my nameless story with friends! (actually just the prologue)

Prologue
I feel my heart thrive with excitement as I look forward to my next hunt. I scour through the darkness looking for the perfect meal. No, too fat. Too short, reeks of alcohol. There’s a good one. Damn, too many around . Just as I am about to leave the area, luck seems to be on my side. The perfect meal, not too short, not too big, pure blood, and male, guess I just found my next target.
The target walks down a dimly lit street. Even the perfect spot to make the kill, wow, luck must really be on my side. The man is wearing formal church-like attire. The heels of his polished black shoes click as they slap the concrete sidewalk. He walks past a dark alley. Now my chance, I can corner him here and then as they say ‘out of sight, out of mind’. Because I enjoy playing with my food before eating it, I whisk past my new meal. That really scares him, because he starts to quicken his pace. But now, every few seconds the man is looking back, positive that someone or something is following him. The man spots a blindingly bright light coming from the café down the street and heads toward it. You know what they say, don’t go toward the light. Stu;id people kill me. Not wanting to find a new target, I lunge toward him. He falls and screams for help. I jump. He struggles to get up. I strike him in his chest, not too hard, just enough to make him think that I hit like a man. still the impact makes him gasp. He pulls out his wallet throwing it at me. Huh, As if I wanted your money. This guy has a lot to learn. I strike him again, this time harder and in the stomach. He doubles over in pain. Then I hit him again, his head slamming into the concrete as he falls once again. My power to read minds gives me the privilege to see brief images of the man’s life passes before my eyes, his childhood, marriage, divorce, regret, lack of will to live and something so horrible, it forces me to stand up.
“What should I do to you before I kill you, hmm?” I say to the man just to see his pathetic facial expression. He lets out a girlish scream. If Alex were here, she’d have him washing her feet. This thought and his scream itself makes me laugh aloud.
“Wha-what are you?” the miserable fool stumbles. He must know that I am not human. What clever fellow. I’ll grant him credit for that. This is the first time one of my meals has asked me that.
I snatch him by his polyester jacket and drag him deep into the dark alley we just past. Slamming hard onto the ground, he winces in pain. I reach into his mind and force him to remember the one thing he regrets the most and caused me such shock.
Vivid images form in the man’s mind of the day he so badly wants to forget. The man was always known for having a hot-head, so people stayed away from him. But, this woman, she kept coming around. She kept sticking her nose in other people business. He didn’t mean to hurt her; he just wanted to scare her. The man was selling illegal drugs to help pay for his daughter’s surgery. One night the man was counting his money and hiding his drugs, when the woman came and started being noisy. He tried to convince her nothing was going on but she kept pushing and pushing and the man finally broke. He grabbed the woman and tossed her out the window, but she hit the ground hard. Too hard, the man was still so angry, he couldn’t stop himself. He bludgeoned her to death. He found an old cemetery and buried her body with his mom’s. The two women he loved the most, but ended up killing both. The next day, the man gave up his parental rights for his daughter reminded him too much of his wife. The man starts to cry. Oh, he wants me to feel sorry for him. Puhleeze!
“You really are worthless! Don’t worry, death is near.” I say and break his arm for emphasis. I kick in his ribs next. I laugh at the crunching sound it makes while he rolls over in agonizing pain. I grab him by his neck and throw him across the alley. He hits the wall, letting out a desperate cry for mercy. He tries with all his might to stand. Just as he’s has one foot off the ground, my foot lashes out at lightning speed and smacks him dead in the side of his head.
“Fine, I’ll give you mercy.” I say laughing menacingly. I step on his foot, breaking every bone in it. This is getting a little boring sense he can’t back in more. I raise my head, mouth tingling with thirst. The moonlight gleams on my usually sharp canines.
“N-no! Impossible…You aren’t real?” the man squeals.
“Ha. I’m as real as the place your going. To Hell with you.”
“Well, that was a little over dramatic…even for you, Clare.” Another creature of the night appears from the shadows. I stare up, dropping the lifeless pile of crap. I cock my head.
“Really? I thought it was PG-13.”
“PG-13? What are we? 12. I mean if you’re going to make him beg for mercy, you should’ve made him suffer more. Next time, pull out his throat first. His childish squeals were giving me headache. God. The Hell thing was a bit much. I’ve been there, not all that exciting of a place to be, trust me, worst vacation ever!” Alex says in her annoying know-it-all persona.
“Whatever Alex.” I say rolling my eyes.
Don, a wolf demon, walks out into the moonlight. He starts to sing the stupidest song ever made. So not only do I have to deal with little miss know-it-all here, he makes it worse by singing. Come on, who sings after witnessing a murder. I laugh at the thought.
“For real?” I ask, still laughing.
“You guys are idiots.” Alex sighs in the most annoying way ever. “I’m leaving. My books are way better company.” Obviously she doesn’t find Don funny.
“Forget you then, the puppy is way better company anyway!” I yell after her. Man, I hate little miss know-it-all. You’d think after centuries of living, you’d learn to chillax. She’s always so serious all the time. It’s like learn the meaning of fun. Now I’m bored and completely alone. Well, not exactly, I think as I remember Don. He seriously needs to learn the concepts of breath mints. If you’re going to jump out and start singing, at least have breath that doesn’t reek on freshly devoured human flesh. Nasty breath having ass bastard. I start laugh at the image of Don using breath mints after eating a man alive, like when you just finished eating something with way too much garlic.
“Wait, did you just call me a puppy?” Don growls after Alex is gone.
“As a matter of fact, I did. Do you have a problem with that” I say smiling. He looks a little serious. He does that a lot, pretends to take things seriously. He holds his serious face. I bear my fangs. Then he just starts to laugh. So I take it as a joke. Don morphs into his wolf form and whines like a dog who hasn’t gotten a treat for retrieving a Frisbee.
“Alex was right, you really are an idiot. Hey, at least I said you were way better company then her?” I say. He continues to whine. I laugh. I retreat into the darkness, heading home for a little shut eye. Who knows what will happen tomorrow.

my nameless story with friends! chapter 1!

1

Don

I sit on the windowsill of my room, thinking about my past. These people are after us and I wonder if it’s because of me. I have been in a lot of trouble with the Enemy since I stopped working with them. The Enemy has disliked vampires for a long time. They set out to eliminate them for good. They had the young and the most talented go out and do their dirty work for them. I just so happened to be one of those unfortunate people.
I was 50 years into my werewolf aging process, when it all started. I was walking in a forest type area when I feel the earth move under my feet. I look around trying to see if any of the animals had sensed it to. They had. They all started running in the opposite direction, like it was me who created the diversion. Then the ground opened up from under me and I fell into what seemed like a bottomless pit.

. . .
I woke up to water being thrown in my face. I jumped up with a start. The people around me backed up with caution. They wore purple robes with gold lining. They all carried gold staff’s with the head of a king cobra on the top. They looked at me intently, as if they were trying to figure out the best way to kill me. I was lying on , what seemed like a brand new purple sofa. I had probably been out cold for a while now. Great I thought. They must know what I am. What do they want from me? A thank you for the ride?
I knew almost immediately where I was and who these people were. The other vampires and werewolves had told stories of their past experiences with the Enemy. They never described them with honor though. They always had these gruesome experiences where they had to do this back-breaking work or go out and kill vampires or something. My best friend had been one of those unfortunate people that the Enemy took interest in. He was considered a vital instrument for them.

He was one of the best vampire hunters they had before he escaped. He had also warned me that if the Enemy summons you, they almost always want something form you. Either that or they want you dead. This is what influenced my first question.
“What do you want from me?” Those were the first words out of my mouth. I don’t know why, but that seemed like the best thing to say in this situation. I didn’t think that they wanted me dead simply because I didn’t do anything. At least, I didn’t think I did. They all stared at me, like I wasn’t speaking English or something. So, I repeated myself.

A man of a tall and built stature walked towards me. He was mean looking, like he had all authority. His robes were different from the others. His was purple like the others, but his robe had red lining, and he had some kind of emblem on his right, which was lined in gold. I knew that he was their superior. He extended his hand to me and I was reluctant to receive it. Why would I want to shake the man’s hand that abducted me for no reason?
”My name is Alexander Randoff.” He said while closing his elegant robe. “You are here for many reasons. Your question was irrelevant. You know exactly what we want from you. You aren’t stupid, or so we thought.” Alexander said inclining his head.
“And what might that be? I don’t have time for your games. Alexander is it? The names’ pretty prehistoric to me. On the downside though, I have stuff to do and people to see.” I replied sarcastically. He was such a smart-ass.
“It looks as if we are going to have to do this the hard way Don. You will cooperate with us” He said gesturing around him.”… Or we will have to do things that will make you do it anyway.” Alexander said, circling me. “So what will it be?”
“I wouldn’t cooperate with you if you were sticking a pipe up my anus.” I said smartly. Who do they think they are, coming at me like that? I never have and never will have anybody talk to me like I’m nothing. And in situations like this, you better believe that I will be the smartest smart ass I can be.
“Fine, Victor, bring her in.” That was the worst moment of my life. I will never forget it. The man that was obviously called Victor brought in my mother. She looked all beat up. She looked me straight in the eye and said her last words to me.
“Don’t do what they will ask of you.”

The knife sliced her throat before I could move. Immediately, rage took over me. It gripped me like a blanket. I jumped up and grabbed the first person I could get to by the neck and twisted. I did he same to the next. By then, I was so filled with rage that I couldn’t stop. The others we’re running like crazy in all directions. But I noticed that the leader was standing still in the middle of the room. He stood there, so confident. It made me angry even more. I tried making my way towards him, but in vain. It seemed like I would never reach him, like I was moving in place. This man had some kind of power that the others didn’t. He would be harder to face than I had thought.

He then pulled out an Excalibur sword and wave at me, willing me to challenge him. I took the bait. Looking all around me, I spotted a Rapier sword on the other side of the room. I lunged at it. Alexander made an effort to get there before me and I knocked him out of my way. I snatched the sword by its hilt and turned to face him. He was in ready position, willing me to make a move. I decided to play it fair. Normally, I would cheat, morph into my wolf form and bite his head clean off his shoulders. He was lucky. I didn’t know who he was or how he would react. Who knows? He might end up kicking me to the other side of the planet. I don’t intend to lose though. So, bring it on sucker!

I advanced fast, aiming my sword at his neck. To my amazement, I missed. I am the most experienced word fighter alive, or so I thought. He was good though. He came towards me in a speed that I would have to use all my strength for and slashed my shoulder. Blood seeped though my white tee-shirt. I writhed in pain. Never had I experienced a pain this great. Lucky that I heal rather quickly. This also made me rather angry. I hated the fact that I might have found my equal. I was always the best at everything. And now I had found my match. Well, If I should die today, I might as well do it like a man. Like the man Alexander will never be. I will fight. I ran forward with my sword over my head. My action was so sudden that Alexander fell back. I took my chances and slashed my sword at his neck. Not enough to kill him immediately though. To my utter amazement, he healed as quickly as I had just a few minutes before. That could only mean two things. Either he was a werewolf, or he had the blood of a vampire. Even vampires don’t heal as fast as we do. A wound as fatal as the one I just gave him would take at least fifteen minutes to heal on a vampire. For a werewolf, it would only take a few seconds. So, this man must be a werewolf, or have the blood of one. He healed quickly holding hi sword like a real swordsman. Man I thought, this man is really good. I just might not beat him. I scanned the room, desperately looking for something that would help me in the least. I spotted an Excalibur on the right wall of the room. I raced towards it. Alexander made no attempt to stop me. I grabbed the sword by the hilt, swinging it like a baton. A rapier and a Excalibur is a pretty neat combination in combat, I thought to myself. I assumed that Alexander would try to find another weapon to be equal with me. But he didn’t. I took that as being a bit arrogant. Too sure of himself. I wanted to wipe that snide grin off his face so badly. He was going to pay. I vowed to myself that very moment that I would make him pay for what he was planning to do to me and to all the people he already did it to. I resumed my fighting stance. This time, Alexander came for me. He had the look of death in his eyes. He was a heartless snake, wanting nothing but what would benefit him. He raised his sword high over his head and brought it down before I could move he slash my throat, neck, and chest, all in one movement. Even a werewolf could not survive long with wounds like that.
“I will ask you to join us one more time. You will join me or die miserably. Which will it be?” I never thought I would see the day that I would agree to do anything like this but the next thing I did was extraordinary. I agreed to life.

. . .

They lead me down a long elaborately decorated corridor, to a small room on the right side of the hall. They pushed me into the room and told me that they would be bringing me food when they thought it was necessary and that when I felt like cooperating they would let me out and that we could start all over again.

There was a single window in the room. It was like a picture frame to me. I sat there, just looking. Like I was trying to find a part of me that was missing. I probably didn’t appreciate how precious life was until now. Until it was taken away from me. I sat there going over all the the things that were important to me. Not that there were that many things though. I think of my mom. She was the only person that I really cared about, and they must have known that. That’s why they took her first. They also knew that I was the most accomplished killers in the world of the supernatural. No one normal could get past me. Until now, I took what I had become for granted. I thought that this was the best thing in the world and that I was the most accomplished at anything that was thrown my way. But I was wrong. When the clock of life strikes 12 again, I realized that the time I had was truly wasted. And for the next hour, I can choose to live it to the fullest. Or to waste it.

A little while later, the guards came and opened the door. They proceeded to hold me in an iron grip. I was about to resist when Alexander strode through the door with as much confidence as I had when he first attacked me. And believe me, that was a lot.

“So, are you ready to join us?” He asked. I thought about the earlier events. This guy had abducted me and killed my mother and on top of all of that he had looked me in this cell of a room. And he actually had the nerve to ask me to join forces with him. What the hell. I decided to play dumb.

“Join what?” I asked. I was seriously trying to keep a straight face. This guy seriously thought that he was the most menacing think in the world. But I know from experience that everybody has a weak spot. I figured that his was the lacking of the ability to care. So I’ll play dumb for a while, then I’ll play in to the how could you attitude thing.

“Join my organization. I will not stand for your insanity Don. I know what kinds of backgrounds you come from. I knew when I took you what you would be difficult to talk sense into. But I will kill every person that you have ever come in contact with until you decide to cooperate.” With that, he stalked out of the room with his guards at his heels.

“What now?” I yelled into the darkness. It seemed as if I had no choice but to do as Alexander asked of me. But that’s exactly what mom told me not to do. I knew that agreeing to cooperate with them would put me in a bad situation. They knew darn well that I was more than capable of killing vampire’s. And that’s probably what they will have me doing. So I guess I’ll wait until they come back and agree and do some stupid secret handshake or something and get this over with. I sat there for a little while longer, and then I got tired of waiting for them to come back so I banged on the door until someone came and deliver me from hell. This time it was Alexander himself. He actrually had the nerve to come into my presence unprotected. Who the hell does he think he is. Fine if he wants to play bad guy, then I’ll let him play the bad guy.

“Are you ready to join us the Don?” Alexander asked

“Yes I am” was all I said. he escorted me down the long corridor and in to the Grand Hall. he had a table set up there. Ready to tell me what was at stake. I sat down with him. We were followed by other people that they had abducted for their interrogation. I was probably the only person that had put up a fight. When we were all seated he started his speech.

“You are all here for the same reason. You all have an exceptional ability to do what we will need you to do. In other words you are the best that we could find. Your tasks is for you to set out and kill all of the vampires you can find. We will try our best to rid them form the face of the earth.”

“But vampires are our friends!” Random person says. Alexander come up from behind the person and sliced his neck. If here was one thing that I could conclude from that, its that this guy was cold. Some of his men took the dead wolfen away. Alexander went on with his speech.

“You see what happens to people that oppose my practices.” He says gesturing around him. “Don’t try me”

“I might as well commit suicide.” I said a bit too loudly. Alexander gave me an eye, but left it alone. For now, I guess.

“For your time here, you will become the worlds most accomplished and known vampire hunters in history. The world will bow down to you--”

“He sounds a bit like Hitler to me.” Someone whispered to me. I chuckled. It was true, he did sound like Hitler.

“And remind me what happened to Hitler in the end?” I asked smiling. I didn’t expect him to answer, and he didn’t.
