Naomi shook the thing a bit before snapping it closed.
"I swear," she muttered, "I'm going to burn it. I will learn how to do what it does, and I will burn it." |
Duo snorted. "Sounds like it's been giving you too many problems." He shook his head. "Also looks like you're going to be here for a bit."
"Looks like," Naomi replied, cramming the book into her bag. She was not a happy camper at the moment.
"Hey, it's not so bad. I've got a spare cot you can use, and you can hang out here until the thing decides to cooperate again." Duo shrugged.
"Are you sure?" Naomi asked, looking at him. "I don't want to intrude or anything."
Duo shook his head. "I'm sure. It's fine, really. Think of it as repayment, if you like, since I stayed with you and the Elrics for a few days."
"Alright," Naomi said, still a little uncertain. "Thanks, then."
Duo nodded. "Alright, let's go introduce you to Hilde and get that over with." He headed for the door to the workshop, glancing back at her.
Naomi raised an eyebrow, but nodded and followed him. This should be interesting. Hopefully, she could pass off the blue in her hair as a really good dye.
Duo headed out of the workshop and over inside again in the other building.
"Hilde! I'm back! And I have a guest so be nice!" |
"Duo?" There was a bit of banging and clanging, and the other door opened to reveal Hilde. "Since when do you have guests? Well, aside from the others, but they don't count."
"Since I met someone who's not freaked out by my workshop." Duo grinned. "Hilde, this is Naomi. Naomi, this is Hilde."
Hilde blinked slightly when she saw Naomi, and couldn't help but crack a bit of a smirk.
"Since when do you know any girls, Duo?" she teased. "Miss Darlian doesn't count." |
Duo huffed. "I know girls!" he said, bristling. "I just don't know many of them very well."
Naomi bit her lip and tried to smother some snickers, which got an answering grin out of Hilde.
"Well, you seem comfortable enough here," Hilde said to her. She shrugged a bit. "Doesn't matter to me if you hang around a few days. Make yourself comfortable." "Thanks," Naomi replied. "I'll try." |
"I think we've got an extra room," Duo muttered. "Might have to move some things, though..." He headed over to a "free" room, starting to clear things out of the way. Because clearly he was a tech-magpie.
Hilde just rolled her eyes and let him at it. As much as she teased him, she knew better than to touch any of his tech. He was a bit touchy about that.
Naomi, on the other hand, poked around a little, feeling much like the proverbial kid in the candy store. "It's all so shiny and streamlined and beautiful," she said as she poked and prodded and touched all the tech she could. |
"Of course it is," Duo said with a huff. "It's mine, ain't it?" He grinned briefly before depositing a pad on her. "Here. Play with that."
Naomi grinned and looked the tablet over before touching the screen.
"Does it do anything special?" she asked as she navigated across the apps and programs. "Fly an RC helicopter, create 3D projections, transform into a tiny sentient robot?" She grinned. |
Duo snorted. "No, none of that. But it can give you specs on some of the military mobile suits." He smirked faintly.
"Meaning all it will do for me is let me sit here and play six hundred and thirty-seven games of Solitaire over the course of the next several hours," Naomi replied, grinning a bit. "That's no fun." Of course, she was mostly teasing, but still.
Duo snorted. "Hey, there's not much else to see around here," he said with a shrug. "So there's no grand tour to distract you."
Naomi snorted.
"We're in a giant space-bubble," she said. "I think I'll be able to amuse myself." She grinned. "Of course, I could always distract myself by distracting you with all sorts of questions about this future-tech." |
"Considering the state your tech was in, you'll be continually floored." Duo grinned though and finished clearing out a space. "But feel free to ask."
"Hey, I know that it wasn't anywhere near cutting-edge," Naomi replied with mock defensiveness. "Not even for home. But it served me well until it gave out. I'm not kind to my hardware." She grinned a bit. "Now your hardware, on the other hand, seems custom-designed to take a beating."
