Who Is your Favourite Manga Artist?
I recently read Peach Pitt( Shugo Chara, Rozen Maiden, DearS and Zombie Loan)
And Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) But I want to hear what your guys think are your favorite manga artists. Anime works too though most animes started from Manga. And what do you value most in a manga? Graphics or Story? |
I'm not sure who my favorite manga artist is yet.
I value both graphics and story in a manga equally. What good is art if the story sucks? What good is the story if the art sucks? It needs to have a good balance. |
Yes True, What is your Favourite anime/manga then?
|
My favorite manga is Yugioh, for it's artwork, even if the story gets weird at times. But I haven't picked up a YGO book in years, as there's no bookstore a few miles from me.
My favorite anime(s): a tie between Yugioh Zexal (the new one in Japan), and Suite Precure (also airing now in Japan). Classic favorites are Voltron, Robotech (Original series which had books), Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, and the new Thundercats (does it count as anime?)... |
OOH! I'm not a big fan of Precure because its too much like Shugo Chara exept without the guardian characters.I remember watching Sailor Moon when I was a little girl:) Really Awesome! Yugioh got killed by the boys in my school that go around trading cards but the art is great!I go to anime for the Humor and Effects:)

Lately I've been really enjoying Naoki Urasawa's work, his art style is unique and he makes a great effort to make sure all the characters look different which I really like. Also the stories he writes are quite clever. So far I've read Pluto, which is based on on a part of the Astro Boy story by Osamu Tezuka, and I'm reading Monster and 20th Century Boys.
|
Great!I should try those soon. I hate it when all character seem the same its so annoying cause i keep forgetting which one is which. I also love it when all of the character have their own personality and aura. It makes it a lot more interesting. I also love character catchphrases.
|
Motomi Kyousuke is mine~! Ever since Beast Master I've been absolutely addiiccttedd.
And now I'm reading Dengenki Daisy... I admire her work so muuchh. <3 Especially the malleess. >_< -cough- I prioritize story, however I need at least 25% from scanlations and artwork. You wouldn't believe how many mangas/manwhas I've read that have been RUINED for me due to HORRIBLE scanlation groups! :( Ah, I never really heard Suite Precure... BAH. I'm not much into the scene now-a-days, so I don't keep up with the most popular and new. :'u Shugo Chara was just love back when I was like 12, I would stalk veoh for new releases of episodes and stalk onemanga for new chapters. x'D Ahh, I miss onemanga. :c I keep being told 20th Century Boys is outstanding in story, however I've never picked it up. Heh. I agree Cuddly, I hate it when the characters are the same, that or they're mary-sues/gary-stus! UGH. Ruins everything, I sort of like Kaichou wa Maid-sama, especially a few of the supporting characters, but the mary-sue and gary-stu were the leads. So I couldn't stand to read anymore... XP |
Beast master?WOW sounds really interesting, I should try it. Too bad Fairy Tail is still ongoing, I go on the computer first thing Saturday morning to watch it. I absolutely refuse to watch another anime when this one isn't finished yet. So right now I'm pretty behind.
|
I really like Naruto, although i dont know who the author is at the moment. I also read Bleach and watch Yugioh on saturdays. I have also read Animal Academy, Black Butler/KUROSHITSUJI (which wasn't one of my favorites), Yotsuba, and a little bit of "Soul Eater". I am always open to reading other manga though. If you guys want i would really like it if you could suggest some appropriate manga that a fiction and fairytale lover would like.
Also, if anyone knows anything about a manga called XAnime (are anymore books than the first three?) i would be grateful! Please click: http://dragcave.net/image/DO9Q5.gif |
Cuddly;;
Well, Beast Master's technically only a manga.. ;x However, it's seriously good! :) It's short, too. Only a volume long. It's basically about a boy transferring from over-seas with his father, and he has this feral look about him, however since he saved this girl's cat, when she couldn't, she tries to get to know him better. It's intertwined with animals! :) I absolutely loved it, heh. >w< Clover;; Never read Animal Academy, I'll have to check it out in the least. What genres ya into? I've read a whole lot.. x'D So hopefully I can name a few you'll be able to immerse yourself in. :') XAnime? Oh, a Clamp creation. ;x That's why it's familiar! It's actually just X, not XAnime. x'D (Also called X/1999) Turns out there's either 18 volumes, or 18 chapters. Can't quite tell which! Hope that helps, any? :) All 18 have been translated into English, by the way! So they shouldn't be too hard to find. |
Animal Academy sounds really interesting! There also this one called Alice Academy or Gauken Alice thats not too bad but not to my taste.
I might go try Beast Master then:) If it really is that short. CloverCat; Well there is an Anime/Manga called Fairy Tail like mentioned above in case your interested. I would also suggest Rozen Maiden though the anime is better than the manga but follow different plots. I love Clamp! My favorite so far by them is Tsubasa (Not to be mistaken with tsubaka:)) You might want to check it out. You might also like Pandora Hearts ( the manga) |
Oh I watched up to episode 3 I think, of Pandora Hearts. ;x
I don't really finish animes, I enjoy manga better heh. I read up to around chapter 5? I liked it quite a bit haha. Alice Academy! I read some of that, haha! Friends loved it, so they semi-forced me into reading it, however I don't remember much now... ^-^;; Ahh~. |
I think the Peach Pitt animes are better but the Fairy Tail manga is slightly better. I was first introduced to Anime then moven on to Manga.
Oh and i just found out that my school library has a whole room full of manga that they didn't tell us about cause every time I go they shut the door so I thought it was like the printer room or something |
hmm...Favorite creator so far..
Masashi Kishimoto-kun! *creator/Illistrator* I prefer story, or the lesson a Japanese book or animatiion teaches, like Naruto and Naruto Shippuden kinda teaches bever to give up and keep tryin! ^^**sorry for so many misspells...no spell check and bad keyboard*** But i LOVE observing the art to improve my own skills! <3 |
Naruto Fan??:):)
I remember watching that on TV. Almost all mangas and animes have a moral or a lesson, some are just more important than others:) |
Clamp.
Always loved their stories, even though I'm not even a 'love story' fan, Clamp always knows to interest me. I collect their manga's, I read others online but Clamp manga is a musthave for me. I have chobits complete, 1 Angelic Layer manga, Tsubasa till 13, 1 Cardcaptor Sakura manga. |
Usually Sora would say he doesn't have favorites, but he can't help but love Hiromu Arakawa's work.
Sora just loves the art in Fullmetal Alchemist manga.....her art really displays emotions with the character and background and such... |
What is Fullmetal Alchemist about?
I've heard about it a lot on here and other places, It sounds really interesting! I love Clamp Too! Tsubasa is pretty Good I really them all up to 23. The other ones don't really capture my attention as much. The Clamp animes aren't as good to me though. |
FMA's like huge... I don't know much about brotherhood, but
I do know about the first part. FMA starts out with Elric and Alfred's mother who had died and their father sort of neglecting them (this may be a false synopsis, been a while) and so they decide to try to bring their mother back from the dead. Instead, they get screwed over and Al's body is lost, along with Ed's arm and leg. After that, Ed tries to find ways to get Al's body back, but he doesn't quite know how to so he has to go off and gain knowledge, with Al's soul placed into a "robotic" form. skjfas. I HOPE THAT'S CLOSE, ANY PEOPLE WHO RECENTLY READ IT, CORRECT ME. :'D Pfft. It's been forever since I've read or seen anything that's even remotely mainstream. Most animes aren't as good as the mangas, however I quite liked Haruhi Suzumiya as an anime, a lot. ;x T'was cuuteeehnngghh. -shot- |
I'm hopeless for cute things, so most of the Animes/Mangas I like are cute.
http://www.mangafox.com/manga/fairy_...8/c057/21.html LOL I love Gray and Juvia |
Cora doesn't pick manga for the artist, but rather the story.
But I do adore alot of stories by Yue Watase and also Clamp. |
Obata's style really stands out to me. Its very distinct.
|
Ooh! Obata! What mangas has he made?
|
There's something really charming about Moyoco Anno*'s artwork. She's not always spot on with characters, but her choice of things to draw, the details, clothing choices etc. make her stand out to me.
I remember being very defensive a few years back when someone I showed one of her books to called it ugly. x' D * Moyoco Anno author of Sugar Sugar Rune |
