The Zombie Apocalypse!!
 

The discussion has come up many times over with me and my friends. What would we do if December 21st 2012 really is the Zombie Apocalypse? Sure, it's not very likely... but it IS a lot of fun to discuss!! So many possibilities, so many ideas that might or might not ever work in a billion years!!!

What I want to know is... have you ever thought about it. What would your plan be? Car of choice? Weapon of choice? Headquarters? Long term survival plans...

I have a lot of ideas on this! And I think it would be a lot of fun to discuss what plans would be, and who thinks they would actually survive in that world!

So grab your shotguns, aim for the head, and lets get this show on the road!! XD

I've had a party planned for that date since about 2005. We were going to get together and listen to R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World" and have a wild time. I also went to a high school that had the traditional "Apocalypse Friday" spirit day, so we all thought about that stuff constantly, lol.

I also have done lots of research on Eschatology (end of the world theories) and it would seem that the Mayan date was actually the end of a cycle. So a lot of people believe that it's not really the "end of the world", per se, but instead a time when a dramatic change would occur. It's actually quite fascinating.

The whole psychology behind end of the world theories fascinates me as well. I know this year there was the whole May 21st prediction in America and it was interesting (as well as somewhat sad) to see how some people reacted to it. I personally know someone who was affected by the prediction because his boss bought into it all and ran his company as if the world was going to end (which went about as well as you would expect). I was seriously concerned about it ending up like the Heaven's Gate group, another end of the world cult.

But anywho... zombie apocalypse is one of the more entertaining apocalypses, that's for sure. Scientifically it would require some very specific genetic mutations, but who cares about all that technical stuff anyways? As you said: Grab your machetes and bring on the shotgun rain!

I'd like a crossbow. This is Australia though. We might not have weapons but the wildlife would probably get to the zombies first. XD

And I agree, a crossbow would be amazing in a zombie apocalypse. You get power that's comparable to your average gun and the bolts are reusable if you can pull them from the eye-sockets of the fallen zombies.

I have to agree Adrastiea! It is all very fascinating! I really thought that George W. Bush was gonna cause the end of the world.. but we made it through that!! LOL!! I LOVE watching the history channel, or looking at websites talking about end of the world theories, they really make you think. There's soooo many possible ways it could go!

Personally I would prefer a Zombie ending, cause just think of all those times there's been that person that you just really wanna beat their head in with a shovel... well if they're a zombie... guess what!!?? XD And plus, if you're actually a good survivalist, you could continue out the rest of your life with little problems!!

I do remember the May 21st prediction, I also remember joking around with friends about it! So many religious nuts thinking they know how things are gonna go cause "God told them so" But that < is a different subject all together!! I can't wait to see what really happens!! XDD

haha, crossbows would be fun!! And I've heard some stories about Australia. I have a friend who lives in Adelaide. (hope I spelled that right! haha)

I'd like an old fashioned repeating crossbow... that would be epic!!! Mow em down and pick up the bolts afterwards!! Good times!

Also there's a passage in the bible about man not being able to predict the coming of the end...

But then all these religious leaders go ahead and try to do it anyway. It seems like every generation just wants to be the last. XD

Back to zombies...
With all my camping/backpacking experience I feel like I'd have a pretty good chance when it comes to the whole "survivalist" situation. I also have some knowledge in first aid/cpr that would come in handy. :3

Ooh, that is good experience! Really the only medical knowledge I have is because I'm obsessed with House and I love watching the Trauma Life in the ER and shows like that. XD So no real experience to speak of! But I own several swords that would be handy! And also I have two Pit Bulls who could be good attack dogs!! lol

I guess my biggest strength in the zombie outcome would be that I'm slightly crazy, so I over think everything, and in ways that really never could happen in a billion years (even less likely than an actual Zombie Apocalypse! haha) and honestly have like, page upon page of ideas of what to do should this happen!! X_x

Yeah, swords are another valuable asset. One of the main things one would need to concentrate on is conservation of resources. Guns need bullets and they can't be recycled as easily as the crossbow bolts we mentioned earlier or melee weapons. Yeah, with the melee you need to get in some zombie faces, but unless you break it or lose it, it will be with you always.

Pit Bulls help too. XD

Hey, over thinking could save your life in a zombie apocalypse. As I always say: Better to err on the side of caution rather than be under-prepared. I constantly think about this sort of stuff too, so I can relate to the making plans/lists bit. It makes for some interesting imaginings/daydreams. I even had a professor that told the class on the first day that he had a plan should the zombie apocalypse happen. Best Government teacher ever.

I'm glad to find out I'm not the only person who is fascinated by End of the World theories. My friends and I have talked at length about surviving an End of the World situation.

I think my weapon of choice is my .22 rifle with scope. Head-shot is a head-shot plus .22 ammo is really easy to get. But it will run out eventually, so a crossbow or compound bow because making arrows is easier than making bullets if I really need to make arrows.

For melee, I also own quite a few swords and a nice big metal baseball bat. Batter up, zombies!

Remyre, I think being slightly crazy would go a long way for surviving a Zombie Apocalypse lol. I think I would enjoy the zombies too much and that would help me survive...unless I got cocky and let my guard down lol. Or come across something from Resident Evil like the Lickers or Hunters...

Yessss. I'm actually excited about finding some other people who think about this stuff too. Ever since I left high school there just hasn't been too many people around me who think about this sort of thing. It's kind of depressing, actually. :(

Guns are a great choice!! But like you said, ammo runs out, and I don't think Walmart would still be in business!! XD Bows, swords, knives (though risky) seem like the best options for long term.

haha, yeah Drizzle being crazy probably does help, I'd get some sick enjoyment out of killing the poor mindless things!! XDD And getting cocky isn't ever a good idea! That one little slip up, next thing you know you're eating brains for breakfast lunch and dinner!! lol

But I would like to run into Whesker!!! <3 He's amazing!!

I know how you feel!! Me and my friends in high school used to discuss it ALL the time!! Now it's a very rare moment that it comes up!! This thread just seemed like it had to be made!! <3

That is depressing, but fear not! It seems plenty of people here think about this stuff so you have people to talk to :). Survivors need to stick together lol.

And yeah Remyre, I'd get too much enjoyment out of killing zombies lol. To be honest with myself, their is a side of me that really wants the challenge of the Resident Evil world. Not just the slow zombies but the lickers, hunters, tyrants...just not the big spiders...my arachnophobia would kill me lol.

LOL!! OMG I know!! Throw all the lickers and tyrants you want at me... but keep the eight legged ones away!! I do have to agree, that's one amazing thing about survival horror games, it actually gets you thinking!! "Well, if I use the bullets to shoot this zombie, the licker's gonna be that much harder! Save bullets, use axe!!" XD

I would honestly love to be able to build a huge compound, and help who I could... and keep people around that I don't like just for distractions if I need to escape the horde of zombies!! XDDDD

All this zombie talk is making me wish that it would really happen!!!!

Lol!! We are thinking the same then. I know how you feel! Talking about it makes you want it to happen even more. And yeah, keep "cannon-fodder" around lol. Use the old rule, "I don't have to be the fastest, I just have to be faster than YOU!" >.< Lol!

But yeah, setting up a concrete compound and keeping a group of trusted people would be a good survival tactic...you know, til a Tyrant with a rocket launcher shows up...but then all bets are off and you better hope someone brought or can make explosives lol.

I'm pretty sure I'm ready for the apocalypse. Got my sword(though I could use two more better condition, and sharper). Got everything I need to maintain said sword(s), and have more than enough bottles that I can use to haul enough water around for myself.

I can say that I agree with that! I don't believe we're just gonna be there one day, then POOF, it's gone the next!! But none the less, end of the world theories are a lot of fun!! XD

XDD So true!! Being fastest doesn't matter... just throw something under the other peoples feet, and it's all gravy from there!! LOL

And the Tyrant was actually invited to my party! I'm hoping to stay on his good side, I agreed with him that S.T.A.R.S. members suck... hopefully that's enough to not have to worry about him!! XDDDDD

I hear ya! I have three swords and a battle axe, but I could use more sturdy, and sharper blades! I've always loved melee much more than guns or explosives!! And saving things like water bottles or glass jars, would be a good idea!!

don't get me wrong though, I'm not one of those crazies who actually builds a shelter under their house waiting for this to happen. I just like the discussion!! XD

The world can so end in a day, what if a huge asteroid rammed into us and the earth shattered into a million pieces.

That's why I only kind of agreed with that other post. That would definitely end it quick and in a hurry!! Though some people could still survive I suppose, just not in even kind of good conditions!!

I really can't wait to see the look on peoples faces when nothing happens on December 2012... maybe it's just that everyone's gonna catch a cold or something!! LOL

Very true! That's actually another fun thing I like talking about. The TONS of things in space that could be an End of the World situation. But a lot of those are total world enders lol.

Yes, the Tyrant was invited. He came for the punch and pie XD. And as long nobody decides it was a good idea to cosplay a S.T.A.R.S. member, you'd probably be ok lol. Well, unless someone shot at him lol. The big snake doesn't actually bother me lol. Or even them. Just huge bugs.
