Xuv, isn't it?? I've been searching for a year and a half and I finally landed this internship...unpaid. The only thing I can say though is that it's something, right? Just keep trying. It sucks, but you can do it! You might not even have to do what I did - I moved across the country for better luck. x) |
I went about 4 years with nothing coming out of anything I did. Then I finally got the station job, and I applied for a paid summer internship.
<_< The internship is largely because my field (Graphic Design) is just not taking entry level right now. I figure internships are pretty much my only real chance at getting experience. If I get into the one I applied for, I won't quit the gas station unless they keep me afterward. |

I also work part time in retail. :3
I try to not go shopping and I check the ads for deals on food. I eat a lot of eggs, bread and peanut butter..Cheap but energy giving foods. I have to pay rent and gas sucks up a lot of money, but if I sacrifice now, I hopefully won't have to later. You gotta do whatcha gotta do. ): |
How do you have TIME to work part time in retail if you are working intern? O__O

The internship is part time and my retail job is part time.
Even if the internship was full time, I'd still work my paying job in the evenings and on weekends if that's what I had to do. When I was in graduate school, I worked full time for school to pay for my tuition, worked part time in my retail job and went to class three nights a week. School-job was 8-5, class was 6-10 and retail-job was 545-945. It was draining at first, but I got the hang out it. |

@xuv~ xD If only! Then I might have been able to get more sleep.
I know it sounds daunting but after a couple months I had gotten the hang of it. It wasn't too awful. This past week was my first week as an intern and it positively drained me. I have high hopes for next week though - I think I've got a schedule figured out in my head. (: Yay DJ on your paper!! Yay Div for the CIs! I liked them, but they felt a little too...single use for me. :/ Like...Difficult to use them to accessorize with. |
