"I don't care, I just wanted her to shut up. She has no idea what she's talking about. I want you and my kid to be safe." House uses Wilson's keys to open his office and usher the other man inside. He maneuvered the oncologist to the couch. With slightly shaking hands House checked over Wilson's head. The bump on his skull was about egg sized now and tender to the touch. He sat beside his friend. "You'll be fine, do you want me to get you anything? Booze, Coffee, a kiss?" House gave him a snarky smile and pressed a kiss to the oncologist's wound.
|
Wilson ponders, "Yea, I suppose you are right on wanting to shut her up." He flops on the couch easily and willingly. "I still cannot believe an of this. One hell of a fucking day. With you nothing is ever boring is it? Who were they and how did you piss em off?" He looks at House and winces the minute he touches his bump on his head. "Ow....and bozze would be a bad idea. Kiss will do." He shifts and catches House's lips and kisses him deeply.
|
House moans into the kiss, the action reaffirms their relationship and reminds the doctor that his partner is still alive. He pulls away closing his eyes and leaning his head against Wilson's. "You scared me. Don't do that ever again." He presses another kiss on the oncologist's forehead. "Seems our attackers were former patients of mine. The nurse said I killed her husband."
A knock sounds through the little office. House turned to the door. "What?!" He kept his voice low so he won't aggravate Wilson's headache. Chase peaks his blond head into the room, "Are you both alright?" House sighed, "We're fine Wombat boy. Get in here and close the door." Chase slinks in sitting on a chair. House moves slightly away from Wilson. He didn't want to give the Aussie any ideas about their relationship. The boy doctor starts twiddling his thumbs. "Chase, what?" "Well I just wanted to know if the rumors were true. Is that really your kid?" |
Wilson snickers inwardly at House's moan. Enjoy the others pleasure in all of this affection. He did after all DESERVE it. "I didn't do it on purpose House. I was knocked out and hit with a gun." He ruffles his hair lightly. "I wont leave you." He ponders on that and sighs, "Revenge or attempted revenge. You have a great way with people." He shakes his head sadly and moves away when Chase comes in.
"Yea, it is Chase. Man, news spreads fast dosn't it?", he shakes his head. Holding his ice to his lump. "Amazingly fast." He looks from chase to House. "You glad they know know or?" |
House sigh irritated. It doesn't really surprise him that the information was already circulating around the office. "The nurses in this hospital don't have enough to do. It's better anyways. I don't want her in the care of some idiot around here." Thinking, his hands tapping out a beat on the top of his cane, House decided he should call his lawyer and get the old man to come down here. He needed to get some kind of parental rights, especially after today's incident. The doctor leaned back on the couch and looked at the wombat.
"How is she doing?" House kept his face emotionless and his tone normal as he inquired after his daughter. Chase gave a lopsided smile. "She's stable, Foreman made sure she was transfered under the diagnostic team and had security placed around her. The police were called and their investigating the child abuse. We'll keep a close eye on her. Cameron put an extra bed in the room if you want to stay with her." House could have hugged the Aussie at that moment, instead he gave a nod of thanks. "I've got a few things to do. I'll be in later. See ya Chase." |
Wilson looks over at House once Chase has left the room, "Do you want me to go and get some clothing and things for you so you can stay tonight?" He kisses his cheek softly, "I am surprised at how your team stepped up so fast. Than again maybe I shouldn't be. Also, glad she has protection around her now so she can rest."
He moves away once more as another knock comes on the door. Taub comes in holding the blood panel results for House. "Here House. These are the results of the panel you wanted ran." He eyes House, "I can't see you as a dad but. Stranger things have happened." |
House ignored the doctor's comments and looked over the blood chemistry. They'd given her a high dose of animal tranquilizers, about the same dosage that was used to put a large dog down. The diagnostician handed the paper to Wilson and excused Taub from the room. He could feel the anger bubbling up in his chest. How dare they treat the girl as if she was a common house pet. He needed a drink...House sat back down on the couch and put his head in his hands. "I swear if that bitch lives she'll spend the rest of her life in prison! I need to call my lawyer and get him to start some paperwork since everything's out in the open now." He leans against the other doctor, tucking Wilson's head under his chin and pulling him into his arms.
|
Wilson curls contently against House. Trying to keep his eyes open and mind focused on staying awake instead of falling asleep against the other doctor. He was glad Taub was gone now and the other so they could get some well cuddle time in without being interrupted. "What did the results say?", he asks softly. Shifting a bit to kiss House's cheek. "Its over. She wont be able to go near your daughter again. And will rot in hell and jail for this." He shakes his head sadly, "Why even attack an innocent person is beyond me. Yes, get the lawyer here. That would be better..do this here and now."
|
House kept Wilson near his chest running an absent minded hand through his thick hair. "You can close your eyes, I'll watch to make sure you keep breathing." He pulled out his cell phone and called his lawyer. "I need to speak to William Abrabanel...tell him it's Gregory House, it's an emergency." The secretary puts him on hold then transfer's him quickly to the lawyer.
"Greg how are you use old son of a bitch! What can I do for you? Your appointment isn't until tomorrow..." The lawyer's voice was nasally and slightly high pitched. Greg put up with it, only because the old bastard was the best in the city. "I need you to come down to the hospital. I found out that I've got a daughter..." House spoke quickly relating the whole story... "so you need to work your lawyer magic and make sure I can keep my daughter." "I'll see what I can do Greg. I should be there in about an hour, let me move things around." The lawyer hung up, and House felt some of the stress ease off of his shoulders. He kissed the top of Wilson's head and checked his pulse. He was asleep, but not too asleep. |
Wilson was truly curled against House. Using his chest as a form of a pillow of sorts. Kinda boney but it would have to do. He makes note to feed House more to fatten him back up again to a normal weight. Loosing his battle against the sleep that wanted to take him so badly. Knowing House was there at least so he COULD sleep a bit.
His poor head was throbbing still dully and would be for awhile. He didn't dream ethier in to light of a sleep to dream. He shifts a bit and could hear House on the phone. He was glad everything sounded to be going well. It took awhile before he reopens his eyes groggily. "Mmm, how long was I asleep for House?" |
"About ten minutes, how's your goose egg?" House moved the ice pack and looked at the large bump. "I'm afraid to saw it Dr. Wilson, but it looks like you'll make it, but not without a major headache for the next few days. You should get Cuddy to give you time off and I'll work extra hard to distract you from the pain." He pressed a kiss to Wilson's neck and nipped at an ear.
|
Wilson chuckles and sighs contently staying put against House. "I wish it was so easy. My patients need me House and you know it. As for making it good...as for the headache NOT so good." He grins at House's flirting, "Sorry if my damn head wasn't pounding I would be more flirty." He pauses and looks down at his pager sighing, "I am needed again. Going to see you child or?"
|
House gave Wilson a light chuckle at the oncologist attempts to flirt. "Your fine, Wilson. Take it easy though alright? I'll be with my daughter when you're done. If your headache gets any worse you come and get me immediately." Pressing one last kiss to James' lips he headed out the door and down the hall into the diagnostic wing. He nodded to the security guards as they opened the door and let him into her room. They followed him in, "Guys, I'm her father. Take it easy, I'm the guy that saved her the first time around." They nodded and left House with his daughter. The little girl was hooked up to a respirator and her body was being flushed out with saline fluids. Her body looked even smaller surrounded by all the large hospital equipment. A dialysis machine cleaned the drug from her system, keeping her kidney's working. Her frail form was situated in the middle of bed. He looked over her chart, she was in a coma.
House sighed and sat on the edge of the bed adjusting the bunny and blanket closer to his daughter. "I'm so sorry sweetheart, I'm so sorry. I should have stayed with you. You'll be alright though...I won't leave you until your ready to come home with me alright...I found a big blue house for us..." House continues to talk to his daughter telling her about the house, Wilson, her grandma and anything else he could think of before his voice grew horse. |
Even if she was in a coma she could still hear him. Still sorta faintly but hear him none the less and what he was saying was still interesting to her. Who in the world was this guy anyway?! OK, so he claimed to be her dad who she hadn't had before? How was that possible? They had said he was dead? Maybe he is a ghost? Confusing more was the rest he was talking about. a house? A blue one? Her home was a closet in hell..what house? Not like she would be to trusting when she woke up even of him. Though, it wouldn't be personal after all.
Wilson took his time with his patient. Making sure everything was stable and alright before he finally heads to the girl's new room. Stopping at the guards first and than heading into the room itself. He stops and shakes his head sadly at the sight of her now. It made him sick to his stomach. "Shit..she is that bad?" He moves over to House and sits down next to House on the edge of the bed slowly. |
"If that woman wasn't already dead I'd kill her." House sighed wiping the moisture from the corners of his eyes. "She'll be okay though. We caught the drug in time. They tried to put her down like an animal James. She's just a child!" He leaned over to Wilson to get a hug and a kiss for comfort. A light knock made them separate. Cameron popped in followed by the lawyer.
"I found this nice little old man downstairs looking for you House." His former lover lead the old jewish man to a chair and pulled over a small table. William smiled up at Cameron then ogled her tight butt as she bent over to pick up a pen. House gave a fond chuckle and got up to shake the man's hand. "It's good to see you William." "You too Greg." William grabbed Cameron's hand and gave it a kiss on the back of it. "Thank you miss, but I need to speak to my client privately." She nodded and headed out, the old man watching her leave. After the door closed William turned back to House. "Ooo...that is a sexy shtixa Greg. Be still my old heart." |
Wilson shakes his head and scowls, "What a horrible , horrible thing to do to a child!" He shakes his head and looks her over. She didn't look so ok in that state with all those machines. BUT, he knew she was medically speaking. He offers House a hug and pulls away when he did quickly.
He looks as House's lawyer walks in with Cameron and flirts with her. He shakes his head amused and could see why House liked the man. "Should I leave you two or?" He looks at them both carefully wondering if he was in the way of a very, very important talk to get the child into House's full custadity. |
William looked up eyes owlish behind his thick glasses. "You're Dr. Wilson correct, yes...you actually need to stay. Sit down young man you're giving my neck such a crick." House pulls over another chair for Wilson and they gather around a growing pile of paper work. "Oy Greg, I've never seen such a Kapporra, but I was able to figure out how you might be able to keep your daughter. Suffice to say after your stay in rehab, and all the other smook on your record the state would not deem you a totally fit parent." House opened his mouth to protest, but the little lawyer put a hand in the air.
"Let me finish...You'd be what they consider a risky choice. It wouldn't matter though if you...well were married. So if we can prove that you are in a stable relationship and can provide the child with a good home you'll get to keep you daughter. Now I had my girl do a little digging around your ex wife's past and we found your daughter's name, 'Jessie'." He handed House the social services file. "Don't go flashing that around now, I didn't get it very legally. From what you've told em though, I think that we have a case to sue the state to reckless abandonment. She was never checked on by her social worker." House processed the new information with wide eyes. "So, when do we need to start and how much do I owe you." House reached for his wallet. "No my boy I still owe you for saving my Grace last year. Besides, we need to get that little one in a safe home." William patted House's hand. "Now Dr. Wilson are you who my boy is with? Because, you two getting married would make this case easy to win. You're an upstanding member of society, and a cancer physician." House looked at him questionally wondering how the little man knew. "That shixa walked past you Greg and you couldn't pull your eyes away from Wilson. So when is the wedding?" |
Wilson takes a seat and listens to everything that William had to say. Also, to what House had been saying as well. Not feeling the need to speak up yet. That and his head was still pounding and was so more now as the pain meds were slowly loosing there potency. "He would be. But you are right. He is the right choice for her and to sue that state would be a great idea."
He pauses and looks at the both of them about the wedding and marriage. He blinks a few times, "Well, how long do we have for it? Or...will that help at all or will dating be enough." He rubs the back of his neck. It wasn't that he didn't want to marry House. Things were moving just seemingly to FAST for him. He shifts and curls his fingers around House's tightly. |
House was also uncomfortable with the whole situation. He loved Wilson, but he'd never had a relationship that didn't end in heart ache for one or both parties. "William let's just put the whole marriage thing on the back burner. Wilson and I, we just started our relationship." He returned James' squeeze.
"Alright...it's fine as long as you two are in a stable relationship it plays in your favor Greg. If you two don't want to get married yet, then get a home together. The more we can show the court the better." The old lawyer looked at his watch his eyes widening at the time. "I've got to go, but Greg if you are ready to start a case against the state and the paperwork to get your daughter just sign these two and initial here. And Dr. Wilson, here is a document for your lawyer to read over that would make you the little girl's other guardian. Take time, and make sure it is written to your satisfaction." The hobbit of a man packed away the papers after House signed them and patted both of them on the cheek. "You two be good. I'll be in touch." He left the room with a chuckle and headed back to the front of the hospital. House felt a laugh bubble out of his stomach. William was one of the few people that could make him really laugh. He smiled at the other doctor and pressed a kiss on his lips. As he pulled back Greg could see the pain slowly leaking back into the oncologist's eyes. "Wilson, do you need some more pain meds? We shouldn't let your headache get worse." |
Wilson nods, Yes, he is right. We did just start in our relationship So it would be best as he said to put the marriage on the back burner." Poor guy had enough of divorce and pain. He knew House did as well and who needed that right now? Niether of them! He nods, "Yes we are both in a stable relationship however." He looks down at he papers he was given to sign. "I will get these done as soon as possible for you. As for a home we are looking into one right now in fact." He smiles and was glad they were.
Once William was gone he nods, "Yea its getting worse again." He sighs, "I think I will try and nap again after meds. I will stay in here though with you." He kisses him in return. "That way you don't have to leave her." |
"Thanks Jimmy." House stole a quick kiss and got up to call for a nurse. "You can lay down on the bed, the nurse should be in with something in a moment." At his words a knock sounded on the door and one of the nurses came in.
"Oh hello Dr. House, I've got some medicine here for Dr. Wilson. I also need to check the young lady's dialysis machine." She handed Wilson his medication. "This is an anti-inflammatory and some Demerol, you'll be very sleepy." "I'll keep an I on him. Thank you miss." House watched her check over his daughter. She tucked the blanket around the girl, and patted her hand. "It looks like somebody cares about you little lady." The nurse gave House a knowing smile. "I'll be watching the light if you need anything, just ring." With a smile she excused herself. Greg walked over to Wilson and got a blanket out of the cupboard covering the man. He sat on the edge of the bed. "Would you mind if I shared a nap with you?" |
Wilson nods and thanks him getting up and heading over to the other bed in the room. Glad that it was there. Shifting he takes off his shoes and his tie wanting to get more comfy before pulling back the sheet on top and laying down on the bed. Laying his aching head on the pillow.
Taking the offered meds he nods, "Thank you. I don't mind if I am sleepy. I think I need the rest anyway." He takes the pills and watches the nurse check her over. Once the nurse leaves he makes room for House on the bed. "No, I don't mind." He was already starting to get clearly groggy. Soon he was fast asleep on the bed. Having left room for House. However, as Wilson falls asleep the little girl's blue eyes finally open up. Though not truly with it still and sorta dopy. Looking at the ceiling and painfully bright lights above her. She really had no clue what the hell happened nor did she really want to know. |
House was about to lay down next to Wilson when he saw his daughter's eyes suddenly open. He rushed to her side. He could tell the lights were hurting her eyes so he turned them down a little. The doctor sat on the edge of his daughter's bed but did not crowd her. Who knew what she had gone though. He spoke softly. "Hi Jessie, You're in the hospital. The people who hurt you are gone, they aren't coming back. I-I'm your dad. I'm so sorry that I wasn't there...for you. Just rest alright, you need your strength. I'll be right here when you wake up, then we'll get some of these tubes out." He brushed back her hair, and tucked the bunny into her arms.
|
Jessie blinks a few times as her eyes that matched her father's crystal blue ones once more ajust to the room as much as they could at the moment. They flicker toward him as she tried to move but had far to many things attached to her at the moment. Calm replaced rapidly by fear and a almost submission as she looks at him. Even though she had been hearing him and was hearing him now she was stills cared of him. Father or not. This coming after a life time of pure abuse and neglect. She did feel the bunny in her arms and that actually did sooth her a bit. She wanted to trust this sudden father figure in her life. It would just take some time. Meanwhile, Wilson was snoring next to them faintly. He was fine though.
|
House pulled a chair in between both bed so he could watch both Wilson and his little girl. He threaded his hand with the oncologist and rested his head on his daughter's bed to try and get some shut eye. For the first time in a month he slept very well. He woke later well rested when a nurse entered the room to help check on his daughter.
She noticed that the little girl was wake and breathing. The nurse petted the girl's forehead waking her up, "Hey sweety, we're gonna take you off your respirator. Your dad's right here. Dr. House, would you hold her hand please. I want you to take a deep breath and 1-2-3." The nurse pulled the tube out slowly. House held one of the small pale hands. |
