Like for example, I was reading Kare Kano. So much stuff happens to that girl, and I'm thinking, "Wth." It seems to happen in every story I read. A lot of stuff happens to the main girl, and you're left wondering "Why is she going after this guy, if so much bad has happened to her?" Yes, relationships, romance, great. But I don't want there to be a shit ton of drama to get to the happy ending. I'm fine with a little drama, but not piles of it. [Also, I read romance novels sometimes, and those are M/F. I'm not saying I have a problem with M/F.] |
Okay, so we are still talking magna here. Yeah, if these are the ones aimed at teen girls (because those seem to flood the market) there is a lot to be desired there. I wonder how much of that is because the authors feel that girls that age can't be put upon to deal with a story that doesn't just hand them things, and their avatar? And thinks there's a need for over the top drama. I don't know if the Josei ones are any better, I haven't really read those. But there have to some out there. Something more in the vein of Ghibli and their heroines. Though there's usually more going on there than a romance plot.

Heh, still a full sway towards Yaoi here. Good, goood *Evil Fingers*

I love yaoi! I am a totally yaoi fan manic! I do wish they make more yaoi anime than manga. Or turn some of the manga into anime.
|
I second that emotion! There are some good Yaoi out there with some amazing plot in them! It's not like all we want is more full color smut, right ?!?! :P

One manga that I would love for them to make an anime out of is the Crimson Spell.
