Hester balked a little at the boys odd expression but did not say a word and forced out an awkward smile.
"Cool. That's pretty brilliant. I mean that your so esteemed and well known and all that. Ill make it easier, i mean since people know you," Hester let out a sort of nervous chuckle. He knew he was rambling, but he didnt really know what to say to the boy. He scared him a bit, through he wasnt sure why.
"Do you have any family that went here? I mean like a sibling or something?" He asked, prodding at small talk. Just to be safe.

"No...I don't have any siblings..." He said softly with a frown, "My Mum went and uh my Dad went I believe not sure...so did my Aunt and Uncle....and so on for a couple generations...long line of pure bloods..." He said with a shrug. The conversation of family seemed to have him thinking, "Don't know much about my dad...all I have from him is my Wand..."

"You have his wand? Cool," He said, trying to keep himself chipper, " Thats a pretty awesome memento...even better that you can actually use it. I tried using my mom's wand once. I accidentally blew a tree in half. We didnt have any grapes that year."
Hester thought wistfully about his uncles old magic grape tree. It was a beautiful thing. Fortunately it grew back, but only on once side. Now it was only half a grape tree and it looked very odd and lopsided.
"But still that's really awesome"

Davin laughed at the idea of a tree blowing up, "Nice..." He grinned as he took out his wand, "Thirteen and a half inches, yew, with a Phoenix feather core..." He grinned looking at it happily. "Once I'm old enough to go to Diagon Alley by myself I'm going to have Olivander check it then I'll know who my Father is..." He smiled softly looking at the wand hopefully.

"Cool," Hester said, smiling as best as he was able and pulled his own wand out, an inky black and glimmering to the tip, "Ebony with unicorn mane. I never went to Olivander's actually. My uncle took me to a friend of his to pick out the wand, he makes them himself apparently. It took me three days to find the right one."
He chuckled then, remembering how much mayhem he had accidentally caused in those three days and returned the wand into his robe pocket.
"But I'm sure you'll get your answer if it really means that much to you," He said, trying his best at a smile yet again. He really wasnt too sure if it was healthy for the boy to be this interested in his father, but he knew it was natural at the very least. So he did nothing to discourage it for the time being, even though he doubted the boy would ever meet his father, but he might get a name. Would that be enough for him?

Peyton listend quietly as she heard them and checked out there wants. She then sighed slightly, "my wand isn't that special looking, I made it after I got my letter from hogwarts." she said as she slowly pulled hers out. It wasn't that special but it ment alot to her since she had made it. "Kauri with Hippogriff Talon." she said softly as she smiled at her wand. She then nodded as she looked at Davin, "and I am sure that you will be able to find out who your dad is. I have already been there by myself so maybe when school is done I can take you to the wand shop." she said as she looked at him happily.

Davin looked curiously at her home-made wand, "And how does your wand work? I've never heard of anyone making their own from without studying wandlore..." Davin said curiously he tilted his head a bit studying Peyton interested.

"Made it yourself?" Hester asked, currious and exited like a kid in a candy store, "Thats incredible. How did you manage it?"

Peyton was surprised when they eyed her like she was food. She then looked down at her wand and smiled, "well since I didn't have much and I wasn't 100% sure if I could afford one I decided to make one. I headed over to Olivanders and asked him if maybe he would teach me how to make one. He wasn't to sure but after he started to each me I got ahold of it really quickly. They aren't hard to make at all if you put your mind to it." she said as she looked at them. She then huckled softly, "actually when Olivander finished helping me he said he was surprised that a girl so young could make a wand like mine. He says I have the hands of a great wand maker." she said as she smiled at them.

Davin continued to stare at her thoughtfully finally he said, "Maybe that's what your job should be...there aren't many Wandmakers left..." He said thinking. He looked at Hester to see if he thought so as well.

Hester just smiled at the two of them, "Well, i guess your a prodigy then!"
Belladonna let out a very human-like sigh and tucked her head under the sleeve of Hester's robe. It was not very long after that that the Hogwarts Express came to a stop at their final destination. Hester swallowed nervously as he watched the world grind to a halt from the window.

Petyon blushed and shook her head, "I am no prodigy, I am just peyton. I am good at certain things but other mundane things like cooking and cleaning I manage to make them the most difficult things ever." she said as she looked at them. "for example I managed to make a plain ham sandwitch taste like dirty socks and I managed to make a house look as if a murder had happened when I was cleaning it." she said as she looked at him and knew it probably sounded rediculous but it was true. She then saw where they were and exictment ran threw her as she couldn't wait to get off. Gently she petted scout and he purred.

Davin grinned as he saw the school fixing up his school robes a bit he slipped his wand back into his robes and stood up. "Allright…" He said to know one in particular as he gathered his things and got ready to get off the train waiting for his two companions, "What house do you think you'll get into?" He asked the two thoughtfully.

"Hufflepuff maybe..." He said nervously.

Davin looked at Hester thoughtfully, "Nah you seem to cool to be in Hufflepuff…not enough Badger in you…" Davin smirked.

"Honey badgers can be wicked though, they take down cobras and get bitten and don't die. And they don't even use magic! But i dont know really, I'm not quite good enough to be in Gryffindor," He said with a touch of regret. Both of his parents had been Gryffindor's, but he knew very well that heredity had nothing to do with it.

Davin nodded understanding his friends argument, "My mom was in Gryffindor…" Davin said thoughtfully, 'My Aunt doubts I'll get into any house but Gyriffindor…I think she'll kill me if I end up in Slytherin…I'll tarnish the Confair name…" He said slightly jokingly, "Personally, I don't mind much if I did end up in Slytherin…they might have a bit of a bad rap but, they've had some great wizards…" He said wistfully.

"My uncle says the way that they sort students here is silly and leads to confrontation. I dont know, i just not sure about it. I mean, i like the idea of houses, but what if we don't fit into ether of them?" Hester asked uncertainly and stepped off the train, Belladonna sticking close on his tail.
"What do you think?"

Davin frowned, "Yeah fitting in…that will be fun…" He looked down, "You have any siblings Hester?" He asked looking a bit sad. He never had much experience trying to fit in. He did have any siblings as far as he knew, nor did he have any cousins, or talking age at least. He had maybe one other friend but he was a squib, so he wouldn't be at Hogwarts.

"I have a sister...but ive only met her a few times. Shes much older than me. Went to Hogwarts herself," He said with a shrug, "Cant really say much about her other than that were related. Were not close obviously."

Davin nodded a bit comforted that Hester was in the same type of situation as him. He smiled at Hester as they walked following the masses. Davin's head shot up as he heard a loud booming voice calling out, "First years first years this way!" Davin looked up at the huge calling person.
"Whoa…" He said softly, "Com'on Hes!" He said pulling the other boy along.

Hester took in a quick gulp of air as the unknown person's voice boomed out into their first year crowd. A shiver ran up his spine. There was no turning back now. "Alright," He said and stuck to Davin like glue, leaving Payton behind.
bam2cam: Davin followed the loud tall person with a kind of curiosity and fear, "I think that's Hagrid my Aunt mention there being a really large grounds keeper…" He said as they reached the edge of the lake where kids were being grouped into pairs and loaded into enchanted boats. "Wicked…look you can you see the castle…" He said pointing.
“Strange…” Hester muttered as he watched the huge, shaggy silhouette of Hagrid heading the sea of first year students. And as Davin’s excitement turned his eyes up to the castle, and sat in his boat agast at the huge building.
“Its…Magnificent,” He said, grinning like an idiot, “We get to LIVE here Davin. Actually live here!”
bam2cam: At his friend's excitement Davin looked at him and beamed a normal human grin, "It's like a wonderful dream! Imagine all the secrets this place has! All the adventures we'll have!" Davin said looked at him wide eyed.
“Ahah, I don’t know about that…but…wow…” Hester said, speechless.
bam2cam: Either Davin didn't hear Hester or decided to ignore his comment but he just continued to grin as he headed to a boat happily.
It wasn't long till the two friends and all the other first years were gathered in the great hall of the castle. Just the great hall alone was huge looking around one could see numerous moving staircases overhead. To the side there were four large hour glasses each marked with a different house. They all stood there for a while be for an elegant and elderly witch in an emerald hat and cloak. "Could I have your attention please!" It wasn't a question and instantly all the students fell silent. "Welcome to Hogwarts! In a few moments you will step through these doors and be sorted. While your here you house will be like your family. Good behavior will be rewarded misdeeds will be punished…Now we shall enter…" She said turning and leading them through.
As they entered the dining hall the tall enchanted ceiling was littered with stars and at the other end of the room there was a hat on a stool. "What's that do you think?" Davin whispered to Hester.
Hester stared, eyes wide and sparkling up at the ceiling. He smiled widely at it, nostalgia filling his mind, as he looked back to Davin.
“Its beautiful. Ive seen a ceiling bewitched like that before. My uncle would do it occasionally if I had trouble sleeping. But ive never seen it done so well…and so clear on a surface so high up… Its incredible.” Hester said, rambling happily. He would be lying to say that the elderly witch did not intimidate him a bit, but the dining hall was enough to distract him from his nervousness temporarily.
bam2cam: Davin grinned, "Cool…" he said breathlessly. He looked at the hat which just moved and cleared it's throat(?) every one fell silent. And the hat began to sing…

Davin joined in with the other students clapping. "Amazing!"
Hester let out a laugh and clapped at the sorting hats little song.
Davin grinned happily while the witch from before who was the headmistress began to talk , "I will now call the names!"
There were seveal names called then it was Davin's name who was called. Taking a deep breath he walked over to where the hat was as it was placed on his head. "well now this is a puzzle I thought I had seen the last of Salazar's heirs…" the hat spoke, "Well then boy know about of loyalty , wit, or bravery would change you placement, Heir of Salazar…" there was a pause as if the hat was deciding something then it called put for all to hear, "Slytherin!" Slytherin table burst into applause as Davin walked over to the table and sat down next to another first year boy.
A boy was call up named Ludovico Arivagus the second the hat touches his head he was sent to Slytherin. He was the boy Davin was sitting next to.
Hester felt Davin’s absence immediately. The nervousness crept up on him again as he fidgeted uncomfortably.
“Hester Flood,” The witch called.
Hester took in a quick gulp of air, trying not to faint, and shuffled up to the stage. The headmistress eyed him quizzically, wondering why he looked like he was going to be flogged rather than wear a wormy old cone hat. Hester did his best to avoid her eyes and sat down on the stool. He had to hold back a little grimace as the hat made contact to his head, it was old and scratchy but moist from all the young children who had already warn it. He held back a gag of distaste.
“Hmmm,” the hat said, and Hester jumped from the sudden booming voice just above him.
“A bit tricky, a bit tricky indeed. Your bright, brighter than you know boy. You’d learn well in Ravenclaw. Yes, a great scholar. But you seem to need a bit more than learning. I almost have a mind to send you to Hufflepuff…Such a cleaver streak though. RAVENCLAW!” The hat shouted out, more as if he was settling than truly making a decision. With that, the hat was removed, and Hester blushed at the applause from his new house and, really, the entire situation. Ravenclaw? He had never expected that. He wasn’t smart enough to be a Ravenclaw, but he sat down with them anyway and hoped that he might at least get a good meal out of the night.
Ludovico Arivagus, eyed his new house like a triumphant king might eye his new treasure, won from a long battle just won. It was his, this Slitherin house, and he would take it gladly. He let out a slight chuckle and looked to the boy beside him.
“You look like a first year,” He pointed out, “Ill stick with you then.”
He grinned, and offered his hand to shake, “Ludovico, but you can call me Ludo if youd like… or Arivagus. Runs off the tongue rather nicely doesn’t it? Sounds old and regal. Don’t you think?”
bam2cam: Davin looked at the Ludo boy for a bit thinking, "It does…" He agreed, "Davin Confair…a dull name by comparison…" He said giving an inhuman smile. He was glad for Hester but sad they weren't in the same house, hopefully they would have classes together.
Ludo grinned at that, “Oh its not that bad Duckie, Its cute. Woah, bloody hell, you grin like a jack o’lantern! Hah! I like it. I have this feeling, Dav, that your going to be a good friend. Don’t you?”
Hester shivered as one of the second year girls looked over at him from across the table. Nervousness was lurking up his spine as he tried to look away. The girl looked a bit offended at this, but he couldn’t help it. He wanted Davin back. It wasn’t fair, he had made a friend, and then theyd been ripped apart. Stupid sorting hat.
Davin only grinned even more twistedly at his new friends comment, "Hah really my Aunt bloody hates it she says I makes me look like I've been to involved in the Dark Arts!" His eyes gleamed darkly with something, "Very good friends…" He said with a grin.
“Well maybe you are, like sleep spelling or something. Cool,” He said with an equally wicked smile, though it was not nearly as warped as Davins was, but it was genuinely filled with ill intention, “You are rooming with me then, Well be palls and all that,”

bam2cam: "Possibly…" He said thoughtfully. He looked at Ludo with a dark question in his eyes, "Cause a bit of mayhem and never get caught?" Davin said slyly.

bam2cam: "Centaur dung… I was hoping you were at least it would have been cool…I can by the way My Aunt said I was born talking to snakes…" Davin said as he looked at Ludo, "I suppose I could try and teach you though… if no one else in the school can speak it we'd have our own secret code…" Davin said smirking a bit.

bam2cam: Davin smirked, "Yeah I'll teach you…" He said thoughtfully, "on one condition though…"

bam2cam: "You help me find out who my father is and if possible track him down…" Davin said stone cold serious. Hester was right when he said it was a bit of a bad obsession.
nekochan5345: "Hm...well, I an certainly help you," He said with a grin, "Why? Dont you know? Youldnt your mother tell you? Or do you not have one of those ether?"
bam2cam: "I had a mom up until about five years ago…she killed herself…according to her suicide note I was the reason…it wasn't her first attempt never really knew her much after I was born she got this bloody muggle disease called post pardom depression and was instantly taken to St. Mungo's…every time I went to visit she'd have to be restrained cos she kept trying to make grabs at me…"
bam2cam: Davin said with scowl part of him was ashamed at his mother's weakness but the other part made him wonder what could be so bad about him or his father that his blood mother would act such a way.
nekochan5345: "Muggle disease eh? Typical. Well, my condolances I guess..." Ludo said with a shrug, "Well I'll help you reguardless i guess. Cant be that hard"
bam2cam: Davin grinned, "Thanks mate no it shouldn't the hat did say something unusual in my sorting though. He said I was a Heir of Slazar…"

bam2cam: Davin nodded as the feast appeared and with a wicked grin he began to pile his plate greedily.

Davin groaned as he woke up. He stretched cracking his knuckled. He pulled back the curtains of his four poster bed to see if Ludo was up. He grinned at his friend as he stood.

The night had grown longer and longer before Hester dared to down even a bit of his supper, as he was so nervous he didn’t even think to begin eating it. The only reason that he had even begun to eat was that Belladonna had become restless and attempted to steal one of the slabs of salmon off the table. The laughing and awkward glances that the other children gave him as he attempted to control his familiar were unbearable. The only way he felt possible to relieve it was to eat and pretend nothing had happened. So, he did exactly that.
When dinner had finished all the students were led by their respective house leaders to their dormitories.
“Alright,” the boy at the front said, a short puggy six year who didn’t have his cap on quite right, “To get into Ravenclaw commons you’re going to need a bit more than a password. We use riddles. We learn from start to finish in this house”
The riddle was easy enough to figure out, at least to him, though one of the other students were the first to give the answer. Not that he minded much. From there he was taken to his room along with another boy.
“I’m Cyril…Cyril Johnson,” He had said when they entered their room. The boy was a bulky olive skinned boy who’s robes were far too small on him.
“Hester Flood,” He said with a feigned smile.
“Cool, hester, just so you know, I sleep walk.”
“Im fine with that”

Of course he said that then, but now as he woke up with Cyril breathing against his neck and with both his arms and legs locking him down, he wished he had asked for another roommate.

Davin dressed quickly eager to get to breakfast and then get his class schedual. He also wanted to see Hester, he had a question for him and also hopped they would be in some classes together. He frowned as he saw Ludo was still asleep.

Hester did the same

After he was done getting dressed he decided that he didn't care whether or not Ludo was sleeping he didn't want to go down to the dinning hall by himself so he shook Ludo awake. "Oi...mate...Ludo...wake up mate!" He said.
