Nuzlocke Challenge
Anyone ever tried it before? How did it go? Any stories to share, tales of glory or heartbreak?
For everyone who doesn't have a clue as to what I'm talking about, it's a pokémon user induced set of rules that can be applied to any pokémon game. The two main one are these: You may only capture the first pokémon you encounter in each area, and, if a pokémon faints it is considered "dead" and must be released into the wild. There are a number of other variant rules to make it easier or harder accordingly. Nuzlocke Comics for more info and background. |
While I've heard of it, I haven't actually done it.
It sounds insanely hard |
I don't have the heart to release Pokemon. That's why I trade extra hatched eggs for easy to get ones I don't have on the GTS.

Yeah it is definitely tougher playing through this way. The beginning is probably the hardest though. Once you establish a good team you'll start running into less problems, so long as you don't overextend your pokémon. Oh, and Poison and Self-Destruct are pretty brutal.
The whole concept of the rules builds a stronger bond with the pokémon, so yeah it is a real bummer. The first pokémon I lost in my Fire Red run was my Mankey, Tiny, because I went the nickname all pokémon route. He was pretty much the team all-star, so it really sucked. GARYOAK took out my starter, too. If I could put his head on a stick the deed would already be done. |
