Firefox (Not Responding) WTF?

I'm just trying to see if Firefox is having an issue right now, or if it's just my computer. For the past 3 days, I've been having to ctrl+alt+delete myself out of my Firefox windows when they keep locking up and not responding (usually right when I'm in the middle of typing up a long-ass post or half-way through an online application...fml). Anyone else been having Firefox issues?

Firefox is a memory hog, always has been. I have endless issues with it not responding, but rarely ever with Chrome.

Hmm, it sounds like this is a problem with your own computer. Have you run a virus scan lately? Or cleaned the dust out of your heat sink? At the very least, clear out your cache in FF.

Try out a different Internet browser like Google Chrome just for comparison, but I think that you might have to get your computer cleaned up a bit before it'll stop freezing on you.

And just so you know, I've gone ahead and moved this thread into the Computers forum for you.

Hope we've been able to help you, my dear *tips hat* :)

Mine has been doing that for weeks now. Just freezes every few minutes for about a minute or so. I let it run its course and eventually it returns to normal. And just on my PC. It doesn't do this on my laptop.

I'll try the cache clearing though. Hadn't thought of that. :D

Mr Mayor answering random threads? There's an event on the horizon!

Considering Menewsha's (the island) lack of technology, any computer Mr. Mayor has is probably coal-fired  That's probably why he has problems :ninja:

Weird how some browsers misbehave though, isn't it?

Bearzy 10-25-2011 11:42 PM

Coal powered computers must be bad for the environment!

Clearing my cache didn't work. :c

Thanks for the suggestions :-) I did do some virus scans, checked my security, etc. After Norton Antivirus found and "fixed" 8 issues, I was bombarded with pop-ups on my desktop screen asking me if I wanted to run funky-sounding applications. I was virus-bombed...lol. I ended up just doing a system restore to last week when I wasn't having issues, and so far so good...

As Mr. Mayor said, Firefox is a memory hog.
Have you tried using different browsers?
I havn't had an issue with Chrome even once since I started using it. It's a great browser.
If you keep getting this problem, try testing your computer with a few different browsers to see if it's just Firefox or your computer.
