How Lazy Can We Get?
Lately I've been seeing a lot of commercials around for things like "eyeshadow tattoos" and "water-less shampoo." Seriously. Put on real eyeshadow, and try taking a shower!
What are some lazy inventions/things you see people do just to save five seconds? |
Holy angel! I have never heard any of those and that is quite lazy. I mean, there is a solution for all of those and yet nobody wants to actually do it. ;--; I haven't heard of any lazy invention. I don't have the television nor do I really search up for lazy invention. XD Man, I wish I had one because the two you mention are just so...ridiculous.
|
It's like the women who have their lips permanently lined with a real tattoo to avoid lining their lips when they put on lipstick. It's both trashy looking, and lazy.
I just catch this stuff out of the corner of my eye on television sometimes. Lol. |
*laughs* Wow...I had not heard of eyeshadow tattoos before! I don't...think I would ever want that permanent. O_o;
Honestly, the waterless shampoo is useful for some of us who have really lousy jobs. *raises hand* All summer long, I was stuck living and working in a tent with no running water, fickle electricity, and no internet or cell phone coverage. Since I was stuck out there for four to five days straight, that could have been useful. I remembered people using a cheap version of that back in training, however, and they complained how sticky it was, so I avoided the commercial versions. I just opted to lose sleep time to return home to shower when I wasn't on overnight duty. |
Yeah. If I was desperate I would do the water-less shampoo just to help with my greasy hair.
|
I know someone with those tattoos
The funny thing is, she still puts on makeup on top of it. Epic waist of money! XD Also, here might be one, electric scissors |
Dry shampoo isn't for laziness. I for one, don't wash my hair everyday because my hair is extremely dry and curly. Water just makes it dryer. :P So thus, with dry shampoo you can freshen up your scalp without drying the hair out. It's not usually meant to go all over the hair.
But yes, I'm getting tired of all these inventions that are just making people so much lazier. Though, some things are helpful when your life is so busy that you don't have the time. |
On the note of electric scissors: electric staplers terrify me. :ninja:
|
I tried dry shampoo once, it sucked.
I don't know if it was just my hair was too dirty for it, or too long, but all I got were these oily little white bits that wouldn't come out even with brushing. Thus I had to spend longer than usual in the shower making sure the dry shampoo washes out with regular shampoo. I have long hair, so it is a little annoying when the hair closer to the scalp is dirty, but the rest is perfectly fine, and it take 40min to shampoo/condition/blow dry, so I can see how dry shampoo might help. But, never trying it again OTL |
My hair is the same way. The second the oils reach the ends of my hair like they should after washing, the scalp is so oily that it makes it itchy. >.>
|
yick exactly.
and I don't want to wash it too often 'cause it takes up too much time, but if I don't then it's too dirty. oh choices choices. |
The ab belt: for people who want to exercise but are repulsed by the thought of actually having to move. Congratulations on your money well wasted.
|
I actually saw one of those a while ago xD
|
One thing that I am certain every one of us here is guilty of using and that we all take for granted.
A remote control. Yup, it was made to save people five seconds so they didn't have to walk to the television to change the volume or channel or to turn it off or on. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it does fit into this category quite nicely. |
Ahahahaha! So true.
|
I have a remote control sitting right in front of me actually. I find it more useful then being lazy -- the TV's I have don't have a 'channel return' button on them. So if I had two shows I'm watching and both have at least twenty-odd channels between them? Yea, I'm not going to push a button to go between each station.
How about online stores, like amazon.com? Now people can buy stuff online without having to get up and get dressed. For somethings that are really hard to find I can see having online stores, but for every day clothing and DVD's? >.< And don't get me started on the Kindle/Nook. |
Thing is with Amazon, if you cant find it in a store, then you can go there, and usually find it(and most likely for cheaper).
One thing Ive noticed, from working in a kitchen, is things like the garlic peeler that is advertised on TV so often. Sure, garlic isnt the most fun thing to peel, but really? Something you squeeze to get the garlic peeled? Just give me a cutting board, a knife with a fairly large flat side, and I will peel you some garlic fast. |

I don't know if people would consider it lazy, but I'm not a big fan of the "starting your car with your iphone" stuff. Is it really too much to just put the key into the ignition and turn it?

e-readers, oh brother do I hate the idea of those. I love books, they are one thing I want technology to leave alone, I hope they die off. As for online stores, they can actually be the only option for some, usually older, vintage items. The Gameshark for gameboy color for example. Only once have I seen one in a store, a K-mart which was removed several years ago and replaced with a Khol's. So when I killed it, Amazon had been my only source of it. Overall though I tend to only use online purchasing for items I am unable to find in a store unless I am pre-ordering a DVD. Or Amazon can also have some great deals. |
I've never heard of these inventions.
I wouldn't ever tattoo makeup on, and I've never been particularly kind-of-opinion of those who do get it. But to each their own on that account. As to the waterless shampoo, that could be great. Especially if you live in a location where water is very scarce or limited in use, or even out camping for weeks at a time (which people do often here). I don't think that had much to do with laziness so much as convenience. I love a shower, don't get me wrong. I don't think you can substitute anything for a hot shower. |
Yeah....I've seen those eyeshadow tattoos while shopping. I can understand where the cheetah print ones might be handy for people who haven't mastered the effect....but the color gradients? That's just pure laziness. It's not really that hard, nor does it take hours, to blend a few colors together on your eyelid. Next they'll be coming out with eyeliner tattoos for people that are too lazy to learn how to do flicks or cat eyes.
I think the Kindle is worthless. I wanted one when they first came out so I could save on shelf space, as I have a small home. But....the books aren't that much cheaper, and I rather enjoy having my collections nicely displayed. Not only that, but for what I'd spend on a kindle, my husband can BUILD me about 5 or 6 REALLY nice bookshelves. Amazon, however, I find extremely useful. I find items on there that I can't find anywhere else. I'll shop around several stores to see if I can buy it from a shelf, and if I can't, I'll resort to online. Not only that, but since I'm a Swagbucks member, I get free Amazon.com giftcards. Their music is generally cheaper too. I'm a tightwad. I purchased The Devil Wears Prada's Zombie EP at Best Buy for $9. I got on Amazon a few days later to look at my recommendations and Amazon had the same thing for $4.95. While shopping online may not save me time, it definitely saves me money. I also find the Swiffer Mop to be a lazy invention. Is it really that hard to fill a bucket with water or rinse the mop after working in small sections? I don't think so. |
Argh! Kindle! I cant stand those things. I understand why people would want them, but there's really no substitute for holding a book in your hand.
|
Yea, I understand going online for some things that can't be found in stores [out of print books, parts to certain items that can't be found elsewhere, etc] but for everyday items like jeans, food, and TV's? I much rather go to a normal store to make sure everything is okay with them.
The concept for the Kindle is good and all, but here's where I have problems with it. If I want to go to the beach and read, I can't really take it because not only would sand get into it but someone might steal it. Kindles have dropped in price but it's still well over $100 for one and that's a very expensive gadget, not to mention having to replace it should something happen. And having to plug it in for recharge? I'd be lucky to remember to charge the thing! I much rather have a paper book in my hand, costs just the same. |
Waterless shampoo is not being lazy. There are people who, for medical reasons can not shower on a daily basis and it helps keep them clean. They use it in hospitals for patients who have wounds that can not get wet and stuff like that. Plus, you can use it when camping if there is no running water. I've used it for things like that and it's a life saver. You just have to be careful what brands used because some of them just make hair gross.
They already have eyeliner tattoos. XD My grandpa's girlfriend has some cat eye style liner tattoos. As for lazy inventions, that thing that automatically mixed chocolate milk. I think it's called the "Moo Mixer" or something like that. The motorized ice cream cone is up there as well. I mean, seriously...who thinks of crap like that? Also, escalators. Especially if there's steps next to them. |
