Natalie did know the waltz, her mother had taught her, and unlike Kyle she would gladly do it. "We can dance, if you want to.." She said before looking over and seeing Draco. "Your father is here, he's not gonna kill me or anything, right?" She whispered to Caleb nervously. She was a bit frightened by the Malfoys, afterall.
Erin chuckled, "Well, we can sit this one out if you truly want to." Kyle shrugged, he didn't mind doing it if she really wanted to do it, "It's your choice." |
Caleb shook his head "No, its not father you'd have to worry about, that would be grandfather but even then I wouldn't let them come near you" Caleb said a bit protective towards her.
"No, let's dance. It'd be odd to see a Malfoy not dance especially when my father is here" Ana replied hoping that he would lead. They might've been simple steps but dancing wasn't always her strong point. "I would actually like to dance, besides this is the last quiet song of the evening before they play the loud music" Kirsten replied keeping him on the dance floor. It can't be that bad to dance for a little bit before the good music to come on. The waltz music came on, the beggining played out, and then everyone who knew how to dance, was dancing along. |
Natalie nodded, before her eyes widened as she saw her mother enter. She knew Kyle must have said something, or Kyle's parents may have some how gotten a hold of her. Natalie sighed nervously, afraid of what her mother would say. And the idea of Hermoine and Draco in the same room just frightened the young wizard. Natalie tried not to think about it as she danced with Caleb. She figured the two could settle it between their parents after the dance.
Erin nodded as he led the dance. It came easy to him, for he was taught from his mother. Kyle nodded as he danced with Kirsten. He tried his best not to mess up any of the steps, and he thought he did pretty well. |
"hey, hey. No one else in this room matters, just you and me" Caleb spoke getting her attention and smiling a simple warm smile at her as he led her through the waltz.
Ana sighed seeing the smartest witch in hogwarts of her time back at the school but ignored it and kept dancing, her smile returned as she was led around. Kirsten might've known what moves to do but she was glad Kyle knew how to waltz as well. Music playing, there were only four pairs/couples out on the dance floor. Ana and Erin, Kyle and Kirsten, Natalie and Caleb, and of course, Robert along with his date Susie Sutherlands. |
Natalie nodded and smiled lightly back at him. He was right, after all, and she knew it.
Erin smiled as he danced with Ana. He was glad that there were only four couples dancing, it gave them room, and he could see his parents watching them in a corner. (To short, I'm sorry :( )) |
The waltzing lasted for a little while and soon the music switched off as Kirsten and Ana both led their escorts off the floor to the side. They stood near eachother as the headmistress had said that the new band will be playing live. It was Evanessence and BloodVane a new rock metal band. (no idea what to write, the second one I'm sure I made up ^_^!)
The music started to play wildly and loudly with Bloodvane's band. "Hang on boys, we have to change" Ana replied taking a step back as Kirsten did and just pulled off the farbic so that it showed both girls with dress halfway above the knees. Kirsten's was a bit longer than Ana's. But that was just like them. Ana's was a bit flowy like and Kirsten's was loose but hugged her legs showing them off. Her father would complain later about this but she didn't care...much. "Well what ya think?" they both asked in unision. |
Kyle and Erin both looked at each other before looking back to their dates, "Nice!" they both said at the same time as well.
Natalie sighed as the fast music came on. She wasn't familiar with either of the bands, and was a bit stressed out about her parents. Her mother usually supported Natalie's actions, but she knew tonight her mother would be against her for once. |
The girls smiled pulling their dates into the dance and said "Lets party!" together, you'd almost think they were actually sisters. The music was rocking as they moved their bodies to the beat no matter how long or loud the music was or lasted they kept up with it pretty well. Kirsten was better at dancing like this than Ana was but then again she had been to some raves before in her past thanks to her mother.
Caleb looked at Natalie and leaned over whispering "Do you want to stay and dance or sneak out and talk?" Caleb's reputation of course would've said differently for what he would want and it would show he would never change. But no one knew exactly what Caleb had in mind either. |
Kyle and Erin nodded, before they began dancing to the beat. Erin was more of a formal dancer, so this was a bit strange for him, but he did enjoy it. Kyle was use to this kind of music, and preferred much more than he did with the formal dancing.
Natalie thought about Caleb's question. "Let's sneak out and talk, just for a little while anyways...." She told him. She wasn't to fond of sneaking out, but decided that she would go with it just this once. She'd do anything to get out of the room where it held her mother. |
Caleb took her hand and snuck her past the other adults including her mother. They had walked down a bit of the hallway to where they could go alone. (Sorry was short post)

Natalie sighed as she leaned against the wall once they had snuck past everyone. She had felt like she was ruining Calebs night. "I'm sorry.....I'll leave soon, and I know there are other girls that would be more than willing too dance with you tonight......" She said with another sigh.

"Natalie, if I wanted to dance with other girls, I wouldn't have asked you out to the dance or helped you sneak away, now would I?" Caleb spoke, he was going to say more but stayed quiet to let her have her say. |
"Yes, you would. I mean, Kyle must have bribed you or something....." She said.

(Nah its kewl, I totally understand. I ignored the others for the moment and thought we'd focus on Natalie and Caleb more)
"No actually he didn't. He just helped me decide if I was going to ask you or not." Caleb spoke got quiet and added "If it wasn't for him, I would have gone by myself" |
Natalie sighed, "But why would you do that? You're like a popstar to this school, despite who your parents are. Girls are all over you, and yet you'd still go by yourself?"

"Just because there are a lot of girls out there that like me, doesn't mean I'm going to just pick one out of the bunch and go with them. I only like to go with people who..." he trailed off wasn't sure what he was going to say.

"Who, what? Who you feel pity for? Is that the only reason you asked me out with you?" She snapped at him.

Natalie shook her hand before standing up from her leaning position. "I can't believe I didn't see this before. I mean what other reason would you ask me to the dance for?" She said, swallowing hard to hold back her tears. "I'm sorry to waist your time Caleb." She said before walking away.

Caleb tried to go after her to stop her but for some reason she just wouldn't be stopped. Sighing he just decided to go back to his room and get changed to go to bed. His friends saw him but they stayed away with the blank expression he had, he wanted to tell her the truth, but, it wasn't that easy to and with what he said, it probably came out wrong to her.

A week had passed, everyone was in classes, nothing out of the ordinary happened. Students were being themselves, Caleb ignored everyone all week. Kirsten kept asking Ana what was wrong with him but she didn't know even if she did ask him. Caleb would say hi to his friends, sometimes wave but mostly kept himself in his own thoughts. Everyone was curious to what was going on and if it involved the Weasly he went ot the dance with. Kirsten had went back to her usual studies of potions and her classes. Though potions she never had to study for since she knew most of it. Everyone pretty much talked about the dance for a couple days that it got out of their systems. |
Natalie, unlike Caleb, had been talking and acting normal for the week. She didn't want anyone questioning her, and she figured if she got Caleb out of her system she would forget about any feelings she once had for him, even though she knew she still liked him.

Once they were in the Slytherin Common rooms, Ana looked at her brother bringing him over to an area to talk. "Whats been up with you Caleb? Ever since you left the dance early with that Weasly girl" Ana began making it sound like the name Weasly was disgusting. Before she could get her sentence out, Caleb interupted saying "That Weasly girl has a name" Ana rolled her eyes "Like I give a care about a Weasly" she crossed her arms over her chest. "Well I do" Caleb spoke and caught himself but it was too late, Ana had caught what he meant. "Oh, little brother is finally-" Ana began to tease him but Caleb interupted "Shut up Ana Rose!" Caleb had yelled out and went straight off to his room.
Ana was surprised, sure her brother and her fought but he never used her middle name like their father had whenever she was in trouble. Kirsten walked over to Ana, "You okay?" Kirsten asked waving her hand in front of Ana's face but got no repsonse. "Okay come on, we have to talk and all those around me listening better have life and move out of the way" Kirsten spoke glaring at those listening around them and the others backed off as Kirsten took Ana to their shared rooms. |
Natalie sighed as she sat on her bed. She knew she needed to fix things with Caleb, but why should she? She groaned annoyed, before laying back on her bed. She needed to talk to someone, any one really. She then remembered she hadn't talked to her mother since, and she was probably dieing of anticipation. She had sent Natalie a few letters, but Natalie had just ignored each of them. She sat up, pulling out a pen and paper:
Dear Mum, I'm sorry I've been ignoring your letters. I just haven't been in the mood to talk, but you don't need to worry. I'm alright. Classes have been going great, although, I'm afraid that I'm coming off as a know-it-all. Oh well. How's Dad been? Harry told me he got himself in a bit of an accident. Hope he is alright. Oh, and for the dance, you don't have to worry about me and Caleb. Him and I are done. Hope to hear from you soon. Love, Natalie She wrote, before putting it in an envelope, and giving it to her owl to send to her mother. |
