I had a short chat with Insomniac and he thinks your problem may be with not following the transaction through all screens. The next time you choose to donate, try to follow the transaction until you get the "thank you!" confirmation and hopefully that will solve the problem. :)

say-i-love-you: Do you donate by SMS? I'm guessing that you do, and that will be the problem. SMS donations are hard to track, so it's likely that the cute badges only show up for people who use Paypal.

jellysundae: Actually, SMS is easier to track. Paypal is the issue, since it's not always reliable as to when Paypal notifies our server. With SMS, the code is generated by our server, and therefore is easier to track.

Well that's nice to know at least :)
