I remember reading in one of my highschool yearbooks that by some point in this decade there will be a lot of single men who are without mates because of the one child thing. Since the boys are the ones who are most sought for and the families would find out gender and when they found out that it was a girl, in some cases they would abort her, or if they found out at birth, get rid of her. I don't know if they made the abortion thing based on gender illegal yet. My focus is on the European Union and Finnish social/education policy, so anything related to Asia with the exception of Japan, I'm kinda duh on. ^^"

I don't know how true that is...though there are more men in this world than women right now. What is it? Like 52% men and 48% women? Not too much to worry about yet.

But the offset of gender in some countries varies. Like in China there would be more men than women because of the desire to have boys. though some will deal with having a girl. Plus I think now there is the need for more girls.

i know in Japan there is a shift in the demographics and there is more old than young now. (like in most other countires) And there was a news story I saw on NHK one time a few years ago that a prefecture was actually in a sense "paying" the couples to have children to offset the aging population, because sooner or later, like other countries, they'll be screwed.

Nope. I thought that too until up to a couple of months ago. I just looked it up and it seems that the world as a whole is 51% men and 49% women. It used to be the other way around. Odd, ain't it?

Yeah. I knew about the Japan thing too. They're alright. I believe it's mainly because their population is overwhelmingly healthy and long-living compared to most other cultures. Poor Japan...their people have long lives. XP ;)

I walked into my room to get myself some water and a tangelo, my roommate has her laptop blaring this stupid movie she's watching. I swear she's deaf or hard of hearing. I don't even have my stuff that loud. Sometimes when she has her earbuds in because she's angry I'm listening to stuff or whatever. I can hear what she's listening to and the words too. O.o
