I can't see anyone making a fuss about an unused and abandoned account, but I personally still can't see a clear way to go with this.

Why not make an announcement with a poll about this? That way you get a lot more input from everyone on the site. I think a clear rule should be made. Accounts created that have not logged in since with NO posts. No exceptions. No "accounts that have one post". No posts, period. Just as an example, so it's clear.

Either way, we're more or less discussing the possible suggestion, so I feel we're out of place in the Information Desk. Ought to have the discussion moved elsewhere xD

Wow, I would love to change my username to just Ashlyn. I can't even view the profile for the person that has it. But I would love that name lol. Even though it is probably not possible to do.. >.<

I'm pretty much on the side that says no unless the account is banned then there is no way the user can come back. I can see some issues arising from switching names to used names even if the account appears dead.
