The sky had been pouring out big, wet tears all afternoon. The small boy, as old as he was, still looked like a drowned rat as he made his way for the cave entrance. It was the largest and safest looking place for him, as of now, and he didn't think anything of who may be taking up residence here. Shivering a little, he looked to the safety of the cave, his hair down his face and plastered to his mostly bare neck and back. Honestly, he looked rather pathetic and not very well cared for. His ribs showed through, and he was dirty and bruised with a few cuts marring his otherwise soft-looking, pale skin. He hid, most times, having been kicked from the village, blamed for their bad luck with the dragon because his mother was a single woman and had never been married to his father.
Now, those dark green eyes carefully watched the inside of the cave. Finding it to be safe, for now, he started inside past the river of puddles. |
Luceos hated the rain, he hated the way it made his fur mat up, the way it ruined his feathers, and the way it reminded him of Tefell's dark blue scales and silver eyes. Beating his wings harder to steady himself in the wind, the dragon spotted his cave and glided in a slow spiral downward. He was utterly exhaused too, only adding to his mood. There hadn't been a single edible thing, besides a few humans who had left one of his paws a bloody mess, in the woods.
He stumbled on the thick wet grass outside his cave as he landed and his paws slipped out from below him. Snarling as he stood back up Luceos shook off as much water as he could before stepping inside his cave. He shivered and snorted, his breath steaming in the cold cave. He knew it would be warmer when he got farther inside where he was set up. The dragon stopped mid stride to stare at what he found inside his cave... a human. A young, wet one at that, but a human. Pushing aside the possiblity that the human could have not ment any harm he gave a snarl and lifted himself to his full hight. Normally, he would have been a menacing sight to a human, though soaking wet and barely able to hold himself upright Luceos probably couldn't even breath enought fire to scare him from the cave without echausting himself. |
The human was huddled close to a rock when he was noticed, and those dark eyes turned up to the creature, his lips slightly parted, and eyes red and swollen. He certainly didn't seem to be one of the people from the nearby village. Chewing at his lip a moment, he looked over the other, before noting that his paw was hurt. Standing up, he made his way closer to the dragon, eyes on his wound. Removing his last bit of clothing, a skirt-like piece, he bent before him and began to wrap the wound, sighing softly.
"It isn't good to fight when you're already hurt..." He whispered, as if he were only talking to himself, "It makes the pain greater, and it makes... It makes it harder to survive." Finally looking up, the much younger boy found himself as close to the dragon as he could be, naked as the day he was born and covered in scars and much larger bruises than they had first appeared. |
At first, Luceos was a little confused by why the human was helping him. Though he pricked his ears up to listen to the human's whispers better. With a snort he watched the boy use the last thing he wore the cloth himself as a wrapping for his wound. After a moment he shifted his weight and felt that it did hurt less than before, and he felt less likely to end up splayed out on my stomach like he had been earlier.
The boy couldn't have ment any harm if he'd helped him without a second thought, could he? Still a little confused about the boy Luceos wrapped his jaws around the boy;s midwection and lifted him off the ground. He was trying his best not to hurt the boy, he carried him most with the pair of dull teeth the sat in the very front of his mouth that he used to crete the spark needed for his firey breath. The first thing he needed to do was keep the boy warm, he could be helpful with keeping his wound from getting infected. |
When he was suddenly lifted and carried, he winced at first before closing his eyes and sighing softly, hugging his body around the other's snout and watching him. He felt odd, being carried naked like this, but he didn't say anything to allude to him being uncomfortable. Finally, the air began to grow warmer and he was excited to see the setup, even if it wasn't for much longer than a few minutes to be eaten.
|
There was a droop off after the cave had gone pitch-black. Gripping the edge with his paws Luceos jumped and dove down. He curcled his head up against his chest and protect the boy when he plunged into the warm water below. Pulling himself back up to the surface Luceos set his head over the edge and set the boy down as gently as he possibly could.
The caver was different from above. A white stone lined the sides and gave off a warm glow that lit the chamber. Stain glass mirrors reflected the light into a rainbow of colors. Luceos dragged himself out of the water and shook off once more. It was warmer down here, and it ws only a few steps for Luceos to reach a crevace in the chamber that was thickly covered with furs of all different colors and sizes. Laying down almost immedietly, Luceos patted a spot near his chest with a paw, motioning for Carin to join him. |
Carin slowly rose to his feet and stumbled after the other, following him to the soft padded 'bed'. A small smile moved onto his lips and he made his way to sit against the dragon's great chest. Pressing against the soft scales, he gently rubbed his face there, happy to seek whatever kind of solace he could get, because otherwise he was alone in this forest, all by himself. He'd learned to keep all sorts of company since he'd been kicked out, and since he'd run away from another town that had abused him after accepting him.
"What is your name...?" He questioned, "Can...you talk in this form?" He'd seen another dragon, hanging around the other village, a dragon who had a form he could take in the form of a human, and had heard of them doing the same. |
The dragon placed his head next to Carin when the boy nuzzled against his chest. Listening the the boy as he spoke the dragon lifted his head and nodded.
"I can..." He rumbled, the boy would be able to feel his chest vibrate. "Though it hurts." Luceos settled his head back down on the furs and closed his eyes. "and I am named Luceos." He added in, opening a wing to cover to boy as best he could. There was no point in letting the boy get sick was there? So he might as well keep the boy warm. |
Smiling a little, he curled up happily against his body, eyes closing slowly. He felt safe, now, comfortable and held safely, even if there was the chance he could get eaten.
"I'm Carin." He replied, petting his head gently, playing a little with the hair and feathers there, just seeing what was going on there, looking things over as he got used to his new companion, happily being covered by the wing. He hadn't realized how tired he was, until he finally got really comfortable and fell into a quick sleep, though it was heavy and filled with dreams. |
Luceos nodded slightly, Carin, it wasn't a name he'd heard before. At first, the dragon was a little wary of being touch by the human, but it wasn't long before he gave off a soft sound much like a purr. It felt good to be touched once more by another living being. As the boy fell asleep Luceos snuggled closer around him, and in time also fell asleep to the echoes of the rain falling outside.
|
The next morning, the small boy yawned a little and closed his eyes a bit tighter before finally blinking his eyes open after a few moments. His hands began to move over those soft scales and he smiled a little, humming a soft song his mother had hummed to him when he was younger. He closed his eyes a little, watching, half-dazed, as he looked at the other's body. It was magnificent and grand, something that made him blush a little and feel a little less than adequate. He didn't dare speak, yet.
|
Luceos woke shortly after Carin did. The feel of Carin's hands on his fur made him shiver for a moment. He lifted his head and opened his eyes, watching Carin from the side he leaned in after a moment and nuzzled the other's side in a warm gesture. The soft tune the human hummed felt oddly calming as Luceos lay his head down next to Carin, still watching the boy from the corner of his eye.
|
The nuzzle made Carin smile happily, joyous that he had a companion, for now. Even if he got eaten later, he figured it would be nicer than some of what he'd gone through. Most of it, without a doubt. "Good morning..." He smiled, "Can I take a look at your paw...?" He questioned, chewing his lip a little as he watched the large dragon watch him.
|
Luceos nodded and stood, shifting himself onto his hauches to make it easier to keep weight off his paw, which he held out for Carin to look at. It felt better, than it had the day before actually. If there was something the boy needed to treat the wound he figured he'd prabably have it somewhere in his stoage. He knew there was clothing there, it would be a bit big for Carin but it would do. He'd let the boy have his pick after he'd finished tending to his wound.
|
Moving to sit on his knees and legs, he smiled some as he very gently took the injured paw in one hand, holding it up as best as he could. He then began to untie the bandage that had previously been his clothes, looking over the gash and hissing a little. It looked a lot better but it most definitely needed to be clean. "Um... Do you have anything that we can use to clean it? More rags, maybe?" He questioned, looking up hopefully, with a smile to show he was harmless. "It looks a lot better, but it needs to be cleaned up some, and then wrapped again."
|
He nodded and stood, removing his paw from the boy's grip. Motioning for him to follow he padded towards the one tunnel that left the mai chamber. There were many little tunnels that branched off though it wasn't until the tunnel ended in another large chamber that Luceos stopped walking.
Shelves were carved into the the sides of the walls and it was lit by the same glowing white material that lined the walls as before. Stepping to the side Luceos looked back behind himself, anything the boy might need was found on a shelf somewhere in the room. |
Following along, Carin looked into the room once they arrived and gasped, looking around. This was certainly a good place to be. Making his way into the room, he found some actual bandages and some rags to clean it with. He smiled some, returning to the dragon with a bottle in his hands.
"This might sting some, but it will really help and it will make sure it doesn't get infected, alright?" He looked up hopefully, waving the bottle and hearing it slosh around some inside. |
Luceos nodded and laid down, the wounded paw outstretched towards Carin. A little stinging was something he could handle, though the dragon was nervous either way. He was always a little nervous around anything even remotely medical. It was just something he'd never get used to. Setting his head down Luceos closed his eyes, intent on not watching Carin re-wrap his wound.
|
Pouring a careful amount of the bubbling, disinfecting liquid over the wound, he watched it bubble and fizz for a bit before finally wiping it away with the rags, as well as the dried blood. Cleaning the wound very carefully and efficiently, Carin made himself finally begin to wrap the wound once more, cutting the bandage and tying it once it was finally ready. "There we go, all better. It looks a lot better, too." He smiled, gently tapping the side of the large dragon's face.
|
Luceos opened and eye and looked at Carin before lifting his head up and standing. He raised the newly wrapped paw and looked at it for a moment before setting it back on the ground. Looking down at Carin for a moment, the dragon nodded to thank the boy. "Now," He began. "We cloth you." He lifted the boy up in his jaws once more before heading to the opposite end of the room. There was a smallar chamber carved into the wall. Setting the boy down Luceos nudged him towards it. "Around the first corner it opens up, pick something you like." He instructed, for there was a sharp corner before the smaller chamber opened up to reveal shelves of cloths in styles that had been popular for the past hundred years and a full body mirror tucked to one side. The dragon hoped Carin could find something he liked.
|
Carin allowed himself to be carried rather easily, happy and feeling somehow safe with this dragon. That could be his last thought, but so far he was still alive and the dragon seemed to be ready to take care of him in return for the care he'd been given. Following the path he'd been given, he soon found himself among clothing, gasping a little in wonder at such stylish and amazing outfits. He squealed in delight and ran to the nearest, softest outfit he could find, surfacing in a red and white outfit that looked a bit big, but still nice on him. "How's it look?" He smiled, looking rather excited.
|
Luceos nodded in approval. "You look respectable, Carin." He replied, nuzzling the boy's shoulder. Raising his head away from the boy he felt his stomach rumble. If hew as hungery, shouldn't the boy be. "Are you hungery Carin?" He asked, thinking about what the boy would be able to eat that he could obtain.
|
Smiling at the nuzzling, he gently nuzzled back and touched what he could reach. When the other's stomach growled, he paled a little, before nodding some. "Y-yeah, I am. I'll eat just about anything, to be honest... I'm not picky."
