a girl in these times can't be too careful" She said. She started heading his way again," Of course I know where you can get one. You can get a permit from my Father. I may not look it right now, but I'm the daugther of a noble, and my father along with my fiance are the one's who draw up permits. So I'll just help you up that way, and after we get your foot fix, you can get a permit" She said with a smile. |
She was falling for it! Just a bit closer, and he could...
"I know what you mean", he kept talking, "these are dangerous times. That's why I wanted to become a mercenary, to help out, and also because there would always be a lot of work, what with all of the pirates around and about." He limped closer, outstretching his arm to her. "You couldn't give me a bit of support could you while we walk into town? I don't want to put too much weight on it, just in case if I hurt it more. Then I will have to sit around longer, when I could be out there getting all the pirates." That was what he needed. When his arm was round her shoulder, it would be an easy movement to grab her in a headlock and bring his blade to her throat. |
" That's a very noble thing to be doing." She said with a bright smile. Juliana nodded," Of course. We wouldn't want to keep you from doing such noble work then" She said. She made the rest of the way over. " Alright now let me help you" She said. |
As soon as she got close enough, he struck out, reaching for her throat with his blade unsheathed. He needed to silence her quickly, be it with a hand over her mouth, or slicing open her throat. She was rather a pretty little thing, it would be a waste to kill her. Perhaps they could hold her to ransom. She might be useful.
((Short post is short.)) |
Juliana started to struggle slightly, yet she knew she couldn't to much or it would really be over for her. She needed to somehow at least convince to him to take her for ransom. Though she'd have to do it in a way, that wasn't basically telling him what to do. " Unhand me now, if you don't and proceed to hurt me you will regret it." She said. She could what she assumed was something laughing, " My Father Baron Von Pierson, and My Fiance Duke William van Terrick will make you pay. They will hunt you, and who works with you till the ends of the earth" She said. |
She did not scream, which was a relief to him. She would not have alerted whomever was in the town below. He supposed she was smart, just one scream and he would have had to kill her and run. His crew, as if sensing their captain had been successful, made their way out of the brush to surround their captain and this young woman.
"If your father and fiancé are going to come after us", he told her resuming his usual tone, "then they had best come with a considerable sum for the release of their little darling." Some of the men jeered and sniggered. He turned to two of them. "Gag her and take her to the ship. Tie her in my room. I shall return shortly. If you touch or harm her, your skulls shall be our new figureheads. Understood?" The men nodded, before taking her, beginning to drag her in the general direction of the ship. |
Juliana listened and vaguely noticed the other men coming up and surrounding them. So it was pirates, she had to wonder what was there business there. Maybe she should have screamed, they scream would have at least alerted the town to the incoming danger, but of course it was too late for that. She was glad that he took her bait, she struggled slightly, when pass over to the other pirates. While this man seemed to be slightly different, she didn't want to be left alone with these men. She was even surprised by his orders to his men. Eventually she found her self tied up and gagged in the Captains room. She was scared, she hoped that this wouldn't be her end. |
A few hours later, Icarus returned to the ship. His outfit, what of it that was not black, was stained with blood. He seemed exuberant, although he reeked of death. It was as if, when killing, when causing carnage, he seemed truly happy. Bloodstained knuckles opened the door to his cabin. As asked, the girl had been bound there. The ship gave a jolt as the anchor was raised, ready for their hasty retreat.
He looked towards her, before passing towards a washbasin, filling it with fresh water, taking a cloth, and beginning to wipe himself down, pulling off his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt, so that he could wash his neck and torso where some blood had seeped through. "Name", he asked, "what is your name?" |
Juliana had already given up, and trying to get out of her bindings, she knew that if she lived through this her lessons were starting up again. She looked up as she heard footsteps head her way. She hoped that it was either the Captain or someone rescuing her. She made a muffled gasp as she spotted the Captain coming in covered in blood. She may be a smart girl with training, but the being presented with blood, and a murdered, she was scared. She glanced away from him, she knew she was really in a deadly spot now. She jolted slightly as she felt the ship set off. Soon she'd have nowhere to run to. " Juliana" She tried to say, but around the gag it just came off as some muffled noise. |
After getting a mumbled reply, Icarus was just about to ask again, before he remembered his instructions earlier to his crew. He did say to gag her, so obviously, the gag was doing its job. He walked over to her, and untied it, albeit a bit rough-handedly. As he neared her to take it off, she would be able to smell the smell of blood on him much more clearly.
Once he had removed the gag, he put it on a bedside cabinet, sitting down on the bed. It was fastened to the floor, like the chair, so they would move move and slide about the room when they hit turbulent waters. "Name." he repeated again. |
Juliana's eyes widen in fear as he walked towards her. She was worried he was going to hit her or something else. She was slightly relived when he removed the gag. Yet the smell of blood hit her nose. It nearly turned her face green. While she didn't really like blood, she could stand the slight of it a little, yet it was the smell of it that nearly made her sick. She turned her face away, so she could get away from the smell of blood. She looked like she was going to puke. She really hated the smell of blood. " Juliana von Pierson." She said finally answering his question. |
He noticed how her face turned in disgust as he removed the gag. She would get used to it. Perhaps, soon, her own blood might be added to the odour, but at the moment, she was of more use to them alive.
"My name is Icarus Vincenti", he replied, "captain of the Bloodwind. However, you shall call me sir, or captain. No-one on this ship has permission to use my name. If you do not comply, then the rest of your travel with us will be spent under a gag again. Understood?" |
She just nodded, she was a bit angry by that. She wasn't some common thing he could just order around. She wasn't a dog, yet she knew she'd have to comply if she wanted to live. Yet him telling her his name, could mean that she wasn't going to survive this, and that thought scared her. |
The man was unimpressed with the girl's unresponsiveness towards him. He expected her to kick and scream, protest while she had the organ of speech given back to her. At least that would be entertaining, especially the information he had just trusted her with. He had hoped it would bring her fear, not a sagely nod. It might have been more fruitful for her to have been tied and gagged in the hold instead.
He just sat there and watched her. |
She could tell he was watching her. It was starting to annoy her in all honesty. She had been trying to mind her tongue in order to keep her self a live a bit longer. She turned and glared," Can I help you?" She demanded. She made no moves to mask her annoyance. She was itching to be loose, sitting tied up was annoying her. Everything about this ship was annoying her. She just wanted to be home. |
