Osanna nodded. At least you two have this to come back to. It's really nice here. Quiet and peaceful... except for your brother and Winry.
|
Al laughed a bit.
"Yeah. They're always like that, though, ever since I can remember," he said. He grinned. "I think Brother has a crush on her." |
Wouldn't surprise me. Osanna grinned.
Hey, would you mind showing me a bit more about that alchemy stuff? I'm kind of curious now. |
"Huh? Oh, sure," Al replied. "What did you have in mind?" Because, while he wasn't the alchemist his brother was, he was still damn good.
|
Osanna shrugged. The basic stuff. How you figure it all out, and how you know what you'll need to make something. Because now that she'd discovered she could, she found she was really rather curious to see how much she could do.
|
"It's simple enough, I guess," Al said. "But I've never had to explain it to anyone before." He thought for a moment, trying to figure out where exactly to start. Finally, he just kind of launched into a lesson in basic alchemy, tracing a simple transmutation circle in the dirt when he needed to demonstrate something.
|
Osanna watched him carefully, watching everything he did. It wasn't that hard, really. At least, it didn't sound that hard. She could probably replicate that. She shot him a dazzling smile when he finished explaining to her.
Doesn't sound too hard, she wrote, trying to be cautiously optimistic. Probably takes practice though. |
"It does," Al admitted. "Brother and I have been working at it since we were little. And we had an alchemy teacher for a long time." He gave her a grin. "But you seem like you've got a lot of talent, like Brother does."
|
I have to admite I'm curious to see what I can do, Osanna wrote. How much do you think you could teach me?
|
"It would be easier if I had some of our textbooks," Al mused, thinking. "I know we used to have a book of basic alchemy somewhere, it's probably back in Central. It would be the best place to start, though."
|
Osanna nodded. If he had the textbook around somewhere she could read it, but if they didn't have it then oh well. She'd find something else.
|
"I'm sure we could go to Central and look through our collection," Al said. "Brother's automail is fixed, which is what he came for. We need to be back in Central soon anyways."
|
Osanna shrugged. It's up to you guys. And Naomi. I'm just along for the ride.
|
"We can ask Brother when he wakes up," Al said decisively. "I'm sure I can convince him. Besides, the Colonel is going to want to see him, anyways, because he always does."
|
Osanna nodded. That was fine with her. Well, we can ask once those two are up. And maybe she could even just borrow those books for a while to study.
|
Al nodded.
"Fair enough," he said. Now it was time to see how long it would take Ed to shuffle his way out of bed. |
Ed got up less than an hour later, still yawning a bit as he made his way over to them to see what was going on. At least he was decently dressed.
"Morning," he mumbled sleepily. |
"Morning, Brother," Al replied, handing Ed a cup of coffee. He knew how to handle his brother in the mornings.
Naomi stumbled out of the spare room a little while later, still looking half-asleep but mostly dressed. |
Osanna grinned briefly at Naomi and wordlessly pointed to the coffee. The translation was clear: 'Look, liquid caffeine!'
Ed yawned briefly and took his coffee, starting to sip it. "How long have you been up?" he asked, looking at Al. |
"A while," Al admitted as Naomi took a cup of coffee and sipped at it. "I was helping Osanna with alchemy for a little bit."
|
Ed blinked and looked at Osanna again. "You interested?"
I'm curious, Osanna replied. Al mentioned something about textbooks? "Oh right. I think those are in Central, though." |
Al nodded.
"That's what I thought, too," he said. "And we have to go back anyways, so I thought we could take them with us so they can look at the books." |
Ed nodded. "You two feel up to taking a trip?" He looked over at Naomi in particular to see how she was feeling. Especially after their little bonding session last night.
|
Naomi shrugged.
"I'm game if Osanna is," she replied. Honestly, she didn't care what they did as long as she didn't have to go home yet. Although she didn't really feel like sitting in on alchemy lessons, either, but that may be unavoidable. |
Ed nodded. "Alright. Well, we'll head out in a bit." After he'd finished his coffee and had gotten dressed and everything.
Osanna grinned briefly at Al. Yay, she got to go learn alchemy. |
