I hate trying to shade large areas. ; ~; Especially when I restrict to not using blur. = 3=

Antagonist 06-12-2012 02:48 AM

Why not use blur? :O I usually have my blur set to either %70 or %20 depending on the area I'm coloring.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 06-12-2012 02:56 AM

So I can get some experience in not relying on it and working with different styles.

Antagonist 06-12-2012 05:30 AM

Ah. I should try that too once I get a tablet.

Flowery Pit 06-14-2012 09:24 AM

Can I make a suggestion on shading? Blur tends to.. well making things fuzzy and can actually lose depth if you.. really go at it.

I'm not sure what program you use, (I use Photoshop) but, you can either try to custom make your brushes, like one of mine is set on Flow 90% and on Airbrush which what you would see in my sig.

Also playing with opacity helps, and another way of blending is using a medium color. So let's say you got a bright orange and a dark orange, obviously there will be a clash of contrast.

Example

So you eye-drop the middle color of the two. The brush I was using was on 100% hardness, and it's not a great example. But I hope it helps?

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 06-14-2012 02:39 PM

Ah, this does help! :D I use Sai, but you can make custom brushes there; so this is great. Thanks! :eager:

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 08-01-2012 06:01 PM

Thanks Ama. :3

Amaitae 08-01-2012 06:50 PM

you make me want to go paint when i get home. start a new project instead of working only on the one i'm doing now.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 08-01-2012 08:16 PM

It's good to be inspired! \ o /
What do you want to paint?

ktbee 08-01-2012 08:28 PM

You're a drawing machine! xD I love love love the headshot! :D Your chibis are so cute~~ ><

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 08-01-2012 08:32 PM

Haha, I wish. I go through little droughts of no drawing, sadly. Oh! That reminds me that I wanted to try this drawing challenge!
And thank you! > w<
Chibis are a bit difficult for me.

ktbee 08-01-2012 08:35 PM

Before this week, I hadn't drawn for... 3 months, and before that was.... 2 years? Or something like that. @[email protected];; I love that my tablet is working again though. So happy :)

Really? Darn, they are for me too. Your chibis look like chibis though. xD Mine... don't...

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 08-01-2012 08:45 PM

Daang. [:O] I've gone through spells like that too. I figure as long as I bounce back. [lol] I've put forth more effort to draw though, then I did before. And I get inspired more than I did before as well. Even if I don't feel like drawing, I at least attempt to draw something. [XD]

Thanks. > w< It's crazy how many styles of chibis there are out there. There's more styles that I'd love to get a hang of. [drool]
