I was wondering what was going on. At first I thought it was because of time spent on here or posts or even posts per day.

I don't know. I kind of like having the button but it makes me feel kind of cheap that I get perks. I mean I like the fact that we get the avatar creator but getting a little button that announces "I love Mene" because I spend money on it feels different.

Knerd 05-06-2011 02:52 PM

I'm afraid that I can't afford to donate either, but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to look through the forums and see so many people who can.

We all love Mene and I'm sure we all want to see the site ultimately succeed. I think that this is a cute little addition.

Dottie Mae Evans 05-06-2011 03:45 PM

I was wondering about the little icon too. Now I guess I have an answer. :) Do we lose the icon when we don't donate on the regular bases? Or is it with us forever? :) I only donate when able to. ^_^;

Bartuc 05-06-2011 04:35 PM

Is there a way to disable it? I don't personally like the idea of people knowing if I donate or not. =/

Protagonist 05-06-2011 04:53 PM

Why...
Can they make an on/off button?

Krissy 05-06-2011 06:28 PM

It's not a bad idea for people who want to show it off. At least it's cute.

Guivre 05-06-2011 07:43 PM

Interesting. I think it's probably a good idea. I might like it better if it matched the other buttons, though it is cute enough.

I have to admit I haven't donated that much to Mene, but I think it's good to support sites I enjoy.

PWEEP 05-06-2011 07:59 PM

Is there a way to turn it off?

Rusalka 05-06-2011 09:11 PM

Well nice to see there are some form of badges coming out. xP
Though it did confuse me because it wasn't there yesterday hahah.

The Whitewolf Shaman 05-06-2011 09:12 PM

I love mene too, just not the economy :(

In a way I'm inclined to agree. I don't donate to show off to people that I donate, I donate because I love mene. To me a button under our names is like saying "I'm better then you because I have a better job" . Which really isn't nice. In its essentials its cute but I'm not a fan.

I don't get it... some people have 'em and some people don't... some have donated to the site, and others haven't... how odd. I don't believe I have one?//

Edit: Nope. I don't.

I am a member of another community where if you donate, you get a button on your profile that says "I support xsite", and they changed it so that you have a little  icon after your username, as well. I feel peeved because I DO support the site in every way I can... just not financially. My ability to donate to online communities is very limited and I normally just have to choose one.

'Back in the day' when there was nothing but two 'donation letters' per month, I donated to a certain other community site. Now, when I can, I choose to donate to Menewsha, when I am able.

I've been on both sides of the coin and I think that the best 'solution' is for the on/off option for donors to choose whether or not they want to show, in this way, that they all love Mene, because I'm sure that there are plenty of people who love Mene but cannot donate due to various reasons. I'm sure there are also people who like the badge and the ability to use the DAC.

I also agree with whoever said they would like it more if it matched the other buttons. It... 'sticks out a bit' right now.

It does make me feel good, but to me the weight of the people that probably feel BAD by seeing the icon by my name outweighs the good feeling, and especially while it is as inconspicuous as it is right now, I would like the ability to 'hide' it.

Mageling 05-07-2011 01:13 AM

My parents threatened to lock my bank account if I donated to another website, so I feel bad that I can't donate, and I really kind of want one of those little badges.

Krissy 05-07-2011 01:25 AM

I'd also like the option to turn it on/off, as cute as it may be.

Exactly. I dont want people knowing I donate.

Plus, I dont 'love' the site. Its just something I do :/

Popcorn Gun 05-07-2011 03:51 AM

Awww, that's too bad, because I do love mene too.
Ah well, maybe I'll be able to donate again sometime soon.
:' 3
They're adorable though.

And Jelly's got another special something on her avatar.

I think the button is a cute idea, and I personally don't have anything against it. I don't feel like having it makes me any more specialer than the next person...Just it's nice to see that there is a lot of people contributing to keep the site running. :) And well if you can't contribute financially, you're helping in other ways.

Kah Hilzin-Ec 05-07-2011 05:26 AM

I don't get hot nor cold that I don't have the badge (and heaps upon heaps of other users apparently do have it ), but it seems those who do have it worry because it displays that they donate, as if having your gold count publicly shown isn't intimidating enough :XD I personally think it's a cute little thing. Whether I have it or not, it's still pleasing to the eyes and a reminder you're always thinking on the users *-* Let them have an on/off button though, as cute as it may be it still can intimidate some people... :P

I have to agree with this. It's a sweet idea, but I really don't like showing off, and I'm not able to donate to Mene anymore either because of financial issues, so I feel like a cheat having the badge. Also I agree with whoever said it sticks out a bit too much.. if it were smaller and more like the other badges it wouldn't bother me so much.

That is why you hide your gold in a trade with your mule account. :ninja:

Wynna 05-07-2011 03:39 PM

I think they're really cute and I love them right now. :)

The Wandering Poet 05-07-2011 07:35 PM

I think it would be better as a sign of monthly donation than having it for all-time... since I've only donated once... that gives a false image of lots of people donating to mene monthly... however if it showed people who donated that month, it would give a better idea of who regularly donates... if they want to show it...

Snowberry 05-14-2011 12:14 AM

They're cute!

Can I trade my badge for a yan blob? o3o

say-i-love-you 05-24-2011 05:47 PM

I don't know if we get those buttons by donating because I've donated to mene several times in the past including this month and yet I still don't have a button. But I wish I did :(
