Damon’s grin turned feral his fingers itching to wrap around that god like neck of his and choke the very breath from his body. ”You gods better run and hide because I am coming for you all and one by one you will fall and I shall reign victorious. The time of Το τέλος του κόσμου is here” Ares was afraid of him he could almost smell it and that fact let him know that the others feared him as well. ”Better tell Zeus the time of the new king is here” but Ares had already flashed away no doubt to warn the others. He turned to meet the angry gaze of the human. ”Technically I didn’t lie, I did live around your village I lived in the temple, my father Hades does hate me, Just because I don’t admit to every human that I am the god of destruction doesn’t mean I lied. Come on most wouldn’t even believe me anyway so wipe that angry look off your face I never lied” taking her by the arm he flashed them both inside her apartment.
Niamh glared at him. "No, I am not going to wipe this angry look off my face. Because the fact of the matter is I'm furious with you. Everytime I get comfortable in my life, some god beams down and voila instant life wrecker. First it was Apollo and my mother, then it was Ares, and now it's you!" She threw up her arms. "I give up! I'm a disaster magnet." Niamh sat in the chair and glared at the picture of her brother. "Stupid oracle..." She crossed her arms and turned a shoulder to Damon. Her anger was thick and she couldn't contain it. As usual when she was anger, she was fighting the urge not to smash something and she wanted, inexplicably to hunt down Ares and the others for imprisoning Damon like that.
”I wouldn’t say disaster magnet just a god magnet and as luck would have it my new priestess. Now I would have you known that I haven’t eaten in eleven thousand years and my powers are not strong enough to take on the gods, not until I’ve fed. Now considering your grandmother must have taught you what I eat or at least what I sustain myself with then you might consider letting me have a little” if she had bothered to look at him right now she would have seen a childish puppy dog face, his stomach rumbled reminding them both of their hunger. ”Pretty please Nimph” he moved closer to her sitting down on the arm of her chair. ”Let go of your anger and feed your god” he knew if he wanted he could just take it from her, and she had to know that too, but the fact that he was actually asking for it had to say something.
Niamh grumbled something in Greek, but sighed. "Fine, but know this." She spun around in the chair to face him. "If you think I'm going to fawn all over you like some lost puppy, you're wrong. I may be your priestess, but I am not your pet." Shrugging out of the jacket. She made sure that both her wrist and neck were fine. "How do we do this?" She asked self-conciously. "Better question...is it going to hurt?"
”No not unless I choose it to hurt, it might hurt when I bite you but most woman and men find it… pleasurable” he laughed ”You know I never expected you to fawn all over me, I actually got over that eleven thousand years ago, humans only do that so you’ll give them what they want they are as manipulative as the gods” he pulled her into his arms, his fangs lengthened and he leaned over her neck, her blood taunted him and his stomach rumbled again louder this time. ”You ready?” he asked his breath tickling her neck, he never gave her a chance to answer, he sunk his fangs into her neck taking what his body so craved for. Her blood was truly delectable and he might have taken more then he should so that when he pulled back she was a touch pale. He licked the wound healing it easily. ”I’m sorry I should pay attention, but I was so hungry I couldn’t help myself” he swept her up in his arms and carried her to her room setting her down on her bed. ”I won’t have to feed for a few weeks on blood now so don’t think I’m going to be doing it all the time”
Niamh gasped when she felt his fangs and let the unusual pleasure sweep through her. As he pulled away, she put her hands on his chest to steady herself. Her bedroom was small, but cozy with a queen-sized bed and antique dresser. Several of the artifacts from the temple where Damon had been imprisoned rested on a nightstand. A book on ancient Greek cults sat on her side of the bed. "Hmm..okay. I'll stock up on vitamins anyways. You're not leaving are you? You can have that side." She motioned to the other side of the bed. "I don't want to die in my sleep ya know." Her mind was a little fuzzy and her eyes began to flutter. "You aren't nearly as scary as I thought you were."
”You just wait until you see me in my true god form I’m demonic all the other gods think I’m the big bad monster ready to huff and puff and blow all the pigs temples down. The true reason they’re so scared of me is because I’m fated to kill them all and bring about the end of the world, but since they imprisoned me they signed their own death warrants.” He laid down on the other side of the bed it was actually quite comfortable. ”Again I’m sorry if I took a little bit too much but you have no idea how much stronger I feel now, those wimps had better go run and hide because Damon the god of Destruction is on a warpath” he chuckled darkly his eyes flashing red that he hoped she didn’t see. It wouldn’t do for his new priestess to grow scared of him, though one day she would have to see his true form. ”Get some sleep trust me you’ll feel better in the morning”
Niamh yawned and laid down. "It's already morning..." She said before fading into sleep. She awoke a few hours later with a scream on her lips. In her dream, the gods had all gotten together and had made Damon watch as they killed her and her family slowly. She looked over at the god and shivered suddenly cold again.
Her scream tore him from his dreams, nice dreams at least most of them where he reigned supreme or at least where his father didn’t hate him. He sat up with a curse on his lips ready for any threat that came his way, nothing was there he looked over at her and frowned rubbing at sleepy eyes. ”Are you alright?” he asked in a low voice reaching out and touching her arm. ”You had a bad dream didn’t you?” he already knew she had mainly because of how pale her face was and how she shook. Damon pulled her into his lap rubbing her back ”you know with me here nothing can hurt you right? No one is willing to take on the god of destruction”
Niamh leaned against him and shivered. She closed her eyes. "I know, but I'm still scared. This was a dream unlike any of my others." Rubbing her face with her hands, she sighed. "I'm okay. Go back to sleep. You have to be exhausted and I didn't mean to wake you." She was trying not to show how exhausted she as. The light from the late morning filtered in and showed the beautiful highlights in her hair.
”Nimph you do know that I’ve been asleep for eleven thousand years right? If anything I slept way too much” he laughed and fingered a lock of her hair the light shown on her hair bringing out highlights that were impossible to see in the dark, dipping his head he kissed her forehead and set her back on her side of the bed. ”Get some more sleep girl you got circles under your eyes and no priestess of mine will look like she just walked out of my father’s domain” he joked, between the rest and the blood from last night he felt more energized then he had in well eleven thousand years. He was more than ready to take on the gods. But now wasn’t the time he needed to get them when his power had been fully restored. Together they could take him out, his power was slowly starting to come back he could feel it but it wasn’t enough not yet ”Sweet dreams beautiful priestess”
Niamh smiled a little and closed her eyes. "Good morning, God of Destruction." She muttered in response as she began to fade back into sleep. "Oh, if my family calls, just let the answering machine get it. I don't feel like talking to them today." She yawned and stretched before rolling over to face his side of the bed. "Just ignore the gods and go back to sleep for a few hours. Dreaming can be..." And with that she fell asleep.
”Aye if you had been dreaming of getting away from a damn temple for eleven thousand years and exacting revenge upon those who placed you there you wouldn’t just forget about it either” he told the sleeping woman. Now that he was awake he couldn’t just sit around instead he flashed himself to Artemis’s temple who was lounging with her maids one glare in their direction sent the women scurrying from the room. ”Hello my beautiful Artemis long time no see, what’s it been eleven thousand years since our last meeting?” his voice echoed across the temple making the beautiful goddess pale. ”Damon, you shouldn’t be here, Zeus and the other’s are already making plans to take you out” Damon laughed a harsh sound and shook his head, he flashed across the room till he stood right before the goddess. Her breath caught and she took a step back. ”You think those weaklings scare me? No Artemis I came to see you, it’s payback time for what you did to me, you especially. You betrayed me, sided with them and had me imprisoned and then what did you do? Replace me” his eyes flashed red and Artemis trembled which used to have the effect of making him feel guilty and calm down but not this time, the bitch had betrayed him for the last time. ”I put up with a lot of crap from you, but now anymore you will pay” he hissed ”lucky for you it won’t be today” he flashed back to Nimph’s apartment feeling smug about the fear he had put into her eyes. Never again would he let himself soften for her, she had thrown him aside when it suited her, that betrayal stung worst of all and she would pay the most, she would shed blood the same as he had for her.
Niamh woke up as the atmosphere in her apartment shifted. "Damon?" She called groggily. "Is that you?" The sun was brightly shining through her window and his side of the bed was empty. Something wasn't right. Her hand reached for a dagger, she kept in the bedside table and she swung her feet over the side of the bed. The anger that echoed through the apartment made her shiver. "Damon?"
Damon paced the floor trying his best to control his anger and not doing a very good job, his eyes were flashing quickly between their normal dark brown black color to a blood red. He didn’t want Nimph to see him like this so forced away the anger that threatened to consume him. They all would pay in time that he would make sure of. ”I’m in here Nimph there’s nothing to worry about” he took a deep breath feeling a tad calmer now, or at least calm enough to turn and face her without being afraid that his destructor form would come out and freak the hell out of her.
Niamh let out a sigh of relief and lowered the dagger. "Why were you so angry?" She asked as she placed the dagger on a bookcase and walked past him into the kitchen. Her kitchen had herbs drying all around it, hanging in bundles everywhere. There were jars of different colors on the window sill that reflected colors throughout the kitchen. Niamh opened a cupboard next to the stove and pulled out some oatmeal. Grabbing a pot, she set out to make some. "Do you want any, or are you going to stand there fuming with anger at whichever of the gods you went to see while I was sleeping?"
”Oh I wonder” he muttered sarcastically, annoyed with her cavalier attitude she wouldn’t feel the same way if she had gone through what he had. He followed her into the kitchen and made a face at the box of oatmeal she pulled out, disgusting stuff, he settled for an apple and munched on it not moving from his spot near the doorway. ”No thank you, but I hate oatmeal… You know I’m allowed to be angry if I want to I have much to be pissed off with, besides what does it matter to you who I visit and what I’m mad at?” the apple juice made his fingers sticky and he threw the core away while never actually moving from his spot, call him lazy but god like powers did come in handy. Licking his fingers clean he watched her move around the kitchen. ”Did you sleep well?”
Niamh turned fury slowly rising. "You made it my concern when you scared the hell out of my ex-boyfriend in the middle of the street a couple of hours ago, remember?" She said sarcastically. Walking towards him, she stopped a little ways away from him, closed her eyes and smelled him. "The Temple of Artemis." She said with certainty. "Interesting choice...relatively low power in comparison with your father." Her eyes opened and she returned to her oatmeal. "No, I didn't sleep well. I never sleep well. Too many visions and nightmares." Niamh's voice had settled into almost a whisper. Her oatmeal finished and she dished it into a bowl with some brown sugar, milk, and raisins. "You need time to recover, but you're so consumed with your own rage that you don't see that."
”Yeah well you’re ex boyfriend also happens to be one of the gods that trapped me, as was that little bitch who calls herself a goddess. And while it’s nice that I found a human who knows so much about the Gods it is kind of creepy that you could smell me and know where I’ve been… just saying” he shook his head and took a seat at the table watching her eat. ”Rage was the only thing that kept me going while I was trapped sorry if I can’t just set it aside. Besides why are you surprised that the god of destruction has an anger issue?” he shrugged his mind on her again. ”Artemis isn’t that weak especially when she teams up with her brother you should know that being as close to the gods as you are, which is rather odd might I add gods like humans as pets yes which is probably how Ares viewed you, I’m betting that he left you for Aphrodite the instant she wanted him back didn’t he?”
Niamh laughed coldly. "No, he left me for one of Aphrodite's priestesses." She looked up at him. "I know so much about the gods because I was raised to be a priestess, whichever one wanted me as their priestess when I came of age could have me, which is why I moved away from my hometown. Artemis's temple has a very distinct smell, a forest smell if you will. Artemis is still relatively weak and you're going to have to get over getting mad at me if you want me to help you at all. Got it?" Her voice had risen a little as the rage returned. "You are just like my father and brothers, you know that? As long as you get what you want, it doesn't matter what happens to those around you. Which is how I ended up with Ares." She took another bite of her oatmeal and glared at him, before taking a deep breath. "Ares didn't view me as a pet, he viewed me as a way to a means." Her anger was cooling, which annoyed her a little. She couldn't understand why she couldn't stay mad at him, but she couldn't.
”I wouldn’t say mad I would say annoyed, you have no right to get mad at me just because I’m angry. And yeah I’m not surprised Ares treated you that way don’t you get it? Gods see humans as below them just pets or things to be used to get what they want. Even that priestess I’m sure he’s tired of now. Besides you don’t know my past with Artemis so let me keep my rage… not like I’m about to act on it at the moment anyway” why he was trying to give any reason for his anger to her was beyond him he was a god he shouldn’t have to explain himself to her. But still he was doing it there anyway.
Niamh glared at him from across the table and sighed. "Fine." She said with an annoyed tone. Standing up, she threw away the rest of her oatmeal and walked out of the kitchen. Sitting in a chair in the living room, she looked at the pictures of the various places she had been. "Damon...am I a pet to you?" Niamh asked after a few minutes. "I need to know, so I don't expect anything more than you are willing to give. "Am I food? A way to wreak your revenge on the gods?"
”Well your blood is rather tasty and to be honest I need you. But you aren’t my pet if you were I wouldn’t be taking such insubordination. I never used humans as pets my priestess served me and feed me because they wanted to, I never took blood from anyone who wasn’t willing to give it and I always treated my priestess with respect surely your grandmother told you that” Damon followed her into the living room taking a seat on the couch, ”Your blood is essential for my strength though, but other than that I would never get you in the middle of what I have planned it’s no place for any human”
Niamh nodded. "I've heard that somewhere before." Her face remained solemn and she looked over at him. Rubbing her head, she closed her eyes. "Wonderful, I'm sharing my apartment with the god of destruction who wants to take out all the gods that imprisoned him in a temple for eleven thousand years. My mum is going to love that." She rolled her eyes skyward and then thought for a minute. "How am I going to pay my bills and still be priestess? Looks like it's time to call in a few favors. What's your opinion on Cupid? He owes me big time and I need rent money." Niamh hated to admit it, but sometimes the Crypt just didn't cut it. Especially when tips at the bar were bad. This kept her mind off the fact that she was standing on the edge of a war of the gods and that she still hadn't explained every connection she had with the gods he hated.
”You shouldn’t worry about rent money I can take care of that, a perk of living with a god after all. Besides you’re mom might like me… as long as you keep it all hushity hush about me being the god of destruction and the fact that I’m about to bring about the death of all the gods and the end of the world well than yeah she’ll like me” he laughed shrugging lightly. ”Nimph you’re asking my opinion on the gods? Really? After what they did to me? Do you really think I’m going to have a good opinion of them?” he shook his head.
