Sol took the holocron that Cora placed in his hand. He was eager to examine it, but more pressing matters needed to be dealt with. Sol pocketed the the small cube like object and helped Cora over to the Medbay, having her sit so he could properly dress the puncture wound. "I'll clean this up." Sol said softly, as he went to work removing the Sloth mucous with a sterilizing foam. As he cleaned, he remembered he hadn't finished his story yet. With nothing better to talk about for the next few minutes, Sol worked his courage back up and began again. "S.. Sorry... I didn't finish my story. Uh... The ship I was on, Pirates attacked and.. They... They killed everyone." Sol paused for a moment as the memory came back to him before he went back to cleaning. "My parents... Hid me. Told me not to make a sound and Then... The pirates killed Them too... I was 4. Master Marek found me after the pirates fled. I.. I haven't ever spoken since... T-till now... I mean..."

Completing his story, Sol finished scrubbing the mucous off Cora's leg and began wrapping it with a clean bandage. "Sorry if that hurt. It was hard to get off." He said as he finished the last wrap, trying to avoid any further discussion about his past. A strange feeling was beginning to settle on him and he could have sworn the holocron felt warm in his pocket. He dismissed it as just his imagination but took it out of his pocket anyways and set it on the exam table. "Done." He said as he reached for an injection syringe. "We should... To be safe." Sol said gesturing with the device. "Take uh.. A blood sample! I mean..." He blurted out when he remembered that she couldn't see what he was holding. "...Sorry." He said, feeling his face heat up. In fact, he was starting to feel a bit hot all over he realized. What was going on? "Is... Is it hot in here?" Sol asked as he got up, pulling at his collar. "Uh.. Is your leg? Better?"

((There we go! All done! It's so helpful to watch star wars clips as I write ))

zigbigadorlube 05-24-2012 01:23 AM

Cora started when Sol took her arm to lead her to the med bay. She had expected him to begin examining the holocrom and had not been anticipating the sudden physical contact. As her racing heart returned its normal pace, Cora let her partner lead her to the back of the ship. Once she was seated on the metal table in the middle of the room, Sol began tending the wound with some sort of foamy substance that smelled oddly of coconuts. The first layer of dried-up mucous came off quite easily but the subsequent ones proved more stubborn. Cora did her best not to show her discomfort and was thankful when Sol began retelling his story as it provided a welcome distraction from the pain. The young padawan listened attentively to his painful experience. Though she didn't know what to say, Cora was still able to provide a sense of reassurance through the force and thankfully Sol saved her the trouble of verbally responding.

She felt her partner shift and heard a faint metallic sound as he set something down on the table beside her and a moment later approached with something else, something small and delicate thought she couldn't quite make out what it was. "We should... To be safe." Confused, Cora tried to fill in the blanks but fortunately Sol quickly realized his error. "Have you ever taken blood before?" she asked apprehensively, questioning whether he should try it if he hadn't. Sol seemed distracted however. "It does feel a bit warm..." Cora remarked, noticing the temperature now that he pointed it out though she didn't attribute it to anything abnormal. Thankful that he had momentarily forgotten about the blood sample, Cora stood and tested out her leg. "It feels a bit better, less stiff anyway," she observed aloud, "Thank you." There was a moment of awkward silence before the padawan spoke again, "Did you feel anything strange when we boarded?" she asked, curious to know if Sol had noticed something as well.

Car'a'Carn 05-26-2012 09:21 AM

"uh, once..." Sol mumbled in response to her question. It wasn't too hard. He had the blood vial attached and had only to press the needle end against the crook of her elbow. The injector did the rest. Sol momentarily forgot about the blood sample though as he tried to catch up to what Cora was saying. He was glad to hear her leg was feeling better. Hopefully that meant that there was no lasting damage. He was afraid there might have been some tissue and nerves killed when the venom started to spread. As gross as it was, they were lucky the Sloths happened to be there when it happened. "It was nothing. I'm really not much of a medic." He said, waving away her thanks, "I'm sure you would have done the same for me."

Her next question immediately made Sol think back to the holocron in his pocket moments before. "Well... I.. It's nothing..." He started, "I-I thought.. The holocron, felt like it was heating up. That's why I.. took it out." He finished, gesturing at the cube sitting on the med bay counter. "It was... Faint.. though." He still thought it might have been his imagination. "I think we should.. Examine it.. More closely." He went to cross his arms and discovered the syringe gun still in his hand. He had almost forgotten about the blood test when Cora had changed the subject. Sol was getting the distinct feeling she didn't like the idea of getting poked in the arm. "Hey... You.. We didn't finish.. The blood draw.." He said moving closer to her. He reached down and gently lifted her arm up, holding it there. "Just need the crook of your elbow.. The syringe gun does the rest. That OK?" Sol asked waiting for her permission.

zigbigadorlube 05-28-2012 03:28 AM

Cora listened intently as Sol almost begrudgingly admitted that he had indeed felt something, even if he didn't seem convinced of it himself. The holocron was surely the most important clue available to them at the moment. If only they could get it to function... Sol was right, they would need to examine the object in depth and try to discover its workings.

The blind padawan was just about to suggest that they do so when Sol interrupted to remind her that they had yet to take the blood sample. "I was hoping you had forgotten..." Cora answered, blushing faintly. "Alright, go ahead," she said with a sigh, resigning herself to the short procedure. Thankfully Sol was right. A quick push of the button initiated the injection and drew the necessary blood sample with minimal pain.

With that finished, Cora pulled away, rubbing one hand lightly over the tiny puncture in her skin before letting it drop to her side. "Maybe we should send a transmission back the temple? I'm sure one of the masters there could explain how access the holocron's contents..." Cora suggested, moving around the table to gently touch the holocron.

Car'a'Carn 05-29-2012 07:07 AM

Sol placed the injector against Cora's skin. "Almost did forget..." He said as he noticed her slight flush. "Don't worry. Won't hurt." He said trying to soothe her fears. "K... 1.. 2.. " Sol pulled the trigger before he got to 3 hoping that the unexpectedness of it would help lessen any pain. Cora said nothing as her blood filled the test vial so he assumed that it hadn't caused her too much discomfort. The vial finished filling and Sol took it to the analyzer station to examine it. "Should just take... A second" He said as he loaded the vile into the machine for it to run it's tests. After a series of rapid beeps and a few short seconds later the results were displayed for inspection. The toxin injected was still present in Cora's blood but it looked like what little was left was rapidly being neutralized by Sloth's mucous anti-venom. "Nothing to worry about," He said looking at Cora, "Not much... Toxin left. Being neutralized."

Glad that there weren't going to be any further complications with the spider sting, Sol sat gazing at the holocron. How were they going to get it to work? Could it be broken? He wished there was more information about them, but they were so rare, very few people knew much about them. We could try using the object analysis scanner, He thought. It might show them something about it that could help. His silent revere was broken when Cora suggested sending a message back to the temple. "That's... not a.. bad idea." Sol said, looking out the door to the cockpit, wondering why he hadn't thought of it himself. "Why don't we, go set up a.." Sol fell silent suddenly as he turned back to Cora. Was the holocron glowing? But when Sol blinked there was nothing out of the ordinary. dumfounded, he tried to finish his sentence, "Uh... Set up uh.. a uh... communications link... to the temple, Did you just see..? I mean.. I guess not.. but I mean, that jus.. uh.. I.. it.. um..." Sol stopped, not sure exactly how to describe what he had seen to Cora.

zigbigadorlube 05-31-2012 12:32 AM

Cora nodded to show that she had heard him but was too distracted thinking about the holocon to give a verbal answer. Something felt a tiny bit different now, but she couldn't determine why exactly. The older padawan stood contemplating the object before her as she waited to see if Sol would comment on her idea. When it came, his response was clipped. She was starting to get used to her partner's vocal issues but it was still a bit jarring at times...especially when he stopped mid-sentence for many moments.

Eventually Sol finished his phrase but he seemed...distracted? Cora didn't even get a chance to ask what he was thinking before he broke in with another jumbled-up thought however. "What happened? Did it do something just now?" Cora asked excitedly. She wanted to pick up the holocron and start fiddling with it right away but resisted the urge. If her touch had indeed caused some something, it would be best to leave it exactly as it was so she could try to replicate the effect more easily.

Car'a'Carn 06-02-2012 08:11 AM

"I.. Well.. It just.. It was glowing... Radiating light. I blinked. It was gone..." Sol, stumbled though his reply, a little shocked by the display the holocron had just put on. What had made it do that? Was it reacting to Cora's touch? Sol got up and walked to where Cora was standing in front of the cube. I wonder what would happen if I touched it? He thought to himself. Sol slowly reached out his hand to touch the cube but half way there, he stopped, thinking better of it. Cora had been the one to make it glow. Maybe she could do it again?

The only thing was he had been looking away towards the cockpit when Cora had done whatever she had done, so he wasn't sure what it had been that triggered it. "I... wasn't looking when you... Touched it. What exactly did you do?" He asked, as he moved back to where he had been sitting in front of the analyzer. "I was here.. You suggested... Sending a communication, to the temple. I looked away.. Towards the cockpit. When I looked back at you... It was glowing.. Then I blinked and... Nothing. Can you do...?" Sol waved his hands vaguely in the air, "What ever it is you did... Again?"

zigbigadorlube 07-14-2012 07:33 PM

Cora’s heart began to beat faster with excitement. Sol confirming that the holocrom had activated, even if only for a moment, was possibly the best news she had heard all day. The young padawan listened to her partner’s description of what had happened attentively and when he asked if she could replicate the effect, Cora didn’t respond verbally, but hovered her hand over the holocron.

Using the force, she sensed out the exact location that her fingers had brushed against moments before, and gently rested her fingertips upon that spot. The holocron seemed to feel warm to the touch but Cora couldn’t tell if it was her body heat that had warmed it, or if the heat was emanating from the object itself. Her hand lingered upon the outside of the object, unsure of whether or not she had manage to reactivate the light until a voice began to emanate from the cube...

((Sorry for another long wait. Life has been so crazy lately. V_V))

Car'a'Carn 07-21-2012 06:34 PM

Sol waited a little impatiently for the cube to light up again while Cora began to fiddle with it once more. Perhaps it really was broken and the light he saw was some bit of stored up energy discharging from the cube... He had no way of knowing as he had only ever read about them in texts. He was starting to wonder if they should abandon their efforts and go see about sending a message when something happened.

Sol heard a strange disembodied voice emanating from the cube. "Do... Do you hear that too??" Sol asked, his excitement clear in his voice. "You... You did it!" Sol wasn't sure exactly what Cora had done but whatever it was, it had worked. The voice Sol heard was low and hard to make out. He couldn't quite understand what the voice was saying. "Is that... Master Sexton? I can't tell... And there's too much... Interference. I can't make out what he's saying... Can you?" Sol asked looking frustratedly at the cube.

((Sorry I didn't format the text when I posted it >.<; I was in a hurry and I didn't even realize [oops]... ))

zigbigadorlube 07-12-2013 12:43 AM

Cora didn't respond verbally to Sol's first question but merely nodded, straining her ears in an attempt to make sense of the noise emanating from the cube. The voice that spoke was definitely male but his words were hardly recognizable between bouts of static and the low volume of his speech. It seemed their victory in solving the holocron wasn't to be so easily won... "Do you think the ship is causing the interference?" she asked over the noise of rushing static, "Or is it the recording that is flawed?" As she waited to see what Sol thought on the matter, she left her hand in place on the cube on the off chance that something could clearly be made out over the static.

((Let's try to keep going with this for a while. If either of us decides we don't want to though, we shouldn't hesitate to let each other know, sound good?))

Car'a'Carn 07-18-2013 05:34 AM

Sol couldn't make out anything from the holocron through all the static. A random word here or there was intelligible but without any context it was utterly useless. Finally we find something that might give us some answers and it too is almost more trouble than it's worth, He thought to himself. "It might be both," Sol answered Cora's question. "I'll turn on the amplification circuit... And also Turn off the ships standby systems," Sol turned to go but halted for a moment, "Call me.. if anything changes." Walking out of the medical bay, he made his way to the cockpit, briefly stopping to seal the ship's exterior door for the night. Sitting down in the pilot's seat Sol checked for any communications that might have come while they were away. Finding none he began powering down all of the ships systems except the amplification circuit before heading back to Cora. Sol let out a sigh as he sat back down in the Medical bay. It had been a very long day. "I closed up the ship.. for the night. And then powered everything down. Did anything... Happen?" He looked questioningly at Cora.

((OK! I'm sorry I took so long. Of course the week we get back to it I have my first Hay cutting of the season >.< But I got everything all straightened out now! I promise to be quicker from now on!))
(((Also, It's a good thing all my work got deleted last night cause this is much better than what I had XD)))

zigbigadorlube 07-18-2013 10:42 PM

Cora simply nodded as Sol exited the medical bay and mentally followed his movement down the hall for a moment before turning her attention back to the cube in front of her. She was becoming increasingly concerned by the lack of contact from either Master Ginn or Master Marek.

Pushing aside her emotions, Cora focused on the metal cube that was still emitting static. She was beginning to notice a pattern in the breaks and upon further study she realized that the recording was repeating itself. 'I wonder if it's broken...' she thought to herself. That would surely explain the static. 'But what if it isn't?' she thought in the same breath. Master Ginn had taught her well not to rule out any option without concrete evidence to the contrary.

Focusing on the static patterns, she made a sudden realization. "It's coded!" she said to herself, so caught up in her discovery that she barely noticed Sol's return.

((It's all good. I already explained in our hangout thread that I've given up apologizing all the time about RP stuff, it's kind of silly in most cases really...))

Car'a'Carn 07-24-2013 07:08 AM

Sol silently leaned against the bulkhead of the ship watching Cora work with the cube. His question hung in the air as he waited for a reply though none came. She's completely ignoring me... He thought to himself feeling slightly indignant. Just as he was about to say something rude to her, he was saved by her sudden outburst.

Pulling away from the wall, Sol sat back down at the systems console, "initate search; Jedi Order transmission codes; Match with current data." Sol leaned back in his chair waiting for the computer to try and find a match to the particular code on the holocron. "Maybe this will find something," He said, turning his gaze back to Cora, "Also... Nice job... Figuring that out... I never would have thought..." Sol trailed off looking back at the console. He had seen holocrons before and there were plenty of them stored in the Temple Library. If any of them were coded though, he had never run across one. The console beeping brought his focus back to the moment as he surveyed the results. "There aren't any matches..." He relayed to Cora, "for any known message codes currently in use..." Sol sighed "Well... that didn't work..." He said frowning.

((So I saw! Which I'll have to get back to soon! Now that I got all the hay in, I'm a little less busy!))

zigbigadorlube 07-26-2013 11:56 PM

Cora started when Sol's voice spoke up from somewhere beside her to initiate a search in the ship's system console. The padawan waited patiently as Sol reviewed the resulting data only to reveal that it had come up as a negative match. "I think it's been tampered with," she said slowly, not sure what exactly gave her that impression.

Cora listened to the cube's static patterns for a moment longer before giving up. Letting go of the holocron, she pushed her snowy white hair off of her face and stood up to stretch. "That mystery can wait until morning though." It was getting late and Cora was sure that Sol was feeling the effects of their eventful day as well. Hopefully come morning they would have some contact from their masters as well...

Car'a'Carn 08-03-2013 06:43 PM

Sol sat silently watching Cora as she concentrated on the cube, taking the time to go back over the day's events. There were plenty of learning moments today, He thought. This was a dangerous planet, more so than he initially gave it credit for, and it demanded respect. If he kept making foolish decisions something worse, something irreparable could happen. It had been too close as it was with Cora's leg. He still had much to learn about being a jedi.

And then there was the holocron. He was starting to realize how important the lessons his Master was trying to teach him about sensing the force were, the same exercises that he spent little time on being too concerned with the more flashier aspects of the force. It's a good thing she's here, He thought to himself, I never would have figured out the cube without her. Sol promised himself from there on to spend more time on his teachings everyday. Just then, Cora stood up to stretch, breaking his silent reverie as she spoke. "Maybe you're right..." Sol said, pulling down his hood and rubbing his tiring eyes. "Uh.. Well... I guess we should go to bed then... Is your leg ok?"

zigbigadorlube 08-04-2013 03:45 AM

Cora nodded. Though she was used to the action-packed lifestyle of the jedi, her body felt sore from the physical exertion she had put forth that day. They had had some narrow scrapes and the padawan would be glad to get some down time after such an eventful day. She would need to stretch out her sore muscles before going to sleep to prevent being too stiff the next day and a little meditation to clear her mind before sleep wouldn’t hurt.

Turning her senses inward, she allowed the force to guide her down to the foreign bodies in her bloodstream. Their presence was very faint now and she assumed that all traces of the toxin would be gone by morning. ”I think it will be all right,” she said, in answer to Sol’s question. ”Thanks again,” she added, motioning to the bandage around her thigh. ”I think I’m going to turn in,” she said at last, waiting around just long enough to see if he had anything else to say before she retired to one of the cabins to sleep.

((FYI, I edited my last post a tiny bit. I realized that the ship had actually disappeared and I had forgotten. You have to be careful to pay attention for inconsistencies. ^^;))

Car'a'Carn 08-13-2013 07:14 AM

"Oh uh... Good. You're welcome... Well. Goodnight then," Sol said as he exited the medical bay heading for his cabin. Once there he slid the door shut, quickly getting cleaned up and changing into a fresh set of robes before collapsing onto his bed. All he wanted to do was sleep but having promised himself earlier to work harder at training his senses, he instead sat up, crossing his legs, and cleared his mind. Reaching out with his feelings he immediately could feel the dull, ridged, pulsing energy from the ship as he began to let go. He could sense Cora's presence and energy in her quarters, much more sharp and crisp than his own. The Holocron gently tugging at his senses, still resting on the table in the medical bay. Reaching out further, he opened himself to the flows of energy in the force, letting himself get lost in the current.

He could feel his senses being pulled out of the ship and out into the planet's natural currents. Something just outside the ability of his senses brushed against him, again and again, sending chills up his spine. He could feel the forest he and Cora had been in earlier as he passed by. It feels... odd. Not right, Sol thought to himself. He started to recognize the familiar feelings of the swamp as he was swept along. Quickly he came across the beginnings of the ruins he had discovered earlier and was surprised to feel the current of the force getting stronger, pulling him along faster, deeper into the ruins. A familiar pulsing energy started to thrum though his being. It was exactly like the feeling he had at the temple he found earlier only... here the feeling that something wasn't right was even stronger and the current was pulling him directly towards it. Sol tried to resist the flow but it kept pulling him on. Starting to panic, he concentrated hard on returning his consciousness to his body, on resisting the pull of the temple. Slowly he started to break free of the current until, with a last great effort, Sol pulled free entirely, falling back onto his bed gasping for air. What WAS that? He thought to himself as he tried to calm down. The exhaustion of the day was finally taking a toll on him however, his thoughts becoming fuzzy. I... have to tell... Cora... He thought as sleep took him.

(( OH! Hah! XD I remembered the ship disappeared so I thought you were saying that there might have been something on the ship that would have helped and that they had missed the opportunity to find it since it was now gone, or, that if they could find wherever it had disappeared to, they could solve the cube problem that way. ... Hmm I read a lot into that one didn't I? XD

Also, I came back across the Temple bit I wrote earlier so I thought I'd give this a try. If it doesn't feel right though, don't hesitate to change directions! ))

zigbigadorlube 08-17-2013 02:00 AM

Cora nodded, ”Goodnight.” The young padawan made her way to her own quarters and palmed the panel on the wall to slide the door open. Once she had passed by the sensor, the door closed behind her with a hiss and despite her fatigue, Cora didn’t immediately lay down to sleep. Instead she stripped down and took a moment to wash herself up at the sink. Using the refresher would have been a better idea but she didn’t want to have to redo the bandage Sol had wrapped around her leg already and wet hair was a pain to sleep on.

The Kyoorine would have been content to merely throw herself down on the bed and let sleep claim her but she resisted the urge and dressed in clean undershirt and pants. After hastily braiding back her long, white hair, Cora began to slowly work out the tension in her muscles, methodically stretching each party of her body until it had loosened. She probably could have fallen asleep where she sat on the floor, but the padawan forced herself to rise. She had been planning on meditating to clear her mind but found that sleepiness was quickly dulling her worries and decided that rest was more important.

Sliding beneath the sheets, Cora didn’t need to turn off the lights, and in fact hadn’t bothered turning them on at all. She knew that there would be some sort of safety light to combat the darkness of her cabin in case of a nighttime emergency but it wasn’t necessary in her case. The pillowcase was cool beneath her face and Cora was thankful for the ship’s regulated climate after a day spent running around in the hot and muggy day environment of Danboolag. Within seconds Cora was soundly asleep.

((Hehe, you did! I guess I didn't need to change it but oh well. Who knows where that ship went off to? I think it could be a good idea for them to visit the temple tomorrow. *Nods*))

Car'a'Carn 08-29-2013 08:02 AM

Sol's dreams were troubled, making him toss and turn through the night. Visions of his Master and Cora's stuck in dangerous situations filled his mind. In one a dark creature with a giant open maw swallowed them whole. In another, dark hooded creatures had captured them and were torturing them for Sol and Cora's location. Then the holocron would appear and each time Cora and he were stuck trying to activate it when their lives depended on it the most and each time they failed. Sol tossed and rolled into a better position as another dream took him. This time he was standing on top of an impossibly thin spire barely big enough for his feet. All around him darkness threatened to consume him but for a single source of light above him. Looking up he thought, I need to reach and get to the light! And as he reached upwards, he lost his balance on the tiny foothold and he toppled backwards off the spire, the light growing fainter as he was sucked down by the darkness screaming all the way.

"AHHHHHHH!!!!" Sol sat bolt upright, sweating and breathing hard. He felt the hard surface of the ships deck under his hands and realized that he must have fallen out of bed when his dream self had fallen. He got to his feet, still shaky, and wiped the sweat from his brow. Ugh... I had such horrible nightmares. I hope Cora didn't hear me scream, He thought to himself feeling faintly embarrassed. Sol quickly used the refresher to clean off the sweat from his nightmares, then righted his messy bed. Clean and with a fresh set of robes donned he exited his room heading for the mess hall. Sol still had his vision to discuss with Cora but it could wait for him to eat as he was starving. He passed by Cora's room on the way but decided not to bother her since it was still early. Entering the mess hall, he prepared a quick breakfast and sat down to fill his grumbling stomach and wait for Cora to wake.

((Annnnd DONE! And it only took me forever and a day >.< Also, Good idea! I'm all for a temple visit! Now I'm gonna go collapse in bed for real and get some sleep cause it's way late!))

zigbigadorlube 09-07-2013 03:59 AM

Cora was a sound sleeper, trusting her internal clock to rouse her at the appropriate hour and for the fore to wake her if anything was amiss. She slept peacefully through the night until at bout an hour before dawn, a scream rent the air. Sitting bolt upright, Cora resisted the urge to dash towards its source and instead relied upon the force to investigate. A quick sweep of the ship told her that no one but herself and Sol was aboard and a brief touch upon the other padawan's mind reassured her that he was startled but alright. Laying back against her pillow, Cora followed Sol's unique signature for a few minutes before dosing off again and when Sol's light footsteps passed by her door, Cora didn't wake.

An hour later, Cora's internal clock woke her. She had had trouble in the past with certain planets whose rotation speeds were quite different from her own but it usually only took her a few days to acclimate to her new environment with the aid of the force. Fortunately Danboolag's rotation wasn't far off from a standard day on Corcusant and Cora woke up feeling refreshed. Having bathed the night before, Cora simply donned her tunic and boots, opting to forgo her cloak in light of the humid weather of Danboolag's environment. Exiting her room, she followed Sol's energy to the mess hall and was pleased to find that her leg seemed to be back to normal.

The smell of food made Cora realize just how hungry she was. Last night sleep had seemed more important than dinner but now her stomach was complaining at the lack of sustenance. Sitting down across from Sol, Cora helped herself to the remnants of the breakfast he had presumably prepared. "Good morning," she offered as she heaped eggs and some sort of protein onto a plate. Not caring that the food was cold, Cora unashamedly packed away her meal in a matter of minutes and washed it down with a glass of blue milk.

((I think Sol will have to mention the temple as Cora didn't really see it. I'm sure you were already planning on that though... ^^;))
