Faerie♥Dust [OPEN//PM me if you want to join]
http://static.desktopnexus.com/thumb...gthumbnail.jpg What if the professions that one specialized in weren't really an innate ability, but a gift? Something they could gain only by winning the favor of one of mythological roots? I mean faeries of course. In this modern day-esque world of Mȳthos, those who prosper have won the good graces of the fae who will only attach themselves to the ones they deem worthy. It is an honor to be bonded with a faerie, they are a loyal bunch and will follow the one they have bonded with through anything as long as they are treated with respect. Of course, for everything good, there is a bad. For those who can't seem to do any good a pixie will find them. Instead of a gift bestowed though, a pixie will leave one with a curse. Bad luck with follow the cursed everywhere they go, the pixie wreaking havoc on their lives as they have been bonded. There is of course, a solution. If one Gifted by Fae is willing to accept one Cursed by Pixie then there is hope yet for the cursed. It is not an easy solution for the two kinds do not often mix as the cursed members of society are looked down upon and are often left to inhabit the "underground". It's time for the new generation to try and put an end to the discrimination. Will they be able to prove that the curses can be broken? Intro.Rules.Info.Profiles.Lists.OOC.Extra1.Extra2 |

Info Here is some basic knowledge in the world of Mȳthos: The Difference The differences between the Faerie and Pixie have become skewed with time and for the sake of keeping things somewhat regular, these will be the descriptions used in this world. Faerie A faerie is often depicted as young, sometimes winged, females of small stature whose true forms are tall, angelic beings. They can fly, use simple magic, and provide wise advice. They are the ones who grant humans the ability to excel in a specific profession. Pixie Pixies are mischievous little folk with pointed ears and wingless whose true forms are tall and angelic looking, the way to tell them apart from Fae in their true forms is the twisted gleam in their eyes and the lack of wings. They have the ability to disappear in tight situations and casting bad fortune upon their victim of choice. The People The types of people living in Mȳthos: Gifted by Fae These people are the ones who run successful businesses, direct those movies you watch, design those clothes you wear, write those books you read, make the medicine that cures you, etc. They seem to have this extra charm to them that just makes them likeable. Neutral These people are neither here nor there. They can be shopkeepers/owners, book writers, basically anything they want to be, they just aren't as successful and manage to make enough just to keep on going. They are the consumers. They just didn't have that extra pull to them that would have attracted a fae and, luckily, they didn't have that extra darkness that would have called a pixie to them. Exceptions: Sometimes, though they don't have the pull necessary for a faerie to bond with them, some neutrals can catch the interest of a fae and gain it's trust. The fae will stay on as a companion to the neutral, only able to give small nudges along the right path. ((if you want to have a fae and be a neutral, you'll have to ask me about that first. I need a good reason as to why.)) Cursed by Pixie These people are the ones shunned by society. They have been forced out of their homes and are lucky if they can make any money. Misfortune follows them everywhere ranging from tripping over air to buckets of water falling on them to almost getting run over by cars. As pitiable as their situation makes them, most do not wish for pity and will gladly live out the rest of their days away from the rest of the society, banishing the thoughts of being freed from their curse to the realms of myth. The Places Mȳthos is a beautiful world that has been rendered into two by the mythological beings that live on it: The City Mȳthos' main city is a beautiful place to live. The buildings reach to the sky while remaining uncrowded and open. Crystalline fixtures make the city sparkle in the sunlight and glow in the moonlight. The hustle and bustle of every day life is peaceful for the most part as there is harmony between humans and fae. It is only when the pixie and their bonded appear are there ever any real disturbances. The Underground It's not actually underground though parts of it may be so. The underground is comprised of abandoned buildings and routes along the edge of the main city with tunnels and passageways that link all areas of the underground together. "Xue-Yi!" a small voice chimed right next to the long haired photographer's ear. The male groaned before throwing an arm over his eyes, rolling onto his side. He rested like that for a moment, Cerise frowning and stomping her foot in frustration before almost falling off the bed backwards when Xue-Yi suddenly sat up.
He covered up a yawn with a hand before smiling at Cerise and reaching out his other hand to help right her again. "Good morning, ma cherie." Cerise smiled brightly at that and flapped her beautiful black and blue wings so that she could hover at eye level with Xue-Yi. She bent at the waist and placed a tiny kiss on the tip of his nose. "Bonjour, mon cher." she responded, before landing on his shoulder and tugging on a bunch of his hair. "Dépèche toi. You have an appointment with Monsieur Acqua today." (Hurry up.) Xue-Yi tilted his head slightly, not enough to dislocate Cerise, before he nodded. "Merci beaucoup pour rappeler me." (Thank you very much for reminding me.) He said before throwing the covers off his legs and sliding out of bed. Cerise settled onto his shoulder, swinging her legs back and forth as he headed towards his closet and picked out a top (the one in his profile pic) and a pair of black slacks. He raised a hand to shoulder height for Cerise to climb onto before lowering her to his bedside table. "I'm going to take a shower. Can you check what else I have planned for today Cerise?" "Of course Xue-Yi." Xue-Yi nodded once again to his friend before disappearing into his bathroom. Cerise fluttered over to the desk on the other side of the room and peered up at the books lining the edge of the desk before finding the one she was looking for. Cerise pushed on the book, but it didn't budge. She pouted before flying up to the top and bracing her back against the wall, pushed out against the spine of the book until it finally budged. She smiled and then let out a squeak when the book toppled over, almost falling on top of her. She brushed her skirt and top smooth before fluttering over the page the book had fallen open to. She turned a few more pages before finding the day's date. "Did you find it yet Cerise?" Xue-Yi asked, coming out of the bathroom while rubbing his hair with a towel. Cerise grinned. "There's a piano recital today. Monsieur Acqua should have gotten the tickets." Xue-Yi nodded before jerking his head to his bedroom door. "Let's get some breakfast to go and surprise Monsieur Acqua, what do you say Cerise?" The fairy giggled before gliding over to Xue-Yi's shoulder to settle down again. ~~~~~~~~~~~ "Acqua, avez-vous dormi du tout hier soir?" (Acqua, did you sleep at all last night?) "Narcisse..." Acqua's voice came out soft, tired sounding. His dark green eyes flickered from the pages spread across the table before him to the fairy that was making her way over to him, her clothes and hair trailing behind her. "I could not sleep, mon ange." Acqua felt the softness of Narcisse's gossamer clothes ghosting over his skin before she alighted on his desk, on top of the pieces he had been working on. "No more work Acqua. Go clean yourself up. Monsieur Xue-Yi and Cerise will be coming over soon." Acqua looked like he was going to argue the point before he shrugged and got up from his desk, running a hand over his face as he turned to the clock on his wall. He'd stayed up the entire night working again, his insomnia must have kicked in at some point if he hadn't fallen asleep at his desk. He shuffled over to his closet and grabbed some clothes before leaving his studio to go down the hall and enter the bathroom. Narcisse heard the shower turn on with a hiss and she nodded to herself before moving so that she no longer stood on top of Acqua's work. She peered down at the sketches and mumbled a bit to herself before picking up Acqua's discarded pencil and adding a few more lines, satisfied with her additions, she waved a hand and the papers all fluttered into a neat pile while Narcisse dropped the pencil back with the others. That done, she switched her attention to the windows and waved her hand again, this time drawing the curtains aside so that sunlight could fill the room. "What are you doing Narcisse?" The purple-haired fairy turned her head delicately to see her bond-mate leaning heavily on the door frame, one hand shoved into his pants pockets, bare-chested, with a towel draped over his shoulders. He was just slipping his glasses back on. "A bit of... reorganizing." the graceful fairy responded, before frowning at his state of half dress. She shook her head, no, that wouldn't do. She opened her wings and fluttered to the closet and waved her hands to open the door before pointing at a beige t-shirt, brown long sleeve, and a beige blazer. They all fell off their hangers and Narcisse directed them to drift over to Acqua. He sighed but took them nonetheless, pulling them on quickly and giving his hair a quick rub with the towel. He dropped the towel into the hamper before going over to his desk and picking up the two concert tickets he had bought the previous day. Right on cue, the doorbell rang. Narcisse settled herself onto Acqua's shoulder before the male turned and ventured down the hallway to his apartment's front door, opening it to see a bright smile on his friend's face. "Are you ready to go?" Xue-Yi asked. Cerise was hiding in his long tresses, shooting furtive glances at Narcisse, who reclined against Acqua's neck. Acqua's eyes flickered to his kitchen and returned to Xue-Yi when the photographer laughed. He held up a paper bag and swung it back and forth. "I brought breakfast." A soft smile appeared on Acqua's lips and he nodded. The two left the apartment building before getting into Xue-Yi's car. The two fairies settled into their respective bonded's pockets. "Did you get the tickets?" Xue-Yi asked curiously as he drove to the concert hall. Acqua paused with the fork halfway to his mouth before reaching into his pocket opposite the one Narcisse was in and pulled out the tickets. It was a charity concert where the proceeds from the tickets would be donated. Xue-Yi grinned before returning his attention to the road, pulling into the parking lot of the concert hall. ((we're officially open.)) |
It began, as always, with Genesis having to wake herself up. Of course, part of her would have liked to bury her face back into her pillow and gone back to sleep, but she knew Scion was lurking around her somewhere. And there was no telling what the little pixie would do if Genesis slept in longer then normal. She reached over for her jeans, pulling them on before sliding out of her bed. The springs groaned as she got up, the old iron-frame creaking as she moved. All of it had been salvaged; whatever money she could make went into trying to keep herself fed and trying to keep up with rent (the latter was more important, so she often went without food.) "Well, finally you are awake," an angelic little voice whispered into her ear. Genesis paid no attention to it, at first, but Scion would have none of that; with a sharp frown, the little pixie grabbed a tiny handful of her hair and yanked. "Ow, jesus," she grumbled, shrugging the pixie off her shoulder. "Yes, I'm awake." Scion only smirked as she jumped down onto old desk, crossing her arms over her chest. "You look like a boy," Scion said after a moment, with a decidedly wicked grin. Genesis flinched, trying to ignore the pixie as she entered her bathroom. "Yeah, no thanks to you," Genesis mumbled, running a hand through her short, dark hair self-conciously. It had been long not even a week before, and had been her pride and joy. But no, fate wouldn't have any of that; all it took was a toddler on the bus with a handful of gum, and it was bye-bye hair. She sighed as she looked at her reflection in the mirror, debating on whether she wanted to bother with showering or not. "You really should," Scion said as she traipsed in and made herself comfortable on the edge of the tub, reading Genesis' mind. Or her expression, Genesis didn't know if Scion could really read her mind or not. "You look like death." Genesis only scowled at Scion, knowing the pixie was right. It wasn't just that she was pale from lack of sunlight and sleep, she was just too thin- her lack of a job made it nearly impossible to keep her stomach happy. "I bet the water's cold," she said flatly, before reaching in and turning on the water. The water that trickled out of the rusty, clogged shower-head was, indeed, cold; with a sigh, Genesis stripped, bracing herself as she hopped in. She quickly showered, staring at the rusty tiles as she cleaned off. God, she hated it here. But there was nothing she could do about it; ever since Scion had decided to waltz into her life, things had been absolute hell. She turned the water off and climbed out, wrapping a dingy grey towel around her before slipping out of the bathroom. She got dressed quickly, pulling on dark jeans and a thin, pale pink cami, then began searching for her jacket. "Scion, where is my jacket," she asked after a moment, looking up to eye the pixie, who was sitting on the bedside table as she searched under the bed. Scion only smiled innocently, shrugging. "You really should keep track of your stuff," she chided mockingly. "I'm pretty sure some hobo is enjoying it right now. You did an act of charity, if you think about it, leaving it on that park bench yesterday." Genesis only sighed again, getting to her feet and grabbing her boots out of the closet. She peered inside for a moment, knowing that there wouldn't be another jacket in there, then slammed it shut and pulled her boots on. Then, she turned to leave, knowing Scion was following her like a bad dream. The apartment she lived in was rundown and looked like it would fall apart if some stray breeze came by and brushed against it. The landlady was some crazy old cat-lady who lived on the top floor. Whenever she saw Genesis she glared and hurried off in the other direction, muttering in rapid Chinese; she'd learned to ignore her. The only other renters were a crazy old man who had once served in the army, according to what he said, and two sisters, both old as well, who never spoke and dressed in fine clothes that looked like they came straight out of the fifties. They looked like they didn't belong there, with their pretty clothes and haughty attitudes, but Genesis wasn't one to question. She took the rotting stairs quickly, always afraid that her foot would fall through one of them if she lingered too long. "What's the plan for today," Scion asked. It was like she was waiting for something she could screw up; Genesis hardly ever planned on doing things anymore, knowing it would probably end badly. Instead, she shrugged, her usual response. Shoving her hands into her pockets, she shivered slightly, wishing that she had her jacket as she headed down the street. It was key to keep her head down; even in this part of town, people didn't like her. And she lived on the outskirts of the outskirts, the place where the "Underground" was just beginning. Most of the buildings here were boarded up. She'd hoped on going out to find a job today, but she was getting tired of the old grind. She found her feet carrying her on, past the people that scowled at her until she found herself at the entrance to the old tunnels. [[I hope this is okay >w<]] |
If you look down Main Street you see a normal variety of shops and stores, all very modern next to the Main Mall, except one. It looks a little odd next to the rest of the shops. A little 'old-worldly' some have been known to call it. The outside painted rich green with gold trim, the front of the building more windows than wall. Each window holding a warm display of either comfy chairs by a warm fire, or a perfect fall scene of books scattered around tall trees surrounded by fallen leaves or a variety of other scenes, carefully constructed to make one want to read. Over the windows is a gold-scroll designed sign saying "Books and Beyond". Those that enter are greeted with the heart warming smell of apple cider and cinnamon, and the smiling face of the shops owner, Cody Monroe. Miss Monroe turned a childhood adoration of literature into a perfect career for herself. With the addition of the "Beyond Books Cafe", "Books and Beyond" has become a treasured hot-spot for teens and young adults as the primary clientele. -Roxy Richie -Big Shot Newspaper Cody had woken up at dawn to come to Books and Beyond. She hated every night when she would have to close, and awoke earlier each day eager to come back to her love. This was the only thing, the normally very shy girl was every passionate about in front of others. Cody sat in the middle of an aisle, between two shelves, with boxes of books surrounding her as she found the proper place for each and every one of them. "Svletlana? Have you made up the new placards yet?" "yep yep!" the little fairy fluttered up to Cody, trying to hold the name cards that were as big as herself. Cody smiled at her old friend and put everything in it's proper place."Why don't you go take a break." "Thanks Cody." Svletlana fluttered off to the book she had resting a podium stand. The 21 year old girl pushed a white blonde pigtail off her shoulder. This place was her love. Her books were her best friends-besides Svletlana of course-and her cousin Dante. She smiled as she stood up and stretched out her spine. Tucking the boxes back behind the front desk, Cody made her way to the cafe. She shyly greeted her staff before making herself a hot cocoa, and returning to the front desk. Cody watched her fairy read. She never had to worry about Svletlana. The fae was clever. Svletlana had a knack for knowing exactly when someone was coming and when to 'disappear' as she did. Actually, if it wasn't for the fact that Cody had been crying into a book when Svletlana saw her as a child, they probably never would have met, especially considering how shy both of them where, and still are. "CO~DY, can I ask you something!" Belle was the head of Cody's wait staff. "Whats up?" Cody's voice was softer than a moment before talking with Svletlana. All her staff were women, simply because she never thought any guy would be able to take Cody's soft spoken orders seriously. "Well~ I totally need tomorrow off." "I'm sorry Belle, but you're the only one that was free when I made the schedule." "No~ Fair!!!" the 18 year old whined. "Why don't you just work my shift for me?" "I guess-" Cody started to speak when she heard Svletlana's voice in her ear. "Don't do it. Stand up for yourself." Cody took a deep breath. "I'm sorry Belle but you'll either have to switch with one of your girls or work the shift." she managed to get out. "Fine~." Belle pouted and walked back to the cafe. "I did it, Svletlana!" Cody smiled once her employee was out of ear shot. "I stood up for myself." Svletlana materialized on Cody's shoulder. "I knew you could do it." The smile slipped from her lips. "Yes, but can I do it again?" Cody sipped her cocoa, and opened a book she had just gotten in. They were photographs from amateur to professional photographers. She twirled a lock of hair around her finger as she studied the photographs. She used her basic knowledge of what she had read to try and tell which photos were taken by an amateur compared to a professional, but for the life of her she could only see the beautiful pictures. |
One can always recognize the start of a new day with the sun. With its rays being so bright, and its nasty habit of sneaking through windows, it can easily waken a person. Though Marcus was usually the exception; the sun doesn’t wake him.
Therefore, his pixie had to help. “Rise n shine luv!” the tiny voice in his ear bellowed, startling the Cursed so bad that he literally fell out of bed…again. He hit the wooden floor with a hard THUD, causing him to gasp, blinking around in a daze. “Wassit?? Where am I??” he questioned, looking around. He was immediately drawn to the top of his now-empty bed, where tiny peals of laughter could be heard. “Same place you were yesterday! And the day before that, and then the day before that, and of course the day before THAT--” “Alright, alright, I get it; time to start a new day…” Marcus grumbled, picking himself off the floor. “But why must you insist of waking me up in such a fashion?” he sighed, looking around for his clothes; she had better not tosses them out, he wasn’t going around in his boxers again… “I could have used cold water, but then again you’re going to have to use it either way luv!” Desdemona grinned, hopping up onto his shoulder. He simply rolled his eyes knowing she was right, and headed over to the dingy little bathroom they had in the apartment. Their apartment wasn’t much, but it was still something. Even in the Underground the Cursed always had problems finding places to stay. He should count himself fortunate that the old man who owned the place allowed him a room (though rent was sometimes hard to come by). He hardly saw any other neighbours, but Desdemona assured there were some. Despite being a pixie, Marcus trusted her rather well; she did after all change him for the better (although it had to take a bloody curse to change...). He showered quickly, and changed into black jeans. Though once he noticed his short was missing, he turned on his pixie. “Desdemona…” “Yes luv?” came her response. “My shirt?” he demanded with a pointed glare. The pixie simply gave him a cheeky grin. “Now luv I see nothing wrong with what you have on now~” “I’m not wearing anything!” “Exactly!” “Desdemonaaaa…” The 22 year old pouted. Finally the pixie relented; only that pout could make her change her mind…sort of. She gave up the location of his shirt, pointing back to the bed. Not believing his luck he rushed to get it, only to stare at it. “This is a muscle shirt.” “So luv?” “I don’t have a muscle shirt! Nor muscles for that matter!” “Such a kidder! Just put it on luv and take your jacket! We have a long day~” she gave him another cheeky grin, internally cheering as he grudgingly listened to her. Desdemona wouldn’t admit it, but she was fond of her Cursed; he was a much different boy when she first cursed him and she was looking forward to breaking his spirit. Instead he did a one eighty, believing the curse a blessing in disguise. Sure she had him lose a lot but he wasn’t overly upset with it….now. She would love to reel back in the back luck bestowed on him, but she was a pixie; it was just in their nature. Though when he was finally dressed in the muscle shirt and black jacket, she couldn’t help but grinned again. “Finally! Now let us see what today has in store!” she cackled, slipping into a pocket as he locked up the apartment. “Hopefully a job…” Marcus sighed, walking down the steps and onto the streets. He wasn’t going to hold any breaths though. His chances of a job were slim to none but what choice did he have? He definitely needed some money and soon; he wasn’t planning on getting kicked out any time soon… |
It wasn't accurate to say that Dante wasn't a morning person. He liked mornings and was always cheery, but he liked sleep just as much. However, once his alarm clock rang Dante was immediately up. He yawned loudly and stretched before looking around his messy bedroom. It wasn't very extravagant nor was it too meager; just right for a Neutral like him.
Dante glanced at his clock again. "Hey, she should have opened by now." He thought aloud as he stood up. He grabbed a dark green towel hanging on a random chair along with a (somewhat) clean pair of boxers before heading into the bathroom next door. About 10 minutes later, he came back into his room, drying his white hair while heading over to his closet. After perusing for a moment, Dante decided to wear his normal outfit; a pair of dark jeans and a plain white T-shirt. "Simple, but sexy." The 23 year-old chuckled to himself as he looked at himself in the mirror. A rumble in his stomach reminded Dante what he had woken up so early for. Grabbing his wallet and house keys, he rushed out of his room, past his small kitchen and living room and out the front door. The apartment Dante lived in was at the edge of the City, close to his work, but a bit of a walk from his second favorite place. Not like it mattered; the walk helped to keep the white-haired man in shape. He whistled softly to himself as he headed down the block closer inside the City. The further he walked, the more he saw the buildings change to something much nicer than where he lived. Finally, he saw the one building he wanted to see. Beyond Books Just as he predicted, the sign on the door read 'Open'. Through the window he saw the familiar white pigtails of his cousin. He smiled to himself and walked inside the bookstore/cafe, greeted by the scent of hot chocolate and cinnamon. "Morning Cody!" He greeted cheerfully, his green eyes focused only on the shorter girl flipping through a book, "What's for breakfast today?" *** "Sarita, get up. It's morning." Hazel eyes opened and looked straight into magenta colored irises. "Good morning to you too Elysia." Sarita replied as she slowly sat up so as to not knock down her pixie. Her back ached as usual from the hard mattress beneath her, but she held her tongue. There was no use complaining about it. "You have mail. Looks like the rent is due in a few days." The white-haired pixie stated in an emotionless voice while pointing to the small table in the middle of the dark apartment. "What?!" Sarita tried to get up but as she swung her feet out of the bed, she got tangled up in her blanket and fell to the floor with a loud thump. Elysia shook her head and jumped off the bed, gracefully landing on the floor next to her. "You need a job, now." "Thank you for the advice." The brunette stated as she began to untangle herself from her sheets. The pain radiating from her cheeks and left shoulder wasn't so bad. Being the klutz she was, Sarita was used to falling flat on her face. It only became more apparent in her life once Elysia arrived. However, the 18 year-old girl could still not find it in her heart to hate her pixie, even with all the hardships that had befallen her after they met. It wasn't Elysia's fault after all. If only she hadn't been born, maybe the people around her wouldn't have had to suffer... Elysia frowned at the Cursed girl's expression. She knew immediately what she was thinking about. The pixie jumped up onto Sarita's shoulder and hit her cheek. "Stop whatever you're thinking this instant." She demanded. She hated to admit it, but she had grown fond of her Cursed partner. When she first met Sarita and her depressing nature, she was excited to curse her. Elysia had expected her to throw a tantrum or whine forever, but instead Sarita just accepted it with a smile. Even when people had looked down on her afterwards, the brunette would just take it without complaint. Elysia (secretly) admired Sarita's temperament and wanted to make sure she didn't fall further into depression. Sarita was pulled out of her thoughts by Elysia's slap and gave her a soft smile. "Thank you, I needed that." She finally stood up and headed over to the bathroom. Passing by the mirror, Sarita glanced at her reflection. Her long hair was tangled up in knots, there were bags under her hazel eyes and her face was much thinner than she remembered. She let out a sigh before turning back to the shower. She twisted one of the knobs, praying that water would come out. Nothing. She sighed again. Sarita changed her plans and turned on the faucet of her sink. Water rushed out and she immediately started to wash her face. Elysia jumped down from her shoulder to avoid getting wet before heading back into the bedroom. Once Sarita was done, she followed after her pixie to see the tiny being pull out her favorite black dress from the closet. She smiled and took the soft fabric from the air. It was the dress that she wore when she left home. There were a few holes in the skirt and missing a flower from the collar, but still felt light as a feather. Sarita pulled it over her head and tied her hair up into a ponytail with a matching black ribbon. "We need to buy some water too." She made a mental note to herself while Elysia jumped back on her shoulder. "And food. You haven't eaten in days." "It would be nice. But first, a job." Sarita walked out of her tiny apartment, locking the door behind her before walking out onto the sidewalk of the Underground. Not many people were outside yet, something the brunette was grateful for. Less people meant less accidents she could cause. She started down the sidewalk, turning right at the first corner and immediately collided with someone. She fell backwards, luckily missing her head and groaned. "I'm sorry about that." She began as she looked up to who she bothered this time. She gasped softly. "Marcus?" |
"Lyssa," Layla squeaked happily as Lyssa went about getting dressed in her new gown. "You look so pretty for your first performance in town, I'm so proud of you. Once you're done dressing would you like me to turn on your microphones and start the sound check?"
"Have you yourself gotten dressed, yet," Lyssa questioned the young fairy--pausing, "Can you zip me up? Yes, you may start the final sound check. When the recital begins in few minutes, remember to speak directly into the microphone when you introduce me." "Yes ma'am, I'm dressed. Thank you for taking the time to put a gown together for me," Layla spoke cheerfully as she zipped up Lyssa's dress. "You're welcome--I will most definitely make sure that they can hear me." "You're very welcome Layla, you look fantastic and thank you--I don't know what I would do without you at times. You're such a help, but we are to help and care for each other--we're family, you're like the little Sister I never had growing up," Lyssa cooed as she slipped on her black heels watching the little fairy zip back to the front of the stage as she finally followed behind her, then pausing to wait behind the edge of the curtain. "I will never stop loving you and serving you makes me as happy as can be," Layla called as she turned on Lyssa's equipment smiling as she began to hear the buzz from the electric current finally beginning to pulse back through them. Then fluttering over to Lyssa's grand piano she went and sat by the mic, to whistle softly--hearing the response from the speakers, "We're good, all ready, Lyssa. Now, all we have to do is wait for everyone to file in." Lyssa nodded, waiting for the sound of shuffling feet as people would soon begin to file in. |
He knew that being a Cursed, trouble follows you everywhere. He just didn’t expect it to be this early, colliding into someone. He wasn’t knocked over, but it did leave him rather winded; probably not eating much lately may have added to that. He did notice that he had run into a fairly small girl and internally cursed; he seriously hoped she wasn’t some gang member’s chick he didn’t need that kind of trouble…
However he discovered quickly that his assumption was quite off. “Sarita?” Marcus blinked in surprise. Sarita was a young 18 year old, cursed like himself but had quite the patience and (unfortunately) depression. They had met in a rather strange situation but Marcus had gotten to know her a little bit afterwards and, to be honest, felt rather protective of her. It of course wasn’t anything serious; he thought of her more like a sister, seeing that he never really had siblings growing up. However it was quite a while since he last saw her let alone spoke with her; he had gone by her apartment only to learn she had relocated, and with no way to contact her Marcus could do nothing. Until now at least. “It’s quite good to see you Sarita,” Marcus smiled as he helped her up. He noted that she was wearing that same black dress again, and looked rather thin, “How have you been lately?” he asked kindly. |
Cody looked up as soon as she heard the familiar bell that twinkled merrily as soon as the door opened.
"Dante!" She smiled happily, before beginning to laugh. "Dante we're both wearing white again." She hopped off her stool to come around to the front of the desk, showing off her white tank top and black dress pants. "How are you today cousin?" Cody made her way to the boy, and walked with him to the Cafe. "You always come in for breakfast, do you like my cooks treats that much?" her smile softened, shyly, as they entered the cafe, her employees making themselves busy."Lets see this morning, oh Marie just made cinnamon buns, or there's waffles, or the usual cereals and coffee." Svletlana followed close behind them, she liked Cody's cousin, but she refused to be seen by anyone not Cody. |
"I'm doing quite fine. Thank you for asking." Sarita replied with a wide smile, the biggest Elysia had seen in a long while. Once the brunette was back on her feet, she dusted her dress off while Elysia nodded at the white haired man's red-haired pixie.
"Desdemona." She greeted calmly. It wasn't often that pixies met with other pixies, but since both their Cursed were good friends a respectable bond had formed between the two. "Oh, hi to you Desdemona." Sarita greeted as well, feeling complied to respect the pixie since she respected hers so much. She then turned her attention back to Marcus, the smile never leaving her face. The last time she had seen her friend was when she lived at her last place, an apartment much closer to his. However, when she lost her cleaning job at the same apartment, she was immediately evicted. Sarita had no time to say good-bye to Marcus since she had to quickly find a new residence. The streets of the Underground at night were a dangerous place for a young girl, especially one who was Cursed. "What about you Marcus? How have you been?" She asked politely. *** "I'm feeling great today Cody! How 'bout you?" Dante asked enthusiastically, still chuckling at the cute coincidence of the two white-haired relatives dressing in white. He followed her deeper into the cafe, catching the eyes of most of his cousin's female employees. "I love anything Marie makes." He answered her observation, winking at the chef, "May I have a taste of your sweet pastries, beautiful?" She giggled uncontrollably before setting out two warm cinnamon buns on the counter. Dante licked his lips and immediately grabbed for one, not caring if the icing got all over his fingers. He bit into it and savored the taste for a few moments. "Amazing as always." He announced before eating the rest of the bun. Once he was finished with the first, he grabbed the second one while turning back to his cousin. "Hey, did you hear about that famous pianist who came to town? She's suppose to be performing this charity concert today." He mentioned before devouring the second cinnamon bun. |
Cody rolled her eyes and stood next to her cousin, leaning against the counter. She knew all her employees loved when Dante came to visit. With a sigh she looked around, hoping to remind everyone that she was their boss.
"Could you stop flirting with my pastry chef?" The girl busied herself with straightening up the till. "Yeah I heard something about it. She supposed to be one of the greatest pianists for her age. You thinking of going?" |
The day had started off terrible, and had gone straight downhill from there. Her short trip into the tunnels, where she went to blow off steam or just to try and center herself, had resulted in her getting a massive mess of cobwebs in her hair. She was still trying to brush it all out as she walked down the street, dodging around people. Scion sat on her shoulder, snickering here and there as Genesis muttered about how much she hated spiders. "It doesn't look like anyone needs any jobs done today," she said with a sigh, as she pulled another strand of webbing out of her hair. "Just like yesterday." "And the day before, and the day before," Scion chimed in a sing-song voice. "My, my, you just can't seem to get a break." Genesis had to resist the urge to grab the pixie and chuck her into the street; that would probably just make things worse. "Loosing your temper in the middle of this crowd won't do you any good," Scion said pointedly. "Thanks for the reminder," Genesis muttered flatly. It was crowded today; there must have been some kind of event going on. She was so busy trying to see what was going on that she didn't see the stroller heading right for her. It collided with her, banging her hip and knocking the air out of her. "Oh god, my baby," the woman pushing the carriage shrieked. "You should watch where you're going!" "You kind of pushed the stroller into me," Genesis wheezed, struggling to catch her breath. She hadn't meant the words rudely, but the lady took it as that anyways, her eyes narrowing as she looked down on the short woman. "Ooh, wrong thing to say," Scion observed sagely, then disappeared. "Dammit," Genesis grumbled, one hand holding her stomach and the other her hip. "It was crowded, I didn't see," Genesis amended, struggling to think of what would be appropriate to say. The woman wasn't looking to give her a second chance. "My baby could have been tossed from her stroller," she ranted, pointing a finger at Genesis. "She could have been killed!" Overdramatic harpy, Genesis thought, still doubled over and looking up at the woman. "It was an accident. Your baby is fine." In fact, the baby hadn't even been jostled by the impact, and probably would have stayed snoozing if it's mother hadn't been screaming. As it were, the baby started to shriek itself. "Oh, my poor darling," the woman cried. "This is all your fault, if she's hurt I'm pressing charges-!" As the woman busied herself with the baby, Genesis slipped out of the crowd, ducking through the closest doorway she could find. She inhaled slowly as the door closed and silence enveloped her, and the warm scent of cinammon and baked goods instantly shot up her nose. She sneezed slightly, rubbing at her nose as Scion reappeared on her shoulder. "Well, that was a doozy," she commented idly, examining her nails. "I've always hated babies." Genesis only glared, but kept her mouth shut. Instead, she focused on how good it smelled in here, lingering longer then she probably should have. It was so warm and quiet here, though, and she wasn't sure if the woman with the stroller had left yet. |
Desdemona was rather surprised herself that her Cursed had (literally) run into this particular girl again. The pixie of course had nothing against her; it just felt rather odd to see her after she had vanished earlier. More than likely their curse somehow did her in, she was betting. Though she did spot the girl’s own pixie, and greeted her back in a respectable way. “Elysia.” The redhead was not one for…quietness, but she held respect for the other pixie and vice versa; besides it made her rather happy to see her Curse happy.
“It’s nice to see you again as well Elysia,” Marcus greeted back before retuning his focus to the young girl, “Can’t really complain I guess,” he shrugged, though pleased to see such a smile on her face. “Still on a job hunt though.” He was about to add some more when a loud rumble could be heard. He just chuckled lightly as a faint blush crossed his face, not knowing if it was himself or her. “Though I haven’t eaten anything yet; I have some money though,” Money he should probably save but what the hell. “You want to go grab something? Unless you’ve eaten already of course.” He said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. He actually doubted that she did, but still waited for her response. |
Dante just grinned cheekily at his younger cousin when she scolded him. "What can I say? I love attractive people." He announced, winking once more at Marie. His turned back to Cody when she mentioned the famous pianist.
"The tickets cost a fortune, but apparently the profits are all going to charity." He replied, "I need to go looking for help at the bar though, so I can't go. Maybe you should check it out." He took another bite from his cinnamon bun just as the door bell suddenly rang. He glanced to the front and saw a person dressed in black with their back against the door. Dante wasn't sure if the new customer was a boy or a girl, but he/she was quite pretty. "Looks like you have some business Cody, I'll let you do your job." He stated as he turned around to face the counter and ordered a cup of coffee. Now that he mentioned it, he needed to go to work soon... *** "Oh, I wouldn't want you to use your hard earned money on something so trivial as me." Sarita stated, looking down in shame as Elysia shook her head. "If you wouldn't mind treating us, the two of us haven't eaten in days." The pixie asked, deciding to take the initiative. "Elysia! Don't be so rude!" "Hey, I'm not turning down free food." "But-!" A loud growl interrupted the brunette. She looked down again and blushed in embarrassment while Elysia gave an all-knowing smile. She turned to the boy. "Would you like to lead the way Marcus?" |
Cody rolled her eyes. "Slow down Romeo. Marie is engaged now."
Cody bit her lower lip, and thought about going to the concert. "I'll check my books-" "You'd love to go!" Svletlana whispered in her ear. "I'd love to- hu?" Cody knew by now that Dante was used to her saying something, changing her mind, and finally settling on a course of action. "Come on! Just say it." "Alright, I'll go. Maybe I can hand out some business cards and draw more customers in." "No worries Cody. I can take care of the bookstore, and Belle can run the kitchens." Marie smiled gently, in that mother figure tone of hers. "Alright, alright I guess I'll go... What do I wear?" she blushed shyly at Maries insistance. Cody looked up and noticed the customer. "Alright, I'll see you later Dante." She gave her cousin a quick hug, and rushed to the podium to organize the menus until the customers entered. |
Marcus himself was having his own conversation with his pixie who had prompt whacked him upside his head. "Ow! Desdemona what what that for?" he gasped, rubbing the back of his now sore head.
"You barely have enough money for yourself that's why!" said pixie hissed. Marcus just pouted in response, "Then wouldn't you consider it bad luck if I spent it all anyway?" "Well, yes but--" "Then this one way to do it right?" Desdemona just stared back at his smiling face before conceding. "Oh fiiiiine; but I'm warning you luv...!" But it fell on deaf ears as her Cursed gave a brilliant smile. She guessed she couldn't hold it against him; at least she knew Sarita wasn't trying to take advantage of the situation. Marcus turned back to the others, nodding to Elysia. "Of course," he took Sarita's hand as he walked ahead, "I saw this really nice cafe once; we can go there," he smiled softly. |
Dante waved his cousin good-bye before turning his eyes on the new customer. If he couldn't flirt with Marie or any of the other working girls, he could at least try his luck on this person. The white-haired man stood up and walked over to the person in black, noticing when he was close enough that it was a she.
"Hey there, can I help you?" He asked politely, giving the shorter girl a cheerful smile. Dante quickly glanced her over, finally noticing just how pale and thin this girl was. Almost too thin with messy, short black hair. Her clothes looked like they had seen better days. He immediately thought that the girl could be from the Underground, but kept quiet until she responded. *** "Alright, if you insist." Sarita replied softly, still looking down and blushing. It was great that she was getting free food, but she just couldn't shake the feeling of shame and guilt from her heart. Marcus had to be having a tough time like she was but he was going all out to feed her. Why couldn't she keep a steady job and be able to pay for herself? That way her friend could be able to cope better... Elysia tugged on Sarita's hair, making the brunette squeak. "Quit it." The pixie whispered the order in her ear. "Sorry..." Sarita replied, rubbing her head before giving Marcus the best smile she could muster, "Shall we get going?" |
Genesis' head jerked up in surprise, her eyes showing her puzzlement before she quickly composed herself. She had to glance around to make sure that he was actually talking to her; it didn't seem there was anyone else around. "Ooh, a boy. You know what those are, right," Scion teased, tugging sharply on her hair. Genesis whinced, but decided to ignore the little pixie. "Um, no, thanks," she managed. "I can't... ah, I probably shouldn't linger here," she said, refusing to admit that she couldn't afford to get anything from her. She rubbed her arm, dropping her eyes awkwardly. "Sorry." She turned abruptly, and would have made for the door if Scion hadn't dropped down and grabbed her shoelace, sending her tumbling. She hit the floor hard, whincing as her knees took the brunt of the impact. She sat there for a second, allowing a defeated sigh to slip past her lips as Scion skipped around her. "Whoops," the pixie giggled, looking up at Genesis tauntingly. "You always were so clumsy, Genesis." Genesis only glared sullenly, bracing her hands against the floor. |
