This isn't your typical fairy story. Things aren't all pretty and nice. Think don't tinker with buttons and screws. These are the fairies from olden myth. Who danced the dance of death for any traveler that happened upon their mound. The fairies are devided, between light and dark. There is a unsteady harmony between the races. What will happen when someone desturbs that harmony?

Void laughed and moved down the path with an easy walk. Frost chuckled beside him. "What was with what you did earlier? Led some girl into an alley, scared her half to death. That's cruel, bro." Void smirked. "That's what I'm here for." They'd just gotten back from the human city and were heading home.

Kara fluttered down the path. Her expression was cool and calm, but her actions were anything but. She was doing twirls, spins, and loops anywhere she could. Considering her power was wind, she enjoyed the feeling of it. She wasn't quite in need as an earth fairy or a water fairy, but she could bring a soft breeze on a hot summer day, and she did it quite often. Sometimes, if she's angry at a human for some random reason, she'll bring a hurricane or tornado on him. But, she usually leaves that to the dark wind fairies, because that's their specialty. Dark fairies hold the destructive forces of nature, Light fairies hold the rejuvenating and healing forces of nature. She was going so fast, and she wasn't watching where she was going, so naturally, and unfortunately, she slammed into a fairy knocking them both to the ground.

Once she gained her bearings, she stared at the fairy in shock. Wow... he was hot! No, no, no, no, no! No time to think about that. Besides, he's a Dark fairy. 1) He would never be interested in her, and 2) they move in two completely different circles. Still, common courtesy, and the law, required her to speak to him now. She got to her feet clumsily and pulled him up, using the wind to help. "I'm very sorry. I'm afraid I have a bad habit of not watching where I'm going when I'm flying. I hope I didn't hurt you" she apologized, looking anywhere but at his face. The law states that a fairy may do whatever he or she wishes to a human, but that he or she must not harm other fairies. In the instance that another fairy is harmed accidentally, apologize must be given by the offender and the offended must then reply with a course of action. This can be anything from "forget it, get out of my sight" to reporting them to the fairy council. It all lands on how forgiving the fairy is. Considering he's a dark fairy, Kara started to get apprehensive about how forgiving he was. She really didn't want to go before the fairy council.

Void fell to the ground, landing halfway on Frost. He growled when he realized who'd knocked him over. "What's the big idea? Don't you know how to fly?" Once he got up and dusted off his cloak, he glared at the girl. Frost rose from the ground gracefully, but looked at the little wind fairy with a icy stare. "I don't think she does brother." He looked her up and down for a moment. "You really should be careful who you apologize to." The new laws were you had to apologize and make recompense, yes, it was true. The royalty could be cruel sometimes. The olden laws said that when someone apologized to another, that person was under that person's control for as long as they wanted them. Void got a dark look on his face. "Should I keep her?" Frost couldn't help but smirk. "I don't think she could do what you'd want, bro." Void looked at her, making a circle around her. "Well, I don't know...maybe she could."

Frost walked up to his brother and whispered in his ear. Void's lips turned into a cruel smile as he looked at the fairy. He said nothing as Frost looked at the girl. "You know the old laws are still in effect, right?"

Kara's eyes widened with fear when she heard the fairy's question to his... brother, was it? What, she was just going to be a slave!? Great... just great... that'd certainly teach her never to fly without looking again... then again... it might just teach her never to fly again. She stood dignified and shy, her eyes fixated on a very interesting spot on the ground as the offended circled her. What could he possibly be referring to? She hoped it was nothing horrible. They're Dark fairies, they light to hurt humans, she'd rather help or learn from them. Did they want her to hurt a human? Or... something worse? Did they want to hurt her? Sex Slaves were illegal, but the law of offense always came first. They were completely legal if that was what the offended wanted. Hopefully it wasn't anything that bad.

All of her instincts screamed at her to run, but she couldn't until her punishment had been decided. Her punishment would be very severe if she ran. She be taken to the grand council as a lawbreaker. Prison would be her punishment if they were feeling merciful. It was a severe law, but it was imperative. With the two races living side by side, under the same laws, this law had to be set up to prevent a civil war from breaking out.

Frost looked at her a little impatient now. "I asked you a question, fairy." His voice was that of command. It was plain he was in command of some sort of organized unit. He was in charge and wasn't used to being ignored when he asked a direct question. "Any time today, Fairy." He didn't know her name, but it wasn't like he really cared. Void chuckled softly. "I think we scared the poor little wind fairy, Frost." Frost sighed and shook his head. "I can understand why she would be. You probably made her think you were gonna make her your sex slave." He chuckled darkly.

Kara swallowed her nerves, but still kept her eyes to the ground. Well, at least according to what the one fairy said, the thing about being a sex slave is NOT true, which is very good. Of course, now Kara just had to wonder what it was she was supposed to do. Deciding that the fairy (Frost?) would rather have a verbal answer, and a strong one at that, Kara gathered up every single nerve she had. She was no wimp. She didn't even begin to be scared until the Fairies seemed intent on doing her harm. The law didn't require her to never look at the offended, so that was just what she did.

She snapped her head up and locked eyes with Frost(?). "Yes, I am aware. My grandfather was on the council when he was younger, so I grew up knowing every single law in the fairydom. Seeing as how you asked me that, I will go ahead and assume that you wish to go that route. Very well, I beg mercy for you to tell me what it is I am required to do" she answered, her voice cool and composed. Inside, her heart was pounding, but the braver and calmer she acted, the more she really felt it, so her heart rate was gradually going down.

Sigh an exasperated sigh, Kara rolled her eyes "Well, we certainly wouldn't want you to think up an inadequate punishment. I probably broke your nail... Sorry, pardon my insolence, I was out of line. Still, lead on, I have no choice but to follow, don't I?" she pointed out, waiting for one of them to move. Lovely. Today was just lovely.

Frost rose an eyebrow and looked at his brother. "This one's got attitude." Void shrugged slightly. "I don't like snotty girls." Froze chuckled. "No, only ones that will follow your every command, right?" Frost started off down the road once more and Void went with him, still seemingly disinterested in the girl. Frost knew she would follow them, because she was a good little fairy.

Being a wind fairy, Kara just couldn't stand walking, so she contented herself to float along, a bored look on her face. Right... they expected her to do their bidding? Fat... oh wait... she was under their command until they let her go. Wait a minute!! She only had to do that if it fell under her punishment. If she was forced to clean their home night and day, then if they gave her a cooking assignment, she wasn't obligated by the law to comply! Ha! She loved her grandfather, and her father for that matter. After all, her father was a lawyer and always liked to point out loopholes in laws. She did have to wonder where they were going, though.

Frost glanced back at her, he could see her mind working. He'd thought this all the way through. It was pointless in her trying to see a way out. It was sort of sad to watch her try. Its not like he was going to make her do anything toooo bad. He grinned to himself, then looked at Void. "What would you like to eat tonight, brother?" Void thought and shrugged. "I haven't had pixie heart in awhile." Frost laughed. "Alright, brother. You shall have your pixie heart." Frost turned on the spot. "I have figured out your punishment. Would you like to hear?"

As Kara floated reluctantly behind the two wonderful fairies, she tried not to listen to their conversation. They were talking about dinner or something. Ewww!!! Pixie Heart!? They're heartless!! Wait a minute... she knew what she was going to have to do before Frost said anything. She just couldn't! Pixies were regarded as less than fairies. There was a colony of them just outside of the city, and they were always being picked on. It wasn't just dark fairies, either! There simply wasn't enough fairies that cared about them to realize that they were just another form of fairy!! She was one of those that cared for them! She... she couldn't! Even if she just stole one from the donation hospital--which was struggling for donations--that's one pixie that wouldn't survive!!! Oh! She simply couldn't! Swallowing hard, she forced the words out of her mouth. "Yes... yes please. I am... I am eager to reconcile my mistake" she managed to squeak out. Oh...... this was going to be horrible!!! She was under the rule of heartless monsters!

Frost looked at her oddly. "What's with you? Its like you think I'm going to ask you something terrible." He shrugged and looked at his brother, then back at her. "I'd like you to collect a live pixie for us. Trick it into coming here." He stood there thinking for a moment, then chuckled. "After that, you're off the hook."

Kara stared at Frost in horror. Of course what he asked is terrible! No... it's disastrous!! The pixies loved her, they trusted her! It wouldn't be hard at all to get one to come into the city! She... she couldn't subject the poor dear... what if Kimi... or Lilly... or ROSE!?! Oh no... Sweet Pea... Sweet Pea followed her everywhere! She was still a child! Practically a babe! She couldn't... not even the law could make her do this.

Kara's wings stopped flapping and she dropped to the ground like a rock. Almost immediately she bowed before the two fairies. Tears were streaming down her face "Please... I'll do anything... please don't make me responsible for the demise of a pixie... please, I beg of you. I'll do anything and I won't complain. Just please... please don't make me do this" she sobbed. She wouldn't dare clutch Frost's leg, because that'd likely make him angry enough to force her to do the monstrosity of a task that he was demanding of her.

She didn't have the energy to look up. At least she was in the city. Pixies were not allowed in the city by themselves, they had to have a fairy with them. Usually that meant that they were being led to their death, but every now and then, the request is granted to have a pixie receive treatment at the hospital in the city. The good part about that, was that Sweet Pea wouldn't show up in search of her. Young pixie hearts are especially desired. They're a delicacy and sold at a high price. THe treatment of pixies was one of the few things both light and dark fairies agreed on!

Kara swallowed her tears and looked up at the other Fairy, the one she'd flown into. Was... was this all a set up? She wiped her tears away and nodded "I swear, I'll do whatever you ask, just please don't make me do anything to the pixies" was her miserable reply. She didn't really have the right to make them agree to her condition, so she just appealed to mercy. What had she gotten herself into?

Kara gathered her strength and stood up so she could follow them. She hung her head as she walked. She hardly had any energy. Alright... well... her punishment was to do whatever they wished; that didn't mean she couldn't ask where they were going. She could be submissive, but she still had a fierce attitude when need be. "So... would you mind telling me where we're going? Or is that being too presumptuous?" she asked.

Alright... so she was having an attitude, but really, could you blame her!? She planned on having that attitude until they ordered her to bite her tongue. They were horrible! She had a hard time getting along with any pixie-haters, but she absolutely loathed those that ate their hearts! Forget hot! Their appearance may be beautiful, but their hearts were the blackest of black. She'd never seen an uglier heart in her LIFE. Of course... she spends her time with the pixie charity group, but there were still a lot of fairies involved in that that were just as wonderful. Aden... he was wonderful... too bad he was getting married in a week.

Kara sighed at her thoughts; she tried to get rid of them, but they just wouldn't leave. Aden's heart was a heart of gold, its luster was even more superb when compared with the hearts of these two villains! A tear rolled down her cheek as the reality of her situation sank in.

Kara glared at Frost. Yeah, she wasn't buying it. She crossed her arms and looked away "I'm Kara, and yes... my image of you changed drastically with that. In case you didn't know, I happen to be one of the biggest supporters of pixies! Before I thought you were annoying, now I just think you have the blackest of hearts! So yes, my opinion has shown me to your true colors. Ruse or not, anyone that cared wouldn't joke about that" she answered. She really didn't like this guy.

Frost looked at her for a moment, listening to her. He sighed and shook his head. "Whatever. I'm not going to try and change your mind about it." Void came back out and handed Frost a small black box with a red ribbon tied around it. Frost looked at it oddly. "What's with the bow?" Void chuckled. "Its a 'gift' isn't it?"

Kara eyed the small black box suspiciously. Why would void give his brother a gift? Something was up... she could almost feel like the contents of that box were for her. She sat down on a nearby rock, tired of standing the whole time. She might as well be semi-comfortable while she waited for the next horror that these two fairies were going to inflict upon her. At least Frost had enough sense not to argue about her opinion of him. The only way that would change would be if he actions disproved her opinion. At this point, he might have to have a golden heart--a heart like... Aden--to change her mind. OH! Curse Selena! Because of her, Aden would be married in a week! No... Kara could never curse Selena. Selena's a good girl. But the fact that Aden met Selena after he met Kara didn't help her opinion of his fiancee.

Frost chuckled softly. "I guess this will do." He opened his cloak and slid it into a pocket. Upon closing the cloak, it looked as if the box had disappeared. There was no mound or outline of it through the cloak and it didn't stick out on him either. Frost turned to Kara and smiled. "We've one more stop before we go to our humble abode."
