Game of Thrones
Has anyone heard of it? It's a tv series HBO has put out based on the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novel series by George R.R. Martin.
Quote:
I'm halfway through the first book, 'Game of Thrones', and I'm amazed with how close the episodes actually follow the novel. I'm loving both the book and the series, absolutely mind-blowing. The show does have adult content (fights, blood, death, female nudity), but it's not distracting from the overall story and plot. |
loving game of thrones so far.
THough some of the violence made me mad.......like the killing of the horse in the last episode....not all that necessary. |
Explicit rating at its clearest.

I'm reading Game of Thorns, about half way right now. I wish I could watch the show the commercials look awesome but I don't have cable *pouts*

FireOnis: I recommned you go to project free TV. It'll have it there. Just type inproject free TV into google and it should be the first one there. You can get pretty much anything on that site.
Unfortunately I can't read the book series as I can't find an audio copy and the print is too small for me to read in teh books so I'll need to wait. I'm loving the series so far though. Am I the only one that thought taht Bran was a girl the first time they saw him? I think he's completely adorable! Not to mention the direwolves! I LOVE wolves and the fact that it actually SAID that they were direwolves was even better! Although I'm beginning to get a little confused with who each character is but that's only because I have a hard time matching up names to faces and it's usually clearer in teh books for me. Speaking of...are the books anywhere near as graphic as the show when it comes to the 'mature' encounters? I'm just curious. Not that it's the worst thing I've ever seen. I watch a lot of things that're violent and I watched "Sparticus: Blood and Sand" for a while before I got bored of it so compared to taht Game of Thrones really isn't that bad. Do you think they'll go through tthe whole series or just the first book? |
Magician Girl Mirani: Thanks for the tip I'll look into it.
Yea I think the books get kind of graphic but nothing to bad really. I think it would be cool if they did the whole series, it would give them a reason to do a multiple season TV series. |
I really need to find the books now.
|
Couldn't agree with you more Cora. If the series is this good (and usually adaptions are horrible) then the books must be absolutely amazing!
|
The books are absolutely amazing, I can vouch for that much. I recommend them to all who haven't had the pleasure of reading them, and perhaps a reread is in order if you have. The characterization is absolutely superb and scheming, oh the scheming <3. That being said I'm absolutely in love with the HBO adaptation (the casting, for instance, was very well done) and can't wait to see what they do with the finale (among other things).

I've finally caught up in the books to where they are in the show, and wow! It's amazing how close they are!
The books amazing read! |
I've just finished book 2 myself. Have downloaded 3 and 4 for the time being, until I can track down the versions that go with my copies of 1 and 2 *is a stickler about the way her books look* >.< It's been rather difficult to find paperbacks from the older set since the show came out and they started putting out the larger books and the new boxed sets.
Also, while we're on the topic of GoT, would anyone be interested in a GoT related roleplay. I'd love you forever if you were. o.o Aaaaand to get this section moving a bit more, what are everyone's top 5 favorite characters? Thus far, my own are as follows: Littlefinger, Tyrion, Arya, Jorah, and a tie between Renly and Varys. Of course if we were talking book characters as well I'd have to find a spot for Jaqen H'ghar as well. o.o; I must say, I'm really looking forward to seeing how they portray him. |
Thanks for helping move the thread along Seridano! ^.^ I'm really bad for stuff like this.
I would so be interested in a rp! hmm.. My favorite characters would be.... Daenerys (well the way she is becoming... not how she was in the beginning), Jon Snow, Arya, Tyrion, and Little Finger. But I have to admit, my all-time favorite characters are the DireWolf pups ^.^ Most hated character. 4 way tie between Cersei, Jaime, Sansa, and Viserys. |
Keeping in mind I haven't seen the last two episodes of Game of Thrones (need to watch them later on today) I'd love to do an RP based on game of thrones! I really need to read the books (well the audiobooks) so...does anyone know where I could find a free copy online or a free version of the game of thrones books that I could read using the computer so I can make the text bigger (I'm half blind so I can't read normal books cuz the print's too small and it's ridiculously annoying since it stops me reading books cuz the audio versions are so RIDICULOUSLy expensive!!!!!!!)
-coughs- Anyway...back to the conversation at hand! Favourite characters so far 1) Arya (did this come out before Eragon? Cua that name seems very familiar to me?) 2) Tyrion (He's just so amusing! I love his character! Way to go Tyrion!) 3) John Snow (Yeah he's pretty cool. I love the way he's portrayed so far and I'm looking forward to more character development) 4) Bran (so far anyway although I swar I thought he was a girl at first. He's adorable!) 5) Can I use the direwolf pups as my fifth favourite character? PLEASE!!!!! I'm still getting to know the other characters so far) Least Liked Characters 1) Jaime (Grr...wanna punch the little sh*t every time he comes onscreen!) 2) Sansa (she got her wolf killed!!!!!!!!!) 3) Geoffrey (dunno if I spelt his name right but I don't particularly care. He's a little prat!) 4) Viserys (Don't get me STARTED on that piece of horse crap! Excuse my language but I seriously can't stand him!) |
I know where you can find both the pdfs to read and the audiobooks, which would you prefer?...Keep in mind I do suggest actually getting the books at some point, if only because buying the books supports the author/series and so forth...and books in general. With those new fangled ebook readers, books are on the down and out. [/endrant]
Oooh RP! RP! Glad I'm not the only one who'd be interested. Who would you lot be interested in playing? Also, dire wolves need more screen time. So much love! <3 |
I wouldn't mind either but I'd prefer the link to the audiobooks please. I intend to buy the books but I'd rather find out whether I like them or not before I buy them since audiobooks are really expensive and I don't want to buy a really expensive book and then find out that I don't like it. I don't think that'll happen but I'd rather not take the chance.
---------- Also I agree! The wolves DEFINITELY need more screen time! -sniffles- It's a shame that direwolves are extinct...they're gorgeous!!!!! |
Will send the first one to you shortly, m'dear.
|
Thank you!!!!!!
