Jeane nodded. "In a few days. I did agree to give him some time to think about it."

Khalid nodded. Fair enough. She watched Jeane play with Alexander for a few more minutes, until the boy started to yawn.

"I think it's time to put him to bed," she said softly.

"Alright. There you go, kiddo. Back to your mom." Jeane handed him over again with a smile, watching them go.

"You really do want a kid, huh?" Robin kept his voice quiet.

"Yeah." Jeane smiled a little wistfully.

"Alright. You want me to talk to Cal?"

"No. Not yet, anyway. Thanks, though."

Khalid took Alexander and went upstairs to put him to bed. He was already sleepy, so it was just a matter of changing him into his pajamas and settling him in his crib. She lingered for a few moments (and would steadfastly claim that it was to make sure he was asleep and damn all who said otherwise) and then headed back out of the room and downstairs.

Jeane looked over at Khalid and smile. "Well, it's probably time for me to head home. I have some cleaning to do and Cal gets grumpy if I ignore him for mundane, monotonous things like doing dishes." She grinned.

Khalid snorted.

"I bet he's grumpy regardless," she replied. She grinned, though, and gave Jeane a hug. "Do you want me to take you back, then?"

"Nah, I'll get a cab," Jeane said, returning the hug. "I'll be fine. And I'll be sure to let you know when he figures out what he wants to do."

"Good," Khalid replied, nodding. "I'll see you later, then. Let me know if you need anything."

"I will." Jeane smiled at them and left, starting to walk back towards her apartment. She'd get a cab when she found one, and she didn't mind walking.

Although she might be in trouble if Cal got back before she did.

Lucky for her, Cal was having one of those nights where there was quite a bit of mess to clean up. A few of the not-regulars ended up getting a bit uppity and when all was said and done, there were a few pretty big splatters on the floor to clean up that were all that remained of the instigators. So Cal ended up being an hour and a half later than usual, grumbling the entire time about goddamn fairies not being able to keep their sparkles to themselves.

Jeane was only half-awake by that time, one of her normal reading books in front of her. She stifled a yawn and shifted, getting more comfortable and curling up there to wait for him.

Cal barely managed to bite back a few rather impressive pieces of profanity as he went into the apartment. When he didn't see Jeane on the couch, he made his way into the bedroom.

"I'm surprised you're still up," he said when he saw her. "Well, sort of still up."

"Mmhm." Jeane yawned. "Got tired. Think I've been drifting in and out. I've been on the same page for an hour." She grinned, and then yawned again.

"That's probably a sign that you need to put the damn thing down already," Cal said, taking the book and putting on her nightstand. Once he did that, he undressed and got into bed as well.

Jeane pouted a little but snuggled over into him as soon as he'd settled down. "I like that book, though."

"Even better reason to put it down," Cal replied, putting his arms around her and pulling her closer. "You're too tired to enjoy it."

Jeane laughed quietly and snuggled closer. "Now you're just making things up," she accused teasingly.

"Am not," Cal protested, albeit half-heartedly. "You were falling asleep. You can't read and sleep at the same time. I've tried, it doesn't work."

"You don't read," Jeane protested. "You sort of read things, and only then if they have pictures."

"I said I tried, not that I managed," Cal pointed out, grinning a bit. "And I do so read. I can read billboards and menus just fine." Yeah, he couldn't resist that tease.

"Menus have pictures," Jeane pointed out. "And so do billboards most of the time." She managed to poke his stomach.

"Just accept that I'm right this time," Cal said, kissing her briefly. "You're too tired to read, and it's late."

"It's no longer late, it's now early." Jeane yawned again and settled down. "Least I don't have work the next couple days."

"Good for you," Cal replied, settling in with her. He stretched a little before really settling down.

Jeane grumbled at that. "Stop moving," she ordered, resting against him. "Before I have to lay on you."
