Acobjum 08-06-2011 03:08 AM

Good poem my friend
Finally there is response
To my little thread.

diaveborn 08-06-2011 03:54 AM

I was looking through
and saw this thread was lonely
that's why I stopped in

:)

Acobjum 08-06-2011 03:59 AM

Thanks for stopping in.
Been hopping around the threads
Collecting the pies.

diaveborn 08-06-2011 04:10 AM

Pies, pies
For me and for you
So many pies!
What shall we do?
Too many to eat
Let's throw them around
With lots of fun had
For every pie that we've found

[Pokered Face] 08-06-2011 04:13 AM

( Maybe a tanka might be fun to write. )

I am enjoying,
the event thus far. It is
really improving
my current, sorry post count.
I wish for many more posts.
I will strive to post.

TanaChan 08-06-2011 04:17 AM

Tana was sad,
but now she's not.
her new broadband stick
finally works like a joy

XD

Acobjum 08-06-2011 04:20 AM

Go and post
like a ghost.
I'm your host
with the most
Raise a toast

[Pokered Face] 08-06-2011 04:22 AM

Summer Fun,
is nearly Done.
School has almost begun.
Time to run,

to be not be tardy.
Or miss a party.

diaveborn 08-06-2011 04:23 AM

I've never heard of
a tanka but I really
like face's avi

TanaChan 08-06-2011 04:23 AM

There once was an Avi name Tana
who liked to pop into threads
some would think to say hi

but those would be wrong
oh dear
This pixilated type person
like to pop in for fun
She rawrs like a dinosaur
and then runs

Acobjum 08-06-2011 04:32 AM

The walking dog
and the sleeping frog
on the green log
inside the bog
outside the fog
with a rusted cog.

Limericks are fun to write and rhyme.
They are short, sweet and sublime.
I love to write this form of poetry.
It's quite addicting, oh woe is me.
I think when I post here, I will write a limerick every time.
XD

Sizzling flavors linger in cooling leftovers
I wait for the sherbet to make
Strawberry, kiwi, lemon, and lime
spin in chilly circles.
Last bite of day-old China
Last sip of slightly-above-room-temperature water
from a green, green, GREEN cup...
My taste buds step across my tongue,
edge out to the tip, like a swimmer on a diving board,
and plunge into cold, refreshing, sweet, tangy
sherbet.
A perfect bite of summer.

Macon is quite taken with the bacon if I'm not mistaken.

Red to Dead

With roses red,
and violets blue,
I hear this poem,
said to you.
I wish to me,
that it was said,
For i am lost,
and left for dead.
So many times,
That i have dread,
That you would leave me,
Alone and dead.
You can't compare,
my feelings said,
To the thought,
Of being dead.

sorry if it is a little morbid.....i really never meant to write this way.....

Algas Soleado 08-07-2011 09:59 PM

Summer's heat
sizzles, cracks, pops.
In a place that was once lush with green
and humid as the sea,
is a drought so deep
we're losing our trees.

Fires engulf acres of land;
Houses, agriculture, crops
wither, blaze, and die.
Clouds tease but don't release
little drops of heavenly relief
but sparingly
as if to say,
"Wouldn't this be nice?"

Tropical storms bless the edges of our state
But the heart still shrivels.
Sprinklers and ice cream cones spare the people
but some lands are too big to water,
some livestock are too numerous to shade.
And what of them?
Will we lose our pride?

Flowers still bloom,
watered by sympathetic humans.
Even yet, some adapted to the heat.
Temperatures aren't necessarily record breaking,
but still 102 in the shade.
The worst is that the heat is never ending,
only down to 86 at night,
never a break in the day.

Forgive me if I bring a bit of sadness,
I promise my well of joy has not run dry
so I lift a prayer of hope for my people
that His mercy reigns down from the sky.

Ok, let's improvise!

Planning for an epic poem...

The title works,
Watching Futurama
Ruins the rest.

You can call this abstract.

@Algas: Woah, look who's getting started! :D

Algas Soleado 08-07-2011 10:18 PM

Thanks. ^-^ I'm not even a poet. That is to say I don't write that often and I don't really try to write. I don't like patterns all that much, I just break when I feel it's right. It helps that I like English. :)

Isendor 08-07-2011 10:29 PM

I'm not a native myself, but English poem sounded like an interesting challenge. Didn't come up with anything proper, tho.
Mhh, I actually dug up one Finnish poem. I like it because it has many meanings. Let's see if I can translate it well enough to cherish the message...

I was a quiet child
like cherries
have a pit inside them.

- Jyrki Pellinen (1983)

Does anyone get any of the meanings? :D

hummy 08-07-2011 10:35 PM

i don't, sorry.
do you mean 'pit' instead of 'rock' maybe?
but then i still don't get it ;[

Isendor 08-07-2011 10:40 PM

Eh, sorry, a pit it is! :D I'll edit it. Never needed the word before, but now I know more. I'll explain soon.

Acobjum 08-08-2011 03:41 AM

On my finger
is a ringer
makes a pinger
with a winger
so don't linger
for the zinger.

Ayreiya 08-08-2011 11:38 AM

Sitting Quietly by the window,
watching as the rain falls,
as if the heavens are crying.
The horror outside the window,
is a numbing sight,
so much pain and suffering.
The weeping hearts of loved ones left,
touch the souls of loved ones lost,
and send them to the place beyond.
