Once Ryan was finished, he sat back for a moment, thinking. He knew Xander should really be inside on a proper bed, but he also knew that Calypso wasn't about to let her rider go for a while. After a moment, he got up, taking the box with him, and came back a few minutes later with a few blankets and a pillow. It was the best he'd be able to do for her at the moment. Once she woke up and he could get some food into her, then he'd see about having her talk Calypso into letting her actually go inside.
Faith opened her mouth to argue, but Corey was already gone. She went a wry look in his direction and sat down at the table to wait for him. |
Xander blinked when she saw the pillow and blankets. Calypso nudged her gently, getting her rider to lay dow against her side. Xander yawned briefly and followed Calypso's orders, too tired to protest properly.
Corey came back a short while later, as promised, with a tray of food and two drinks. He set it all down carefully. "There. Eat whatever you'd like." |
Satisfied that Xander was resting, Ryan looked up at Calypso.
"Have Yue let me know when Xander wakes up?" he requested. Since he couldn't here Calypso directly, that was the next best thing. Faith was too hungry to argue with Corey when he came back with the food. It looked really good, and she hadn't eaten in a while. "Thanks," she said as she took some off the tray, along with one of the drinks. |
Calyspo nodded, just a dip of her head, before she curled around Xander again, making sure she stayed warm and comfortable.
Corey grinned, sitting next to her to eat a snack himself. Rescuing people was hard work, after all. So he felt free to get a quick snack. |
Ryan backed off again, giving the pair space. He would check on them in a little while to make sure Xander was still okay.
Faith worked her way through the food she took from the tray. She hadn't realized how hungry she was. It was one of those things she just didn't notice until the drama was all overwith. "I think we're going to need to tell the weyrleader what happened," she said after a few minutes. |
"Yeah, we are," Corey said quietly. "I think Xander may have been injured, too. I saw Ryan going outside with a med kit." He frowned. This was not going to be a fun conversation to have.

"Yeah, this isn't going to be fun," Faith said. She sighed. "I still don't understand where things went wrong. It's like they already knew we were riders and just had to find us."

Corey shook his head. "I don't know. I can't explain it, either." He sighed and put his fork down. "Guess we should go tell them soon so that they're prepared."

Faith sighed as well and nodded. She stood up.
"Best to tell them now," she agreed. "Instead of them finding out later some other way." |
Corey nodded and got up, leading the way to the weyrleaders.
One of them looked over and raised an eyebrow. "Something wrong?" |
Faith hesitated for a moment before nodding.
"Yeah," she said. She took a moment to gather her thoughts before explaining what happened while she and Xander were in the city. |
The weyrleaders exchanged looks and frowned. "And you're sure you didn't tell anyone anything?" the man asked.
"Didn't happen to mention you'd been out here? Didn't say anything about your dragons?" The weyrwoman pressed. |
"We didn't say anything to anyone," Faith replied. "We barely said anything to each other until after we found breakfast. We even walked the last mile or so to the city, so nobody would see Lapis." They had taken every precaution they could think of.

"And they didn't ask you anything once they had you there? Nothing about where the weyr is?"

Faith shook her head.
"No," she said. "They didn't ask anything like that... They just said that dragonriders weren't allowed in the city anymore." She paused, thinking back. "They said it was some sort of experiment, but they didn't say anything else besides that." |
[color=blue]The weyrleader nodded, still looking troubled. "Alright. thank you for letting us know."
Corey glanced at her before he backed off, heading back over to the dragon weyrs. |
Faith backed off as well and followed Corey back towards the eyries.
"I should probably go back to Lapis for a bit," she said to him after a moment. "I think she's been patient long enough." |
Corey chuckled. "Yeah, I figured. I'll go give Vyren a good bath or something, maybe take him fishing." He shook his head. "I'll see you later."

Faith nodded.
"Yeah, I need to look Lapis over and make sure she doesn't have any rough spots or anything." She waved. "I'll see you later, then." Turning, she went in the direction of Lapis' eyrie. |
Corey nodded to her and went to go check on Vyren and give him a bath. He noticed Calypso off to the side, still eyeing most of the other riders warily, curled protectively around Xander. He shook his head and continued on.

Faith! Lapis reached out and picked up her rider as soon as Faith got to the eyrie. Faith let her, submitting to the snuggling. After a few moments, Lapis loosened her grip enough so that Faith could wriggle free. Once she was free, Faith started to climb up the dragon's back, checking for rough spots. Lapis knew what her rider was doing, and sat still so Faith could work.

Corey and Vyren spent almost two hours at the lake, enjoying themselves and playing around while getting clean. By the time they got back, Xander was up and moving again, though still groggy.
"How are you feeling?" Xander looked over at him. "Alright. Hurts a bit." She shrugged. |
Ryan had heard that Xander was awake again and was making his way down to her with a couple of sandwiches.
"At least you don't seem almost delirious anymore, that's good," he said, catching the tail end of the exchange. He held up one of the sandwiches like an offering. "Hungry?" |
"You're a saint." Xander held out her hand for the food, looking ravenous. She could smell someone starting to cook dinner and she wanted food.
Corey laughed. "You better feed her before she starts to eat you." |
Ryan laughed lightly and handed her the sandwich.
"I knew you would want something when you woke up," he said. "You're looking much better than you were earlier." |
