omg grats Cora on the valentine hair pin! that one's still my favorite, i was a few months late joining the site before i got to attend the vday event. it's also very fun to draw :3

That's really good! It takes a bit for someone to really love 3D once they have tried them out and I respect people who do. :D
Personally, I lack the flair and patience for 3D animation. I can do modeling and enjoy it, but when it comes to rigging, I'm hopeless. *laughs*

There are actually many good tutorials for Autodesk Maya and 3DMax I could find. So many people are doing 3D these days that if you have any troubles at all, asking in relevant forums would actually help a lot. I've not heard of lynda.com until now, actually. Interesting.

I'm actually really good with animation, rigging it all depends. I can make reverse feet for walk cycles and add in ways to move hand joints like flays and such but nothing too complicated as far as rigs. I can't do joints for the face aside from eyes and hair. I do most facial animations with blend shapes but I know most people are moving towards using actual joints. I love modeling and sculpting. There's just so many people out there that do it and I've really only had minimal formal training. So it's intimidating for me to try and break into 3d modeling professionally. I really like environment modeling and matte painting most.

I do recommend lynda.com. Its got so many really nice tutorials for people more advanced or people starting from scratch with certain programs. But.... there are plenty of free tutorials out there too that work just as well. Vimeo helps a lot and sometimes even youtube has neat tutorials people have posted.
