Rain pattered against the castle windows, echoing through the hallways and silent rooms. The only thing Jareth could hear was his own breathing, the sound of the pages he turned of the book he was reading, the pattering of the rain, and the snoring of the goblins in their keep.
The silence was all too much anymore. It gave him headaches and random frustration. He needed something, anything. He needed excitement. So, bored and not even close to tired being that it was in the middle of the night, he thought of something. Changing in his barn owl form, he flew over to the Aboveground to watch the humans there. A storm was brewing clearly in the foreground as Jareth seeked a good place to perch. When he found a girl, dressed in a medieval costume, he circled slightly and soon perched on a nearby tree. What is this about? he asked himself as he looked more closely. His heart stopped. It was Sarah. The girl he had fallen in love with a few years back when he had visited this world. He did not expect to see her here. She has grown up from the last time he had seen her -- in a good way. She was even more beautiful. The cheeks of his owl form slid up to a soft smile. So beautiful... |
Sarah felt a rain drop fall lightly on her forehead and then slide down her high rose colored cheek bones. She looked up at the gray colored sky and ignored the storm that was starting as she continued to recite her lines from the Labyrinth book she had been reading.
She herd her mother call her name with annoyance and frustration. Sarah shaped the book shut as she was about to say her final line and turned in the direction from which she had herd her mother's voice. " Why must she always call me when I am about to finish my lines ...." Sarah wondered if she should go deeper into the dark lonely woods where she would be unable to hear her mother voice or if she should go home and see what was the matter. Sarah took and couple steps towards the woods..suddenly she herd her mother again and turned towards the direction of the house just as the rain began to pour she was running her feet hitting the grass with speed and force she looked beautiful funning in the rain she looked like she was in the scene of a beautiful painting as her dress flowed in the air as she ran her hair now loose and wet. Soon enough she was at her porch pushing the screen door open letting her dog who had been with her go in first. |
The white owl cringed under the cold drops of the rain. Jareth lunged forward and spread forth his wings. He needed to watch more of Sarah. He needed to see more of her. He flapped his wings in the direction of Sarah.
When he came to her house, he watched as she hurried inside. Sensing where her room was, he flew to the other side of the house and found the perfect tree to perch on. When he did perch on it, he folded his wings and looked intently into her room. The tree's leaves shielded the white owl perfectly from the rain, which continued to grow rapidly into a fast-pace rain, thunder rumbling just in time with the light flashing. It was a bit hard to see through all of the rain. She had been reciting lines from his book. The book he had written so many years ago when he inhabited this place in disguise as a human. He wrote the book about himself and his dream wife. And that person could very much well be Sarah. |
Sarah walked in dripping wet and saw her mother's not so happy face looking back at her. " You are late. All I ask you is to watch your little brother...that is all.....while your father and I go out. " She state as she looked at sarah. Sarah balled her fist as she spoke back. " You guys go out every weekend....what if I have plans....you never ask me anymore" She stated as she marched up the stairs. Her mother looked at her " You should date and fall in love like other girls your age do...." She stated. This made sarah even more upset.
She ran to her room and slammed the door shut as she threw herself onto her bed. She buried her face into her pillow....." I can't state......The Goblin King is madly in love with me...because I am his perfect bride....." She stated as she held the book over her heart. She was now turned around looking at the ceiling as she herd the rain fall out side her window. She soon herd her younger brother begin to cry. She gout up unwillingly to see what was wrong. |
Jareth smirked to himself as he heard What Sarah had said. When she left the room, he circled around and perched on a try by the nursery's window. Curtains were in the way, making it unable for Jareth to see in. But he at least had the sense of bionic hearing.

Sarah walked into the room where the child was crying. " DO not cry ....please " se stated as she dug her finger into her long brown hair which all rested on her head now. The chid continued to cry face not red and sad.... " Oh all right" She stated as she placed the child in her arms. " I will ask him to take you far away from here......matter of fact I will ask him to take us both far from here....far away from our mother whom will not let me be happy....." She stated as she looked into the mirror with child in hand. " But what are those words......."

Jareth's claws dug into the bark of the tree. He felt restless. He wanted her to say the words. It's easy. All you have to say is "I wish the goblins would come and take you away right now," thought Jareth as he fought against the urge to just use his powers to open up the window and enter inside so he could see.

Sarah eyes got wide as if she had herd the Goblin king say the words. She poked at the crying child and then at the mirror " Toby please I am warning you....I will say the words I swear it" She stated as she looked at him with a cautious look in her eyes. " Goblin...king .....Goblin King..Will you have me suffer at the hands of this child....will you have me be a slave here...me..your chosen bride?" She stated as she looked at the baby. " Please take this child away from me........." She stated as she put in the crib " Right.......now"

And with that, goblins appeared, hidden in the room as Toby vanished from the hands of Sarah. Jareth leaped from the tree branch and used his powers to open up the windows wide as he flew in. Soon enough, he landed on the floor, transfiguring back to his human form as he looked at Sarah with an evil grin. He had his hands on his hips and the cold wind from the storm blowing through his Goblin hair. "So nice to see you, Sarah," spoke Jareth.

Sarah looked at her empty hands and almost fainted. "It can't be !" She stated as she slowly turned around to face Jareth " Who are you..?" She stated as she looked at him and then remember her final words. " No...you can't be ....its impossible...you are.....make believe " She stated as she looked at him in awe. He was handsome and strong he looked older then her by a good bit. She could nt believe what was happening it all seemed to be a dream.

Jareth darkly chuckled to himself at what Sarah was saying. He took a step forward and relaxed his hands to his side. "Make believe, am I?" he asked in a daring voice as he relaxed his features. "Then what am I doing standing here before you? It is I, Jareth, the Goblin King," he said as he bowed low respectfully.

"The Goblin king....." She stated as her eyes got wide. " Please my brother I beg of you.....please!....." She said as her eyes got filled with tears and a look of disappear. " I will give you anything you want please....My brother is all I want back....I will do anything you ask of me...please" She stated as she stepped closer....scared but determined.

"Oh, you'll do anything, will you?" asked Jareth as he raised his eyebrows. She said she would do anything and yet nothing would come to mind...unless she would be his prisoner. It had been such a long time since he had ruled over anyone. He smirked at the thought.
Soon, he began to circle her, thinking over what would be suitable for Sarah's situation. "Well...I have a few choices for you. You could either...get your brother back and come be my prisoner...or you can get your brother back and be erased from your world forever to live in my world," said Jareth, putting his fingers to his chin in a thoughtful way. |
Sarah looked at him......" a Prisoner...me why what crimes have I committed towards you how have I harmed you?" She state as she looked at him scared and heart broken. She then thought about what he had said about being Erased from her world to live in his. " What will I do living with you there....my family is here their is nothing for me there nothing...?" she stated as she looked at him in fear " Please why can't you just let me take my words back...you know that I didn't mean them..."

Jareth had sighed, notifying Sarah's brokenness. He made sure his face showed no sign of his feelings. "Sarah, to take back your words would be something so exhausting and powerful. It would rid me of half of my strength for years to come," he explained as he lazily leaned against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest. "Therefor, it would come with a price," he said, trying to make Sarah understand. |
" A price....I do not wish to be your slave or anyone else's ......" She stated as she looked at him lean against the wall as if he had been in her home before....."you ....cant do this he is my brother....Do you not have a heart..." She asked him as she looked into his eyes...he had beautiful eyes ..They seemed to withhold a lot ...what did this dark king hold within himself within his heart....?
" Please have putty for me...I have done nothing wrong to you.." |
Jareth sighed, frusterated. He indeed had a heart, but he didn't allow it to show in fear of him seeming weak. She straightened up and stepped close to Sarah, his mismatched eyes burning into hers. "Very well then. I'll give you a new option. You have one day to win your baby brother back...before he becomes like me...forever," said Jareth. He really didn't want to challenge Sarah against himself, but it seemed to be the only thing he could do. His heart was torn and ripped into tiny pieces with each saddening look Jareth saw in Sarah's face.

A glimmer of hope grew in her eyes. " What if I don't reach him in time....you will harm him....?" She asked worried again Was the king capable of harming a child ..an innocent child. She looked into his eyes trying to look into his soul if he had one and see truly what type of a man he was. " Please I beg you do not harm him...." She stated as she looked scared and worried. " If you plan on killing him in the end I want you to kill me instead ...he is my brother and means everything to my parents and to me even though i do not always get along with him..."

Jareth fought against the feelings but soon found himself defeated. He took a step closer and grabbed her wrists to pull her closer to him as a signal that she needed to calm down. "It is highly against my vows for any harm unless threatened," he explained, passion of his ruling of his world glimmering in his eyes.
He soon let her go gently as he turned around and pointed out the window, which was now a picture of the Labyrinth and the castle in the far-back. "Your baby brother is there. Find him in time and you and your baby brother will be free to live as if this reckless incident had never happened. And if you don't get him in time, I keep your brother as my heir to the throne and I keep you for whatever I will choose. Might be villager, might be servant...who knows. But beware, Sarah. I am being as merciful as I can, I assure you." |
She looked out of what once washer front yard now being the Labyrinth. " It dent look that hard ....I will have my brother back in no time...." She stated as she began to walk threw the picture. She looked back her parents room was gone and the outline of the window was as well. She was no longer home she was no longer in her safe room where she would dream of fairytales. She was here in the Labyrinth trying o save her brother...and take him home as everything should be as it was before she got into this mess.

When Sarah had walked into the picture, that was really a portal, Jareth followed her. They were now just on a hill outside the walls of the labyrinth. Jareth walked up behind Sarah and put his lips close to her hear. "You take too many things for granted, Sarah," he whispered. He then took a step back from her and walked around to face her. "You have thirteen hours to fight your way through the labyrinth...before your baby brother is mine forever," Jareth said.
And with a dark and evil chuckle he disappeared into thin air. |
Sarah tried to stay as positive as she could during the whole registering everything from being at home one moment and into a fantasy world the next. She thought she was handling it well.....so far.
Sara felt a hot and cold chill go down her spine once she felt Jareth get close to her and whisper into her ear. She felt her face get red she had no idea what was going on she never normally acted like this so weak in the knees. Once Jareth had left she got her self together and began to walk down the path which lead to the start of the Labyrinth. She tried feel the wall of the Labyrinth but it was no use she couldn't find an opening...that was when she saw an elf.... |
When Jareth had returned home, he had called forth a few goblins. He showed them to a large crystal ball sitting in the middle of the throne room. There, he presented a view of Sarah, what she was doing right now. "Keep an eye on her. If anything happens, wake me up," ordered Jareth as he headed up the spiral set of stairs and into his large room. He changed into simple breeches and plopped onto his big comfy bed.
He sighed as the sun was beginning to rise. He just needed some sleep. Without pulling the comforter up and over him, he just laid there, an arm resting over his forehead with his other arm resting on his stomach. Before he knew it, sleep took over him. ~ ~ ~ ~ Hoggle froze. He felt eyes on him. He turned around and stared angrily up at the girl. The girl they were all talking about. Jareth had told the goblins she was the princess of the aboveground. "What are you looking at!?" he rudely asked. |
