Gabriella's eyes popped open at the sound of her mother's cheerful shout. "Gabbi! Come dear! An owl is here!" Her brother and sister were still half asleep, but really excited, her father sat reading the Daily Prophet, he was a farmer, along with all the other men in the Lovegood family valley. Her mother, however, was different from the rest of them, she had brown hair, not dark, just light brown hair, she married into the Lovegood family. But the white hair gene was still to strong for the rest.

Her mother held an envelope. "It's addressed to you, It's from Hogwarts," she glowed, "I hope your trunk is packed? You will be leaving with Thomas and Alicia this evening to meet the train."

Gabriella smiled, an honest smile, she was proud to have gotten in. However, her trunk was not completely packed. She wanted to open the envelope first though, wanted to be sure she got in. Her mother handed her the envelope and she gently pulled the wax stamp off and pulled out the parchment. She began to read it aloud, "We are happy to invite you to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a list is inclosed of things you will need." She stopped there, and got the listed out of the envelope. She would take it upstairs with her to check her stuff. She was sure if she was missing anything, they would find it somewhere in her father's over collecting abilities.

She checked off everything, except she didn't have a pet to take. She had Thomas's hand me down books that had went through his and Alicia's first year. Alicia was now a year six ad Thomas was a year three.

"Mom, Dad, Can I take a bronze or silver piece with me to get a pet, a cat or an owl or something?" She asked, as her parents helped her get her trunk together.

"Nonsense," her father demanded, "Your cousin's cat just had kittens a few weeks ago, you shall take one of them, if you wish." He said as he was walking out of the room.

Her mother pressed a huge smile across her half wrinkled face, "They only have the ginger one left, but you will enjoy her company, She's quiet a character."

As the day went on, awaiting the time for the train to arrive, Gabriella went and got her kitten, she hadn't decided on a name yet.

Finally the time came when it was time to go to train station. She pulled her trunk, it had wheels, across the dirt road with her siblings, waving goodbye to hear parents for the first time.

Aryana Black awoke to a quiet house. Shuffling out of bed Aryana pulled on a dressing robe and hopped downstairs. Sitting on the coffee table was a crisp white evelope. Breaking the seal of the envelope Aryana was pleased to discover her Hogwarts Acceptance letter. She knew she was going to get in, it was inevitable, she came from a powerful family. Bounding back upstairs Aryana burst into her cousin Andromeda's room. "Dromeda! Get up, we have to go shopping for my Hogwarts list." Back in her room Aryana got dressed, throwing in her coin purse and sunglasses Aryanna shouldered her bag and went downstairs to wait for her cousin.

Once Andromeda came downstairs she held up a bag of powder and said, "Get in the fireplace." Standing in the family fireplace Aryana took a handfull of powder and shouted "Diagon Alley!" A warm sensation swept over Aryana as she traveled through the grate system. Once Aryana arrived in her respective grate she stood up and dusted herself off. After a few minutes Aryana figured that her cousin was busy and decided to explore on her own. Aryana wandered around many different shops buying what she needed and some things she didn't. Finally the only thing Aryana had left to do was to go home and pack. Dragging her feet into a shop Aryana looked around and spotted a fireplace. It was small and cramped so that Aryana had to crouch on her hands and knees. She had sent all of her stuff ahead of her and hoped she didn't land on it when she arrived home. Shouting her address Aryana braced herself for the trip as she threw down the floo powder.

Letting out an un-lady-like grunt Aryana pulled her brand new hat out from under her as she stood. All her other stuff was still in the fireplace and now covered in ashes. Dragging her stuff out of the fireplace Aryana shook her bags out trying to rid them of the dust and ash. After her stuff was clean Aryana pulled out her wand and said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" A satisfied smirk crossed Aryana's face as her bags began to levitate. Walking up to her bedroom Aryana heard her owl, Athena, rapping irritatedly at her window. Dropping her bags on the floor and her wand on the bed Aryana rushed to the window to let her companion in the room.

After a difficult half hour of coercing Athena into her cage and packing her things Aryana was finally ready to leave for Hogwarts. Andromeda poked her head in the room and said, "Come on we're going to be late if you don't hurry up!" Grabbing her things Aryana followed her fourth year cousin to the car. Once they got to the train station Aryana had some difficulty working up the courage to run through the platform but once she did it she was amazed at what she saw. There were witches and wizards everywhere. A large crimson train pulled into the station and Aryana rushed aboard to claim a cabin.

thedarkraven 06-25-2011 01:04 AM

Thomas smiled at Gabriella, and took a small coin bag out of his pocket. "Do you know what this is?" Gabbi shook her head, and Thomas went on telling her. "It's five gold coins. Mom and Dad worked hard, long hours all summer for this. When our train gets to Diagon Alley, We are going to have a thirty minute break. We are going to get yourself a wand."

Gabriella grinned. So that's what she forgot. A wand! It wasn't on the list, because everyone knew if you were a witch or wizard without a wand, you might as well be a fish without gills. Of course, most of the kids that was going to be in her grade had gotten their wands long before they turned eleven.

The arrived to the first train station, once aboard it Gabriella got her cat out. "Do you guys have any names? I can't decide."

"Well," Alicia spoke, "What about Stardust? I know she isn't a yellow cat, but it sounds good."

"Are you bloody insane?" Thomas wasn't really asking her, he thought she was anyway, "Ember should be the cats name. She is a ginger color."

Gabriella liked both of their suggestions. She didn't reply to either though. Only sat thinking about it the rest of the ride and blocking out the bickering of her brother and sister. The train whistle had finally sounded, and the breaks squeaked.

"Remember, we have thirty minutes, And stay close, the streets are busy." Alicia said, grabbing Gabbi's hand while taking the gold from her brother. He was going to stay behind and load the trunks onto the Hogwarts train.

Alicia was right, the street really was busy. They had to squeeze their way through people's frantic running and bustling. Alicia eyed the shop, and made a sharp dart for it. They pushed through the crowd and finally made it to the door of the wand shop. Gabriella twisted the knob, and let the door go, it creaked as it opened and they stepped in.

"Hello, My dear Alicia Lovegood, Welcome back!" and old man said from behind the counter, "And who is this beautiful young lady you have with you?"

"This is my sister, Gabriella, sir. She's come to get her first wand." Alicia said, with a large smile.

Now, Gabbi knew a bit about wands, she knew that the wand had to choice you, and you'd know if it chose you.

The old man gave a little giggle after concentrating on her for a minute or three. He walked back and fiddled his fingers over many little boxes. All rather dusty. He came back with a box, opened it and sat it down in front of Gabriella, "Elm wood, Unicorn tail hair as a core, eleven inches, fine wand. Go one, test it out."

Gabriella hesitated, and then picked it up. Nothing happened... at first.

The whole place got a tad bit brighter, and Gabbi got a tingle inside her body. Then everything went darker again, she waved the wand toward the wind, and the blinds shot up.

"Yep, that one will be yours. And since you are so pretty," then man winked at her sister, "I'll give it to you for three gold coins." Alicia sat the bag of coins on the table, untied it, and got three out. She handed it to the man and smiled, said thank you, and walked out of the shop with her sister. "We have ten minutes until the train leaves, We have to run, follow me!"

Alicia took off until the crowd, holding Gabbi's hand and ran halfway back to the train station, she turned down an ally and ran faster. Amazing, they was there. It wasn't that close was it? Gabbi didn't think so. "First years have to sit in the first and second carts." She told Gabriella. "Thomas will be waiting at your door with your trunk, He has gotten it up and put it in an empty cabin for you."

Gabriella smiled and walked onto the first cart. She looked into every cabin to see if Thomas had put her trunk there, but it wasn't on the first. She loaded onto the second, and began looking there, worried slightly that she had misunderstood, but half way down the second cart was her brother. He was talking to a boy with a rather odd kind of hair. It was slicked back, black, and parted in the middle. "Hello Gabriella. This here is Tom Riddle. Just met him, He offered to share cabin with you. Run along now, your trunk is here." Thomas slid open the cabin door next to him, and pointed. Gabriella took a seat inside, followed by the Tom Riddle boy.

nimh 06-25-2011 05:24 AM

Aryana looked around the train and tried to decide where to sit. The first car would probably be crowded with over-excited-do-gooder-first-years. So Aryana chose to seat herself in the second car. Aryana spotted a boy with oily black hair and a scowl on his face. Auntie Walburga and Uncle Orion would be please with her choice in cabin-mate. Hauling her stuff into the cabin Aryana went in search of the trolly, she was absolutely craving Peppermint Toads, Fizzing Whizbees, and Jelly Slugs. When she finally founf the trolly Aryana was dissapointed to find out that they only sold Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Cauldron Cakes, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Pumpkin Juice, and Licorice Wands. Grabbing a licorice wand and two Pumpkin Pasties Aryana made her way back to the cabin only to find that she had gained another cabin-mate.

Dropping into her seat and nibbling on her licorice wand Aryana introduced herself, "Bonjour, mon nom est Aryana Black." With a giggle Aryana translated from her family's prefered language to that which was much easier to remember. "Ello, I'm Aryana Black. Still working on learning the french, it's difficult. Who're you?"

Aryana looked the girl up and down, appraising her. She had terribly pale hair and a penchant for the color pink. An exact opposite of Aryana. Always one for extremes Aryana decided she liked this strange new girl and stuck her hand out in offering. "I'm a First Year. How about you?"

thedarkraven 06-26-2011 03:50 AM

Gabbi, not wanting to be rude, immediately shook her hand, "I'm a first year as well. Gabriella Lovegood, but you can call me Gabbi, if you wish..." Gabbi wasn't one for following her first impression instincts and always kept the open mind, that's the Lovegood optimism kicking in. "Oh, didn't you eat lunch before getting on the train? From what my brother and sister have told m, they feed us right after sorting us into our houses. I wouldn't spoil your appetite."

Gabriella's attention drifted over to the boy, he gazed out of the window, and, as if he knew she was going to be looking, he slowly moved his focus back over to her. "I want some of that you've got there," he began moving his view over to Aryana. Without even waiting for permission, he grabbed a random sweet from her lap, and popped it in his mouth, waited a minute, and then swallowed. It rather surprised Gabbi that he didn't even bother to introduce himself.

"Dumbledore came to me himself and begged me to come here," He bragged, but Gabbi sensed a bit of Exaggeration. Of all she's been told about Dumbledore that certainly did not sound like him.

"Well," Gabriella smiled, "Aren't you a lucky one." She paused.... An awkward, silent moment fell over their cabin. Gabbi tried to ease the tension, "I have a brother here, his name is Thomas, You've met him Tom, He's in Gryffindor. My sister, Alicia, is in Hufflepuff. My parents don't know which of the for houses I will be placed in. They have their hopes set on Ravenclaw though, they think I can be that smart." Gabbi blushed, "Do you having siblings here?"

Tom said coldly, "I have no siblings at all."

Then the cabin grew silent, they both awaited Aryana's answer anxiously.

nimh 06-26-2011 05:52 AM

Aryana grinned and smiled as the strange boy stole one of her Pumpkin Pasties.
Laughing Aryana stated, "My family would like you. I'm from the black family, a new generation gets accepted to Hogwarts every year, it's practically tradition."

Holding out her extra Pumkin Pastie, Aryana offered it to Gabbi, "Are you sure you don't want it?" Aryana listened as Gabbi told about her siblings, then frowned as the strange boy killed the happy mood. There was an awkward sinlence in their cabin before Aryana responded, "I have several older cousins. Regulus, Bellatrix and Narcissa are in Slytherin. Sirius and Andromeda are in Gryffindor. We have a bit of a family feud going on and I'm waiting to see which house I get sorted into before I decide which half of the family I join."

Casting a glance at the strange boy in the corner Aryana demanded an introduction, "Who are you?" Great now Aryana sounded like the caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland. . .Glaring at the boy when he didn't answer Aryana repeated her question. Finally the boy sneered at her and said, "Tom Riddle. Named after my filthy, moodblood father. Happy now?" Aryana felt horribble now, " Sorry, I just wanted to know. We introduced ourselves and you said nothing. It was quite rude actually."

thedarkraven 06-27-2011 12:49 AM

Tom Riddle snorted at Aryana, Gabbi found this quite... repulsive about him. What did Thomas see in him? Thomas seemed overwhelmingly happy to meet him. Odd of him, as well. Gabbi decided it was time for another subject change. "We should be arriving at Hogwarts soon. Thomas told me that on the first stop, we get off, and head to the boats so we can enter a hall where a professor will meet us, and they circle around the lake and go straight to the Dining Hall." Gabbi was surprised with herself, she sounded like a know-it-all. At least she hadn't read all this in a book.

Gabbi looked out the window, when did it get dark? she thought to herself. She was rather excited about this, going to Hogwarts and all, but she seemed a little worried. The train's breaks squealed, and after a few minutes the train came to a halt. "My trunk is a little Heavy," She glanced at Tom, he was boy, he could get it down? "Tom, will you help me?"

Tom stood up into the seat, and grabbed it, he tried to let it fall gently into Gabbi's arms, but it was a little heavy and came down with a bit more force then intended. Gabbi's face got red and she dropped it on the floor, Tom got down then bent to pick it up, "No no! It's got wheels, I can get it from here, Thanks." She gave him a great grin.

Gabbi picked up her trunk onto its wheels and walked out of the cabin, followed by Tom. Tom and she stepped onto the pavement, and waited on Aryana to follow. These was the only two friends she had so far, she didn't want to leave one behind.

Tom grew impatient. "Can't we just go without her?" He begged.

Gabbi gave him a mean look. well, mean for her taste. It was probably a sweet look for Tom's taste. "No! You can go by yourself if you wish. I'm waiting on Aryana." She tried to make her voice firm and strong, But it came out sweet and soft. Tom shook his head and walked away. Boys are s stubborn, I shall not tell Aryana why he isn't here when she gets off, though I'm sure she will know. Gabriella put on a smile as she saw Aryana unloading the train.

nimh 06-27-2011 01:08 AM

Aryana smirked as Tom snorted at her. Rude Little Pratt . . . Aryana thought as she got her trunk down and exited the train. When Aryana made it to the pavement she was pleased to see that Gabbi was waiting for her and Tom was storming off in a huff. Standing next to Gabbi Aryana put a hand on her shoulder, "Pay him no mind. He's a terribbly ill mannered child. We shall be fine all our own." With a smile Aryana grabbed Gabbi's hand and raced for the boats. Aryana hopped into the first boat she saw only to find that it was already occupied. The boy in the boat had longish light brown hair. Sweeping his hair out of his face the boy revealed the most gorgeous light green eyes. Sticking his hand out the boy introduced himself, "Fáilte go dtí an bád. Tá mé Shane O'Morrgan." When nobody responded the boy tried again,"Willkommen auf dem Boot. Ich bin Shane O'Morrgan." Aryana looked at the boy confusedly, " All I caught was Welcome and Shane O'Morrgan . . . do you speak english?" The boy looked at Aryana dissapointedly and huffed, "Welcome to the boat. And yeah, my name is Shane Torry O'Morrgan. You are?" Aryana smiled and shook the boys hand, "Aryana Elaine Black. First year. This is my friend Gabbi."

thedarkraven 06-27-2011 08:05 PM

Gabbi smiled at the boy, and took his hand. She was going to speak, but the boat jerked forward. Gabbi was surprised by the jerk, her body jolted backwards a little and she peered behind her. Two older boys, looked like six years, where paddling the boats. The boat ride was silent. Gabbi noticed how dark the water was. It was black.

Something's reflection appeared in the lake. It was Hogwarts. Gabriella's eyes drifted up, and the castle was magnificent. It had a cold look to it, but it made her feel warm. She smiled and looked over, to see if Aryana was looking at the castle they was approaching by boat on the black mirror-like water.

Gabbi's eyes fell back to water. It was haunting. A pale, beautiful glared back at her. It wasn't Gabbi's face though. She was looking into the eyes of a mermaid. When she fully realized it, it darted back down, it's tail almost broke the surface. "Aryana! I just saw a mermaid!" she whispered in Aryana's ear.

One of the boys that was paddling the boat spoke up, "I'm sorry, but I seemed to have over heard you. I don't think you saw a mermaid. Nothing lives in these waters." He said, knowingly. But Gabbi knew what she saw.

The boats approached a overhang from the castle over them and docked the boats. Gabbi first dragged her trunked out of the bot, then reached to give Aryana a hand with hers. She grabbed the handle, while Aryana pushed and it came out as well, Aryana climbed out behind it.

"Everyone, attention, My name is Professor Lingold, I will show you to the Dining Hall where you will be sorted into your houses immediately. Shortly after that, you will be served your dinner," The tall woman informed them of everything they were needed to do. "Just leave your trunks here, and follow me to the Dining Hall."

The woman turned and stalked up the stairs with a sort of prideful walk. Gabbi followed and whispered to Aryana, "I'm so excited to see what house I get into, I hope we get into the same one... Oh my. There's Tom, At the back of the line all alone. Should we go back there with him?"

The woman spoke again, "Now, We expect you to be on your best behavior." She opened the huge double wooden doors and entered the Dining Hall. There was four fairly long tables. She led them down the center of them, two to each side, and everyone awed at the ceiling. A chair sat on the uplifting of the floor in front of them. With a old hat that seemed to have a wrinkled face in it.

It was time. They was going to be sorted now.

----------

Here is the thinking cap song from the first book.

Quote:

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!

Aryana followed Gabbi off the boat an through the castle. This would be interesting. When they got to the Great Hall, Aryana was amazed at the sheer size of everything. There were four long, large tables each in different colors. At the front of the room was a stool and an ugly, wrinkled, old hat. Then the hat began to talk. Eeewww, Aryana tought, I don't want that on my head. Then Proffessor Lingold began to call up the students. There were a variety of people. Each one sat on the stool and put the nasty hat on their heads. Each one was sorted into a house. Aryana was nervous, she didn't know what was going to happen. She expected Slytherin because it was in her blood. I that happened though she would be in the same house as her not-so-nice cousins. Maybe she'd get lucky and be placed in Ravenclaw with Gabbi. Aryana really hoped so.

"Aryana Elanie Black! Please come and be sorted!" Proffessor Lingolds shrill voice filled the room and Aryana suddenly felt sick to her stomach. Looking out at the room Aryana noticed all of her cousins staring at her intently, waiting to see where she would stand. Regulus, Bellatrix and Narcissa stared at her intently from a corner in the back of the room next to the Slytherin table. Sirius and Andromeda simply watched with curiosity from the Gryffindor table. Nervous and frightened Aryana stepped up to the stool, waving solemnly at Gabbi. Aryana cringed as the hat touched her head and felt a vauge sucking sensation as it read her mind and gauged her intentions.

Not wanting to have to pick a side of the family feud Aryana did her best to keep her mind blank. Then her thoughts slipped to Gabbi, so far her only friend. It would be cool if we could be in the same house she thought, or at least in a house similar to hers. . . Then the hat on her head shouted something lound. Not paying attention Aryana didn't know where to go. Looking at Proffessor Lingold she whispered, "What did it say?" The Proffesor gave her a concerned look and whispered back, "You're in Gryffindor dear, Just go join the Red and Gold table." Aryana did another scan of the room and noted that Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Regulus were frowning. When they saw her looking they turned their backs and shunned her. Looking back at the Gryffindor table Sirius and Andromeda were beaming. Standing Aryana made her way over to her cousins. It was decided. Aryana would be blasted from the family tapesty hanging in Numer 12 Grimauld Place. She was a Gryffindor and all true Black's ended up in Slytherin. Sitting down next to her cousins Aryana settled in to wait and see where Gabbi would end up.

thedarkraven 06-27-2011 11:28 PM

"Tom Riddle." Professor Longold said, well slightly yelled. Gabbi looked confused, up until now everything was in alphabetical order. Lovegood comes before Riddle... Doesn't it? Gabbi glanced back at Aryana in a confused way. She shrugged her shoulders and looked back at the boy and the hat.

The boy didn't even sit in the chair before the hat said Slytherin. Tom simply turned around and walked to the table. No one cheered, no one knew him.

"Gabriella Lovegood." Her name was read off the list. Gabbi took a deep breath and walked up to the stool. She gave Professor Lingold a warm welcome smile. She got one in return. She had a seat and Lingold gently plopped the hat atop her head.

Gabbi was thinking about not wanting to be in Slytherin because she didn't want to have to put up with Tom for seven years alone in the Slytherin Lounge without Aryana.

Aryana... I wonder who I'll meet if I don't get in Gryffindor with her? I suppose if I'm in Hufflepuff I could hang around Alicia until I found my own friends. And Ravenclaw would make Mum and Dad happy. I'd be happiest with Gryffindor though... Hey... where did Tom go?

A booming voice startled Gabbi. "GRYFFINDOR!!" she heard. Thomas jumped out of his seat and cheered extremely loudly. She smiled. And let go of the rather large breath she had inhaled. She took the hat off, and Lingold rushed over like Gabbi wasn't supposed to take it off herself. Gabbi handed it to her and walked over to the Red and Golden table.

She asked Aryana and her friends... well, cousins, if she could have a seat there. A boy nodded and she sat next to Aryana. "I'm so glad we go into the same house." She whispered and then turned to finish watching the sorting.

When the sorting was over, Dumbledore stood and asked for everyone's attention. "I m sure I don't have to remind you of the rules here at Hogwarts, but for those who have just been sorted. As of right now, all we ask is that you do not go into the Dark Forest. It is a very dangerous place. If you need any assitance with anything on the campus grounds, my dear friend Rubeus Hagrid will be there for you. Oh yes, Hagrid, I would like to wish you a happy thirty-ninth birthday. This toast is to a new year," He raised his glass, "Let us eat!" When he said that, as if out of the air, food materialized.

nimh 06-28-2011 12:33 AM

Aryana waited patiently as Proffessor Lingold sorted through all of the students. Then the Proffessor called up Tom Riddle. Aryana was confused. Everything had been alphabetical, and Gabbi hadn't been sorted yet. Lovegood ought to have come before Riddle. Not wanting to speak out against the error Aryana simply watched eith rapt attention. Tom sat on the stool and the hat was naught but a centimeter away from his head when it shouted, "Slytherin!" Tom stood and walked over to the table. Aryana watched as her cousins approached him and made conversation, that could not possibly end well for her. Suddenly fearfull Aryana turned back to the sorting. Aryana stood and waved as the Proffessor called out Gabbi's name. Gabbi was up there for a little while and then the hat shouted, "Gryffindor!"

Aryana jumped up and shouted, "Yay! Come over here!" Gabbi came and asked Sirius if she could sit with them. Aryana's cousin nodded and Gabbi sat. "I'm so glad we got into the same house," Aryana whispered. "I'd be lonely with just Sirius and Dromeda, they're upperclassmen so we have different schedules." Sitting back Aryana listened as she was cautioned against the Dark Forest and resolved to make a point out of picking wild flowers some time. Sirius would kill her if he found out, but he didn't need to know. Aryana clapped as the Grounds Keepers thirty ninth birthday was announced, then gasped in shock as food magically appirated on the table.

The food was delicious, there were all kinds of strange new things. There were Cornish Pasties, Sprouts, Casserole, Tripe, Carrots, Jacket Potatoes, and Fried Tomatoes. Being a vegetarian these were the only things Aryana could really eat. There was more food of course, but these were the only sensible choices. Turning to Gabbi, Aryana introduced her cousins, "The tall scruffy man behind me is my cousin Sirius. He's a Fifth year. The devastatingly gorgeous girl behind him is my cousin Andromeda. Dromeda for short. She's a Sixth year." Sirius looked at Aryana with a weird face, "Scruffy . . . ?" Andromeda laughed, "Well it wouldn't kill you to cut your hair."
Smiling at her cousins bickering Aryana turned back to Gabbi, "Is any of your family in Gryffindor?"

thedarkraven 06-28-2011 01:02 AM

Gabbi smiled, "Hello, I'm Gabriella. But you can call me Gabbi if you'd like." She giggled at Aryana's cousins bickering. She picked up a few peas with her fork and let them slide into her mouth. She chewed slightly, and the swallowed. She took a sup of her drink, pumpkin juice, before she answered.

"Yes. My brother Thomas. He's in this house. I will introduce you later when hes around." Gabbi cut a slice of... something, it was some sort of cake. Gabbi didn't know what it was but it looked good. She decided a little couldn't hurt. Once she finished and had engaged in conversation with her new friends another announcement was made.

"Attention please..." Dumbledore shouted lightly, "Your trunks await you in your house. You are dismissed."

Everything had become very hectic. Gabbi stuck close to Aryana whose cousins was going to show them the way to the House Lounge. Once there, they told them to password, but Gabbi didn't understand what they had said the password was. Once inside, Gabbi's trunk was easy to find, Her new, unnamed kitten was sitting on the top of it.

She picked up her kitten, "Oh you... I still have nothing." She frowned. "Your name will come to you one day. I promise."

The rest of the night went fairly well, Her schedule was on top of her trunk. Aryana and Gabbi had compared schedules. Mind blowingly, they was exactly the same. After sitting at the fire with Aryana, Sirius, and Dromeda for an hour or so talking, Gabbi thought it was late enough, and that she should go to bed. The lounge had nearly been empty.

"Uhm.. I think I might go to bed right now. Aryana, do you want to share a bunk? I'll take top or bottom, which ever you don't want." Gabbi smiled her sweet warm smile.

Once they were dismissed Aryana tooka Gabbi's hand and led her through the castle following Sirius and Dromeda. Once they got to the common room the group of four sat around the fire and talked for a bit. When Gabbi said she was ready for bed Aryana agreed, "We should get some sleep, Tomorrow's a big day." Hugging her cousins goodnight Aryana and Gabbi made their way to the dormitory. Once there Gabbi asked Aryana if she wanted to share a bunk. Smiling Aryana replied, "Well of course! Which bunk would you like? I'm not really particular." Unpacking her suitcase Aryana folded all her clothes neatly into the small trunk provided for her. An angry hoot reminded her that Athena was still in her cage and probably withering away with boredom.

Closing the trunk Aryana walked over to the average sized silver cage and opened the latch, "There you go, you can stop hooting at me now." Athena gave Aryana a stern look, well as stern as an owl could possibly be, and nipped at her fingers. "Ahh!" Aryana jumped a little and playfully swatted at her pet, "You best not do that again, or I shall lock you in the owl tower instead of letting you stay here. Understand?" Athena gave a wry look then took flight to sit on the top bunk. Standing and looking at Gabbi Aryana said, "I think that means I'm to take the top bunk, If you don't mind. This is Athena by the way." Aryana pointed up to the light brown owl now perched on the bedpost.

Aryana set about cleaning Athena's cage while warning her, "If you make a mess of this room in any way it's to the owl tower with you. Any business you must take care of you can do outside. If I get any mail you can drop it on my bed." Aryana cast an engorgement charm on Athena's cage and then climbing up on her bed, anchored it to a set of hooks in the middle of the wall. "There you are love," Aryana said patting Athena on the head and shooing her off the bedpost. After climbing back down Aryana changed into her dressing gown then asked Gabbi, "Your kitten is adorable, does she have a name?"

Gabbi frowned. "No. Thomas wants Ember for her, and Alicia says Stardust. I haven't decided on anything yet... Hey, You still have to meet Thomas. He's really friendly. If we cross him tomorrow, I'll introduce you." Gabbi smiled as she finished putting her robes and books in the cupboard in the corner of the room.

She sat her wand on the nightstand next to her pillow and looked at the kitten that was napping peacefully on her pillow. "We will decide on a name soon..." She picked the kitten up and sat it out of the way and laid on on the bed and the kitten, still asleep, snuggled up against her. Gabbi drifted off into a slumber...

Gabbi's eyes open to a room flooded with sunlight. The red curtains caught flame in the bright white light that poured from the window. Gabbi rubbed her eyes and smiled. She was still at Hogwarts. It wasn't a dream. Her kitten had already been up. It was playing with something in the corner.

Gabbi throw the blankets off of her and put her bare feet on the cold stone floor. She quickly changed into her robes before Aryana got up. Should I wake her up? She decided not too, she'd let her sleep in a little. Gabbi picked up a hair brush and ran it through her hair. She looked in a mirror and took a band and pulled her bangs back and tied it at the back of her head.

She didn't miss home, yet. But she did miss her parents. She wondered what was for breakfast, or maybe it would be like dinner was and they'd have everything imaginable. Gabbi walked over to her nightstand and put her wand in her pocket and then pulled out the drawer and took out 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' and opened it, she sat on her bed and read stories until Aryana awakened.

Aryana woke to blinding red light. It looked like the room was on fire, orange and red light covered the walls. As Aryana rubbed her eyes she realised it was just the light shining through the curtains. Sitting up Aryana pulled the blankets off of her and crawled to the edge of the bed. Poking her head over the side Aryana saw Gabbi had woken up long before her and was now sitting, and reading. Aryana shifted her nightgown and climbed down the ladder. "Good Morning," She chirped in Gabbi's direction as she walked over to the basin on the counter. Taking up a rag Aryana washed her face and hands. After dressing Aryana sat on the foot of Gabbi's bed braiding her hair, "Are you ready for class? I'm so excited I think I might burst! What's our first class after breakfast?" Standing Aryana went over to Athena's cage and poked her sleeping friend, "Wake Up you lazy bird you." When Athena was awake Aryana fed her some bread crumbs and a feild mouse she had found by the window. The mouse had died of unknown causes so Aryana didn't feel too bad about it. Turning back to Gabbi, Aryana asked, "Are you ready for breakfast?"

Aryana surprised Gabbi with her awaking, She heard the question "What's our first class?" and replied with, "Potions... I think?" It was completely from memory. She stood up, signifying that she was ready for breakfast and walked toward the door. She was feeling high spirited about class, but not as excited as Aryana was. Gabbi smiled at the unnamed cat as she left. "Maybe I can introduce you to my brother today."

Thomas always got along with everyone, and she knew that he would love Aryana. Sitting at the edge of the doorway was Gabbi's bad, It contained: parchment, a feather, ink bottles, class books, and now a wand. She headed off to breakfast with Aryana happily.

Aryana bounded happily down the stairs. This was her first official day as a Hogwarts student. A very special moment to remember. She was glad she had made friends with Gabbi. She loved her family but it was nice to have someone her own age to talk to. The fact that they had all the same classes made it even better because they could study together. Aryana was sure ahe and Gabbi were going to be great friends, maybe even best friends. Turning Aryana beamed, "I'd love to meet your brother, I'm sure he's just wonderful, being related to you and all."

When they reached the great hall Aryana scanned the table and tried to find a place to sit. Following Gabbi Aryana sat at the end of the table next to a boy who vaugely resembled Gabbi. Aryana could only assume this was her brother. Smiling she stuck out her hand, "Nice to meet you."

Me too :)

Gabbi blushed at the compliment and sat at the breakfast table, putting her food on plate.

"Yeah," Thomas said smiling through a mouthful of biscuit. He dropped the other half of a biscuit and shook Aryana's hand. He swallowed and took a drink of milk. "Nice to meet you, I'm Thomas, Gabbi's brother. I see you two have made friends. Shame that Tom Riddle kid got in Slytherin. He was cool." Thomas babbled on and on, Gabbi began to clock him out.

Gabbi was daydreaming about the face she saw in the water in the lake on the boat outside of Hogwarts. [<- Lol wow that sentence O_O xD] It was pale, very pale. She thought back to the boy saying nothing but fish lived in those waters. Impossible, She know what she saw.

nimh 07-10-2011 11:33 PM

Aryana smiled as Gabbi's brother Thomas shook her hand and began babbling about Tom Riddle. Nasty, rotten Tom Riddle. Similing politely Aryana glanced down at her plate and began to eat. Nibbling on this and that and trying to avoid the subject of Tom Riddle. He scared her. Especially now that he had teamed up with her cousins. Aryana glanced at the doors to the great hall just as they entered. Bellatrix and Tom looked at her and sneered. Narcissa and Regulus didn't even glance her way. Gosh it was nerve wracking to be in th same school at the same time as them.

By the time Gabbi had recognized what Aryana was staring at, they had long since had a seat at their table on the far end of the room. She drank some juice, she wasn't sure what kind it was but it was delicious, and spoke in a quiet voice, so not to interupt her brother, to Aryana. "We shouldn't let them ruin our first day. We have so much magic to learn, So many things to try." About the time she was going to get in the deep with her speech, a loud ringing began. It was as if a gaint iron bell was clanging off it's stand. Everyone else was on the move, Gabbi and Aryana just sat there, watching. "I think it's time to go to our first class," Gabbi said with a gulp.

(sorry it's such a short reply)

Aryana nodded, "We really shouldn't but it's hard not too. I'll get my face burned off the family tapestry for this, Not that that's a bad thing in the first place but still, it's horrid to have to see them everyday." Finishing her breakfast quickly Aryana shoved away from the table when the bell rang, "I think so. Let's to potions then yes?" Aryana took Gabby by the hand and pulled her out of the great hall and down towards the dungeons.
