That awkward moment when:
It's Ari, back for another thread about the awkward moments in life.
I have come to the conclusion that my life is made up of everything bizarre and uncomfortable that could ever happen to someone. EVER. I often find myself standing awkwardly behind someone in a store and have the urge to cough...causing them to look at me. Yesterday~ I was walking in uptown with a friend and we went into the Pink Java cafe to get some tea. I finally got up to the counter and asked the man for a chai. This was followed by the man tilting his head slightly to the left with a questioning expression. I then repeated myself, asking for an iced chai with whipped cream once more. He did it again and I turned to my friend with a weird "WTF" look on my face. Another lady then walks up behind this man and pulls him aside, saying: "I'm sorry. This man does not speak english. He shouldn't be up here." She then took my order and gave me my chai. We sat down and my friend couldn't help but laugh at me. It was SO AWKWARD. Have you ever had a moment where you're just like "OMG AWKWARD"? How did you cope with the uncomfortable feeling in your gut? |

My life is one big awkward moment.
I used to work at a pet store, my ex worked with me. She started being really weird about not talking to me a few months before that so I normally just ignored her for the most part. I was her boss at the time and she left one of the reptile habitats open all night. I had to write her up for it then coach her about it. I had another manager in the room with me when I was talking to her about it and my ex suddenly started just crying out of no where. The manager that was there was like "this is awkward" and I left the room after that since there was no reason for her to be crying in the first place and I really did not care about her personal issues. Another time with her, after I no longer worked at that store, my sister and I were looking at fish and she didn't recognize me because I had cut all my hair off. She was cleaning tanks and didn't realize it was me until after I told her I did not need help after she asked. She nearly fell off the ladder she was standing on. Note this was two years after we actually stopped talking. My sister just looked at her then at me and replied with "awkward", which I'm sure didn't help. I've had this lady call me stupid in Japanese before when I was waiting to check out at the grocery store. I turned and told her I understood her and that if she had something to say she can say it in English. She said she didn't realize I understood then got out of line and went into another line. Another time, I had asked my guy friend to come over and play bass for this song I was working on since he's a lot better than I was. I tripped over a wire and landed on top of him, knocking over my brand new bass and scratching the hell out of it. |
That awkward moment when you realize you can't just go home and Wikipedia the new person you want to date to find out everything about them. :lol:

When I first entered high school, I was completely unfamiliar with pretty much everyone in the school. The only after school program I was involved with was volleyball. We had a school rally for homecoming week, and lots of events were going on. Some you signed up for, others were class-wide where all members of the class would go down to participate. I, being new and uneducated on what the hell was occurring, saw one of my volleyball acquaintances, Courtney, run down to start a tug-of-war match with some of the other volleyball girls. I thought I was supposed to be down there, as I hadn't been paying much attention to anything that was going on, so I ran down to the center of the gym with the other girls and said "So what are we doing down here?" and Courtney looked at me completely confused and said "Um.. You're not supposed to be down here." So I stood up, with a horribly red face, and had to walk all the way back to my seat before they could start. Worst way to alert everyone of my presence in the school, ever. v.v ---------- Quote:
Oh my.. that happened to me when my boyfriend was graduating from the police academy. I was so grateful to her though, because I was just about to walk out of the bathroom and she stopped me just before I opened the door! Phew! x.x |
@Nimka: My high school did those too, and they were terribly confusing! There were a few freshman stragglers that ended up inadvertently taking part in the Boys vs. Girls games every year. :lol:

My entire life is pretty much an awkward moment, but I oddly feel most awkward on the internet.
That awkward moment you think you're being really funny, and nobody likes your status or responds to your forum post... ;_; In real life, I stutter, then I just get anxious and things come out all wrong. It gets worse when I plan out what I want to say to someone, which is often what I do, so I have a lot of awkwardly-worded moments. |
That awkward moment when you're riding on the bus, want to open a window, and after telling you that you can't open it, old women start calling you a whore.
This didn't happen to me, but it sure as fucking hell was awkward. |
A few years ago in school for some reason everyone went through a phase where we sort of swung our hands when we stopped moving, which meant we accidentally touched someone's butt a lot when we were standing in line. o_0;;
I have no idea why we all went through that all at once... |
