Alice couldn't believe that he wanted another drink and this time it was because it was too hot outside. She was about to leave to go get it when he added more things for her to do, that was it she had been trying her hardest not to blow up over his stupid coffee issues and now this. She turned around and looked at him saying "What do you do all day besides sit behind your desk? You have plenty of spare time until you board meeting so why can't you plan your next one? I also told you what time your meeting was at this morning why can't you leave on your own without me having to tell you before hand!" She had lost it he wasn't making anything easy for her and she knew what he was fruit to do, get her to her breaking point to make her quit or fire her but she wasn't going to quit she needed this job to much.

Charles grinned inwardly as his suspicions were confirmed. She was getting pissed off. He put down the document that he was reading and folded his hands together.

"Ms. White," he began. "Do you know how to effectively assess risk-management across separate companies? Do you know how to balance books and ensure that the miscellaneous errors are at a minimal? More importantly, do you even know what's the difference between an acquisition and a merger? These are the issues that I'm dealing with as I'm 'sitting behind my desk.' And all I require is a competent secretary who can do the rest. If it's too much work for you to go and fetch me a cup of coffee, you really shouldn't belong here. Especially with that attire."

Alice stood there as he explained what he did then said "My attire is what I can afford and if you have a problem with that then get over it. It is not the issue of going to get the coffee it is how you ask for it." She turned and left his office heading towards the elevator she wasn't going to quit she needed this job and if it ment putting up with that self centered man she would. But it would be nice if he would be a little nicer, she got down to the main floor and headed back out to Starbucks she was glad that it was just down the street or she might have been a little mad about getting him a coffee almost every ten minutes. She ordered the iced coffee and then head back to the office, arriving back at his office she walked in amd placed it on his desk then left going back to her desk to start working on the fileling he asked her to do.

The rest of the morning went by quickly, as Charles had a lot of work to do and he had already wasted time on that new secretary of his. The noon lunch break came, and Charles was eager to stretch out his legs. He quickly put away most of his files and grabbed his keys. He walked out the door and noticed Alice still working, intent on finishing the last of the filing.

"Lunch break," he said as he strode to her desk. "Come with me." He grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards the elevator.

Alice was glad that he hadn't bothered her for the rest of the morning and was almost done when he came out of his office, she ignored the fact and continued working. But when he grabbed her wrist and started to pull her towards the elevators she was shocked. When they got to the elevators she pulled her wrist away and said "I have work to do", she looked at him and said "Enjoy your lunch Mr. Devereaux". She was at least going to wait until he was in the elevator before she was going to leave.

Charles scoffed. "Did you think I was going to lunch with you? No, this is about your pauper attire. My secretaries have to accompany me to all my meetings, and I'm not going to let you embarrass me in front of the other constituents. So we need to get you proper clothes."

The elevator came and he stepped in. Turning around, he waited for Alice to follow. "Well? It's a bother for both of us, but that can't be helped."

Alice looked at him and then got in the elevator and crossed her arms, she had work to do and he was worried about how she looked. She watched the elevator doors close then said "You are self centered you know that?" Now knowing that she would have to go with him to his meeting made her realize that she would probably have more work when they came back. She looked back at at him and said "Oh and your meeting is in about an hour", she turned back around to face the door and smiled.

"It's not called self-centered," he retorted. "As an employee of Devereaux Inc., you're expected to represent the company's image wherever you go, especially at board meetings." Charles put a strong emphasis on the word especially. "And since you're my secretary, you have to be at board meetings. I can't allow anyone to think we're employing someone of . . . your caliber." He scrunched his nose at the thought and said, "So we're going to have to get you out of these pauper clothes and into something more respectable."

The elevator reached the ground floor and Charles stepped out. Nodding to the doorman, he briskly strode out to the front door, where his limo was waiting for him. Seeing Alice gawk at the vehicle, he simply rolled his eyes and snapped his fingers. "Get in," he ordered. "We only have an hour, you know."

Alice ignored his comments from when they were in the elevator not wanting to get in any more trouble that she was in, when they walked out of the building she couldn't believe that there was a limo outside waiting for them. When he snapped his fingers at her she sighed and got in, if he was going to treat her like a dog this could get frustrating. Once in the limo she rolled her eyes and said "I know we have an hour I told you that in the elevator".

"Just wanted to let you know we were pressed for time," Charles said simply as he got in after her. "Jeff, take us to the Central Plaza."

"Yessir," saluted the chauffeur as the limo sped away. Within ten minutes, they were approaching the entrance of the biggest mall in the city--Central Plaza Mall. "Thanks Jeff," Charles said as he got out of the limo. "We'll be back in 30 minutes, wait for us right here." The driver nodded, and Charles made his way into the mall, not bothering to check if Alice was following.

Alice couldn't believe that she was just about to waste her lunch to go shopping for clothes she didn't even want. When they arrived at the mall she sighed this was going to be annoying, she got out of the limo and followed Charles she didn't really have a choice now that she was here. She caught up to him and walked beside him she didn't say anything there was no need to she just hoped that it wouldn't take long.
