Morning everyone. |
WEEKEND! What is everyone's plans for the weekend?
|
I'm going down to Santa Cruz tonight with my mom and then back home tomorrow via Oakland to have dinner with my uncles. ^_^
She's been doing what she can lately to get me out of the house as much as she can. >.< |
I'm mostly going to be talking to my boyfriend. XD |
Sounds fun to me.
I am going to watch my friends re-sell their souls to my kids at a bbq today. Speaking of that I need to go buy more hookah tobacco. I will be back in a quick minute. |
Yeah, I'm excited! ^_^
|
Yay! Strawberry margarita and green apple hookah tobacco. Tonight will be great. Haha.
|
>.< *no comment* I can't stand people who smoke mainly because I have asthma and it makes it act up and makes it REALLY hard for me to breathe. :(
|
Ah, that is completely understandable.
When I meet new people who hang out with my friends and I, I always ask them their preference on smoking of any kind. My friends and I like to smoke hookah on occasion and I have a few friends who smoke pot. If someone doesn't approve, or has asthma and can not be around it, we either don't smoke or we go far enough away that the other person will not be affected. |
For me it's not even being around it, it's having it on someone's clothes that is enough for my asthma to be set off. [sweat] I had a roommate who started smoking as soon as she turned 18, while we were living together, and omg, I had some words about that. Because I had told her specifically... I have asthma and I can not stand to live around smokers for that reason. Asthma meds are expensive and I don't have the money to get them all the time - I mean I do, but I feel bad and I try to keep it under control, which takes a lot more of my time and energy when I am forced to live around a smoker.
|
Oh my, you poor thing. I have only met one other person who had asthma that bad. She never told us she had asthma and this was before we even thought of asking about someone's smoking preferences (she's the reason we did start asking). So we were all smoking hookah and she just looked really uncomfortable and we all assumed it was because she was a new girl around so we asked her, like, "Emma, what's wrong? You don't have to be all shy come hang out." And she still didn't say anything and walked outback with us and once the smoke hit her she had an asthma attack. I was flipping out and after she was calmed down a few days later I asked her why she didn't say anything and she was like "You never asked."
That actually made me mad, like, no we didn't ask but you didn't have to be stupid and NOT say anything. Because I have a big ol' four hosed Egyptian hookah that she saw the second she walked in the door. She could have said something. But now, it's like a disclaimer to my house. If you have a problem with smoking of any kind you have to speak up because I won't be held responsible for your stupidity if you don't speak up. |
I'm not that bad, it just makes it really uncomfortable for me to breathe and be around people who smoke. Only time I've really had an attack is when I had to run in HS without my inhaler. But I do not tell people usually because I find that they act differently around me or act like I'm making things up or exaggerating things so they don't take me seriously.
But for people who don't have asthma, it's hard for them to understand. I rarely say anything either unless someone asks me. [sweat] So honestly, getting mad about that, I get that, but at the same time, I get why she doesn't say anything... but honestly breathing in her face, that's not nice to do to anyone, unless you know for sure that they are ok with it. Hey guys.
|
We didn't blow it in her face, it was just collected outside because six people were smoking before and the smoke hangs in the air. She should have said something, it's not a crime to have your health affected by our habits. I'd rather know so we can not smoke and keep the other person comfortable and able to breathe. It's not like we'd make a big deal out of not smoking. But Emma moved away anyway. Now we just make sure to tell people "We WILL be smoking, if it affects your health or you just don't like it TELL US."

hummy: !!!
This thread is LONG overdue for replacement, it's way too big [gonk] Once a thread hits 1000 pages it needs to be made afresh, because it bogs the server down too much. If you can get a new one created, then let me know once it's up and running, and I'll lock this one [yes] |
I do get where both of you are coming from. [yes] But there are times when putting yourself in someone's shoes is a good thing. It is something that people seem to be lacking - at times. At least you make a point to saying it, but I do get where she's coming from 100%, because I am the same way.

I never* knew that O.o
